I know this may be a silly and simple question, but I am not the most technical person and am left to figure out most stuff by myself, which I am not that good at. I recently (last weekend) upgraded to an iPhone 6, which obviously would have the latest iOS version on it. So when I am reading my iBook, whenever it pans to the next page, a message comes up telling me what page I am on (e.g. page 201 of 648). This never used to happen.

Good afternoon. what is the best way to read an iBook using VoiceOver and a braille display? is there a way to read continuously? I can use an O chord and O W chord to get to the next or previous page on the Kindle app but this does not work in iBooks? Do I have to select each page by going to the page chooser at the end of each page? Thank you.

Hello all,

When reading a book with the Books app on iOs I notice when the line changes using the panning buttons the braille display jumps to the status bar for the message duration then jumps back to your reading position in the book. Has anyone noticed this? What have you done about it?
I tried making a VoiceOver activity to address the message duration in the braille settings but Sadly, this option is not available to set for an activity. This option only appears to be a global setting.

Thanks in advance,

Doug

Hi AppleVIS users.
Does anyone know of a good braille Display that supports Chinese braille input and output for iOS devices?
I currently have an APH Chameleon 20 but I realize that it does not display Chinese braille when iOS to text Chinese characters.

Braille reflow is turned on and set to the proper number of Braille cells that my display has, yet I still get lots of white space when I am trying to read a Braile book in BARD Mobile with my Braille display and iOS.

How do I reduce this white space as much as possible or at least skip over it more efficiently when reading?

I'm using an APH refreshabraille 18 with my 5S iphone (ios 8) with Voiceover on. I cannot figure out how to close apps using the braille display. Thanks for your help.

Hello all, I have a Refreshabraille I am trying to connect to an iphone running iOS 8. But it will not connect. I can connect to all other devices running iOS 7, so I know it's not the Refreshabraille. I had the display connected to the iphone just before I updated, but now it's like my phone can't find the display. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi friends! My Name Is Anders and I am New to this forum. I wonder if anyone else is using braille with Mac OS Catalina and how you think it works? Most of the time I must say I love it but there are some bugs or glitches I really hope they fix. On some sites it seems I am unable to read text with my braille Display when I start from a heading. For example a Swedish bible site where I can navigate by heading and when I do that I can only hear text if speech is active. Its really had to explain this as my main language is Swedish and not English.

Hi. I have just taken delivery of my new braille display from humanware. The first thing I always do when configuring my display is to reverse the thumb keys on the front of the display. This has worked well, except for as soon as I connect to my iPad or iPhone. The keys reset them sells to how they originally were, or at least that is how it seems. I have looked through all the Braille options I can think of, both under voice-over and under the display itself, but no luck. Can someone help? Thank you.

There is a folder called Locale on my new OR 20 plus. Is that the root folder? I put the update file in that folder and followed the steps. Nothing happened. Woe is me.

Hello,

I recently found 5 new available rotor items, but I don’t have any clue what they mean. They are as follows.

• Braille Zoom

• Braille Thickness

• Braille Horizontal Pan

• Braille Vertical Pan

• Invert Braille

Hi everybody,
Does scrivener work with a braille display ie can you write documents without the cursor jumping around.
Also how do you insert headings and once you export to word can jaws read them as headings.
Finally can you work on word docs in dropbox and have your edits sync automatically
Many thanks for any tips

Hi. I just got the Chameleon 20 and was looking for a good word processor. I have a Mac and an Iphone. So far I've tried to use Google Docs with almost no success, Pages worked a little better but was far from ideal because my cursor would constantly jump and sometimes my display would go blank and act as if I hadn't written anything. The standard Notes app seems to work pretty well but I don't think I would be able to use it for class assignments because there aren't that many formatting options. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, all!
I'm finally in the market to purchase a braille display for use with my iPhone, and I was hoping to get some thoughts and opinions on the Braille Me, as well as the Orbit Reader. I'm a little more interested in the Braille Me because of the cursor routing buttons, and I can't seem to find any reviews on it online. I'm also interested in hearing about using the Orbit Reader with the iPhone. What you like about it, dislike.

Hi,

We just started using a new Focus 14 with Pages app on I-Pad, for my daughter (Merel) who is 7 and blind.

Can someone help us with a solid and complete manual for use of the Focus 14 ? We've been struggling with the shortcut keys and just don't find the answers we seem to need in the delivered short Focus manual. Support of our supplier is also poor.

Good day to all. is there a way to select text using a Braille display? If so how is this done? I'll be working with a student and want to get as comfortable as possible using iOS with the braillent 40. Thanks.
