I just bought a new phone a couple days ago.
Because my iPbone 7 was old and dying.
So i got the 11 pro.
I use Braille screen input for everything when it comes to typing on my phone.
I am very good with it and type fast with it.
But since I got this new phone i have been having issues.
Certain letters like the letter y for example it wont let me type that.
It will give me weird symbols or other letters.
I recalebrated my fingers.
Went in to explore mode to make sure i was typing the right dots.

Hello,

I've been a longtime user of the RefreshaBraille 18 and am looking to get a new display to use with my phone. I see that the the Refreshabraille 18 is no longer being manufactured, so that puts me in the market for a new braille display. Does anyone have anay good recommendations for good 18 or 20 cell braille displays that I can consider?

Thanks,
Chris

Greetings. Since upgrading my iPhone XS and my 7th Gen iPad to the latest iOS 14.4, an annoying problem surfaces whenever I attempt to read a Kindle book using a refreshable Braille display on either device:

Hello, I am new to the forum, and up till now, I have always used Windows computer. I wanted to take advantage of all the features I could use braille with. Translating all the lessons I am learning about voiceover into braille is very hard for me, was wondering if someone would spend a little time just kind of helping me set things up and learning how to basically move around screen and apps and explain the rotor better to me and how it relates to what the braille display is doing. Got it paired, but now at a loss. Not many tutorials to show how things are done with braille.

Hi, hope this is the right forum for this. If not I'll change it. I received my Nls Ereader in the mail the other day. I Really like it! I'm using it to type this actually. Which is in relation to the next question I have. Has anyone here used the ereader as a braille display for their Iphone? Because it has this weird thing it does when you want to insert a new line in some edit boxes, it brings up a context menu with items like Select, Select All, Scan Text, and Dismiss Context Menu. Has anyone else come across this?

When you type using braille on iOS and attempt to erase characters, they are not read out as you erase. It's not the biggest deal if you're using a braille display. With the new Orbit Writer, that doesn't have a braille display this is a problem. Please report this to apple if you encounter it. If you have suggestions for a fix, please do let me know!

How would I go about typing in numbers to fields like email and password fields? I'm using the built-in Ios Braille Screen Input on Ios 8.4, and my braille is set to six dot English braille.

Thanks in advance,
~Ann

I wasn't sure if this should go under Mac OS or braille, but I put it under braille, as it is a braille display issue. I have paired my Mantis q40. The display works great, and most of the functions work as expected. However, there is just a few issues; for some reason there is no apostrophe. There is a colon and semicolon next to each other. Also, there is no slash. Beside the p is an @ symbol, and next to that is left and right bracket. And I apologize, it:s backslash that's missing, not slash.

From what I hear, there is a new Braille device to use with the iPad. It's called theOmnifer & it is not currently out yet, but it is designed to provide Braille output of what is on the iPad. It's suposed to fit over the iPad. Has anyone heard of this? Do you know anything more about it?

Hey guys, I don't really know what I am doing wrong but since I've restarted my phone the braille screen input seems to be not properly adjusting to my phones screen. the dots don't show up in the right spot and even if I calibrate them after a few letters the position changes again. Maybe it has to do with my phones resolution but it makes typing really frustrating.

i have just stumbled across this brailleeasy application for ios, and thought i'd share with the applevis community. This app lets you type braille in to your phone by just using 1 hand. you do the gestures in 2 parts so the left hand part first then the right. for example to do an m you would hold down to do dots 1 and 3 the first and third finger of your hand then release them. to complete the m, in this example you would then just press once with your first finger which now indicates dot 4 in the right-hand column. i find this a neat way of working.

When entering Braille characters on a brand new XR I constantly keep getting mistypes. Letter "w" is recognized as "j", "o" as "e", "s" as "i", etc. I'm certain I press all the necessary fingers because I specifically tested by both decreasing the entry speed and using other devices without any single error whatsoever. I've calibrated and re-calibrated, moved fingers closer to the different edges, tried to spread them wider, etc. with no apparent effect.

Hello. I am looking into possibly getting a BraillePen 12 touch, but I've never had any hands-on experience with them. I would really appreciate it if anyone could give me their opinions and thoughts about the display. The one I'm most familiar with at this point in time is the Refreshabraille18. I just don't have $1700 in my pocket to buy one of those again. However, I love it. I like the small size and small keyboard. I don't know what it will be like to transfer to an even smaller display though.

Hello all,
I recently went to the apple braille device support page to see if I could get a command list for the orbit reader 20. The page I went to on the apple support site listed all kinds of Braille Displays with links to there commands list. For some reason the orbit reader 20 was listed as being supported but it did not have a link to its commands. I think it may be one of the only ones that was like this. Is there a reference to specific orbit reader commands or is there any?
