For all things related to using Braille and Braille displays with Apple products.
Hi Everyone,
For all things related to using Braille and Braille displays with Apple products.
I just updated my iPhone 6s to iOS 11.2. I'm not getting reliable results when panning a Braille display turns pages. I am using a Braille Sense u2 Mini. I also just updated the Kindle app, but don't know if that is a problem. Page flip and screenreader support are enabled in the book I am trying to read. Has anyone else seen this issue?
I have to do so much reading today using my Mac hooked to a braille display. I have had difficulty navigating a Pages document, I hardly could pan through the lines. I thought it is something with the keys of my display, so I had to use another display I have and for my surprise it had the same issue. Apparently the panning bug has found its way to MacOS. Good job, Apple!
Can anyone confirm this?
Hi, all. I am finding the following bug since updating to IOS 16.5. I'm testing this on my iPhone 12 Pro with an Orbit Reader 20-Plus.
In Voice Dream Reader: While panning through a book, I eventually run out of text and have to swipe up with three fingers to read more with the panning buttons.
With Kindle: The panning buttons do not work at all, rendering Braille support useless!
Pages documents: I can scroll through a document just fine with no issues with the panning buttons.
Hi. Does anyone know how to pare a Braille Sense u2 Mini with an iPhone 6S+? I turn bluetooth on on the display, enter terminal for screen mode. When I go to braille in the VoiceOver settings, select Braille Sense u2 Mini, type in the pin thing, and select pare. But for some reason, the braille display seems frozen, because it won't let me enter the pin on the display. It just says terminal for screen mode. When I try to type in the pin, nothing happens. Same thing when I tried to connect it with my iPad.
Could the braille display be broken? Thanks. Â
I have read on this site that it is possible to type in a passcode with Braille screen input, but it isn't working for me. It doesn't unlock my phone and I have to either shut it off and try touch ID again, or get out of BSI. My phone is an 8+.
Hello all!
I have a question for you guys.
I just found out that I can type on my iPad with braille screen input! And while it's going to take some getting used to, I have a couple questions for you guys about it.
Please recommend braille display compatible with iPadOS and iOS that is compact, lightweight and with the minimum number of braille cells.
Thank You.
Michael Feir posted in another topic and mentioned that Kindle was accessible in braille on iOS 10.
Please Michael if you read this, please tell me how to do this.
All I got was a blank screen and some built-in voice reading something and I had to just run away to the Home screen.
If Kindle works in braille I will be one HAPPY woman.
I have a focus 14.
Thanks!!!
This morning while at Vista Center Ignite Pitch for blind accessibility innovation, I came across a really innovative and cool Braille display that is 8-cells, uses Braille HID, USB-C, and has 6-dot Perkins keys layed out in 2-colums and 3-rows (similar to BSI in screen away mode). I think it's cool because it MagSafe onto the back of iPhone and is about the same thickness, so fits into pocket easily and well. Price is suppose to be $250. It's a prototype now and they're looking for beta testers.
I have discovered a strange bug specifically in iMessage when trying to use braille screen input. When I put the phone in landscape mode to use braille input, it puts me in the hand writing area. Mind you, I don't even have hand writing selected as an option to show up in my rotor. Even more strange, this only happens in iMessage. I can use braille input anywhere else. Is anyone else having this issue?
I am experiencing a small bug with braille screen input (BSI) on my iPhone 12 Mini which seems to have appeared after updating to iOS 15. Here is the problem.
I have my system set for uncontracted braille with each character spoken as I enter it. If I enter a dot 3 (apostrophe), the letter I enter immediately after that is not spoken. This behavior can be consistently reproduced on my system.
I would be interested to know if anyone else using BSI is experiencing this same issue.
Warmly,
Curtis Chong
Me again, sorry! :)
Just wondering, is there any way of entering emojies while in braille screen input, or do we have to use the wroter, get out of bSI, then select the emojie keyboard? This is what I do currently. Thanks if anyone knows for sure
I can confirm this serious bug which has made it impossible to connect/reconnect and use Focus Braille displays with IOS 10.2. Questions: Where and how to contact Apple and how to follow this thread and any developments?
Hey everyone.
I am a braillenote touch user and I like to use the amazon kindle app to read books on my display.
I was wondering however, if anyone was having issues getting past the first four pages of a book? if so, did they find a way to fix this issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Tali
In this report, the problems related to Braille writing or reading on i Devices were carefully studied and stated in Detail.
We hope, Apple experts will realize and correct those problems.
Hello everyone! Today I decided to connect my focus 14 blue 4 gen to learn how to use a braille display with an IOS device. I decided to experiment with braille tables, but the issue is that I cannot switch braille tables. I am using an IPhone 8 with the latest IOS 14 installed and I used an English language of the phone and also spanish. In both cases I cannot switch the braille tables. The options for contracted and uncontracted 8 dot braille are not available to choose in input and output. I tried to pare my display again but it didn't help. What can I do? Thank you!
