I would like to have your opinions about the braille evolutions in osx:
Since the introduction of braille in 10.5, only a few changes are made:
adding more supported displays in 10.5.x
adding more braille-tables in 10.6.x
and I believe in 10.7: a few configuration-options to configure the popup-messages.
If I remind well, this is all.
Since I use my macbook air in a cours I follow, I discover that it’s very hard to use osx without speech.
Some difficulties I discover:
Hello everyone. I recently purchased the new QBraille XL. But it is my first braille display and I'm having trouble learning how to use it.
Has anyone here tried it and could help me, or do you know of anyone who give online training on the use of braille displays?
I'm having trouble connecting to my iPhone and my Mac, via bluetooth, because apparently is has two types of connections (one for the keyboard and one for the display itself) and they don't work in conjunction for me.
Hello,
I am interested in your experience using the QBraille XL from Hims. If you have used it what do you find as the pros and cons?
Does the hybrid keyboard work out well with iOS?
What is the quality of Braille like? I know this is subjective so overall if you have used any other displays how does it compare, e.g., versus recent generation Focus displays?
Thanks for you rinsight.
Hello' earlier on, it was possible to play using shortcuts in the browser version of the playroom with a keyboard, such as the e key for checking how many cards you have' this no longer works but I logged in using my focus 14 blue braille display' I discovered that it was possible to for example press the e key' the problem is that it doesnt register the e key until I press the space bar, thus drawing a card' Does anyone know a workaround for this
I know the key command to move apps on a braille is dots 3-6-7-8. How do you get it to let go of the app? How can I move apps to folders with the braille display? I use a Focus 14 blue with an iPad Mini. It's great to be able to delete apps with the braille display.
I've recently got a braille sense on-hand, and it has an option to use it as a braille display for your Mac or iOS device. Now this sounds quite interesting to me, and this might sound a stupid question but what is the benefit of using a braille display?
Before the comments start, I'm not saying it's a pointless function in any way, but the way I look at it at first it means carrying 1 more device around and surely it takes longer to read rather than listen?
As I said these are just my first impressions of it so, what do you find are the benefits of using your braille display?
Hello all,
When I have my Orbit reader connected to my iPhone 10S I notice the cursor blinks all the time. Is there a way to stop this from happening? It is driving me nuts.
Hello all,
I am currently attending college and preparing to take an Arabic class next semester. As it turns out, I will have to teach myself the Arabic braille code and I remember a small issue I encountered last semester while taking my upper-level Spanish classes. During the classes, I used my braille display to read my Spanish material and, for the most part, it worked well.
Hi all,
wondering if anyone knows the answer to this, I have now set my braille screen input to use UK braille instead of unified braille,
today I wanted to get a plus sign in a text message, but I couldn't get this to work in either contracted or 6 dot braille, to do my plus sign I did dot 5 and 6, then with no space I then pressed dots 1 and 2 with dot 5, a lower f basically.
anyway I didn't get my plus sign, I got a semicolon and an exclamation point, is there problem with braille screen input and maths symbols?
Hi there. I was just using my iPhone 6's with a Braille Display. Since I was using a Braille Display and didn't need the on-screen Keyboard how can I bring it back? Particularly how can I bring it back without using the Braille Display in a Text Field?
I currently own a brailleNote apex, and use that as my notetaker and reading device. At some point, I intend to get away from the dedicated notetakers, and just use a braille display with an iPad. Here's my question. One of the things I do most with my notetakers is read books. I utilize the auto-advance aspect of the braille display, so the display advances on its own, at the speed I select. Is this possible using an iOS device?
I am having a devil of a time trying to figure out how to make the @ symbol using Braille Screen input on my iPhone. I would appreciate any help from someone who has mastered this.
Best,
Mike
Hi there, wondering if anyone is able to help me out with a query regarding using the Mantis Q40 with an iPhone SE 2022 (latest version of iOS) please? Is there a way of moving between a document which i'm accessing via an app on my phone and the inbuilt editor application on the Mantis without the need to close what i need to have open on the phone to go make notes on the Mantis? Ideally i'd like to access both and be able to read from the app and make notes as i go. Thanks in advance for any help.
Since I've updated my mac to Mac Os Catalina, I have trouble with the braille input with a braille display. In the Voice Over toolbar, I can't find a way of changing the braille input method, only the braille table used to show the information. With cord g, I can only switch between grade 1 and grade 2 braille. Is there still a way of setting it on computer braille?
