I would liketo ask you if you could help me with a problem with my macbook!
I study ancient Greek, and wondered if there was a way to read it with mac and braille bar! Also, could you tell me if you can print in braille both ancient greek and maybe other languages?
Thanks to those who will help me!

Hi, I hope this is the right place for this, as I was debating whether to go here or to the OSX forum. Anyhow, my primary Braille display is a Focus 40 Blue, but I have a HandyTech Actilino as well. I've been able to connect the Focus to my Mac Mini and MacBook Air using both USB and Bluetooth jus tine up to about a month ago. I had to send my Focus in for repair, so I went to the Actilino to satisfy my Braille needs. The Actilino connected via USB just fine, but not when I used Bluetooth. Sorry for the length of this, but here's what happens:
The Braille display that I use is the Brailliant. I noticed after updating to iOS 16.5 that I can no longer pan and read text with my Brailliant. If I turn on auto-scroll, it reads continuously, but I can't just pan to the right. I've turned VoiceOver on and off. I have restarted the phone. After doing those things, I can pan for a short time and then it just stops. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Hi everyone. I was wondering how to make the commands for the Mack if you could make them like the iOS ones? For example panning you use dots 2-3 to go to the left and right. Thank you.
Frequently when I am typing with my Mantis connected to my iphone I am finding typos that I do not believe I would be making on other keyboards. For example, I recently typed the word beccause, with two cās. I am starting to feel like this sort of mistake is happening significantly more often on the Mantis, as opposed to a USB keyboard on my PC. I am not sure if this is a problem with the Mantis or IOS. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
I am temporarily borrowing a Mantis Q40 from a friend to see about getting one for myself. I find that everything works as expected, except for the fact that the Mantis does not appear as a drive in Finder when it is plugged in. This is despite finding the correct driver from APH and installing it. The drive appears in my finder, but shows up as empty despite there being files on the Mantis that I would like to transfer to my Mac.
Hi,
I tried pairing my Mantis Q40 Braille display to an Apple TV 4k 2nd gen (newest model). The Apple TV shows it is paired and even connected under Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Braille, and the Mantis shows the Apple TV's name in the connections list. However, choosing the Apple TV in the connections list just gives device selection failed error.
I've just unboxed my new mantis and am wondering how to go about using keystrokes for operating my iPhone with the Qwerty keboard. Is it only possible to do this with the device in Braille mode and if so, can I toggle between braille for navigating and Qwerty for typing whilst connected to the phone?
I've checked in settings and am only seeing Braille commands, but I know that doesn't mean that alternatives don't exist.
Hello everyone.
Unfortunately, my Hims QBrailleXL display suddenly died after practically a year of using it.
There were some issues with display that I didn't like (e.g. work with Bluetooth and Windows screen readers when Ins+Shift key combinations didn't work and support of Russian braille tables in built-in apps) but it was okay in general and it worked fine with iOS.
This Hybrid mode was confusing and I practically never used it.
Has anyone had the chance to work extensively with the Mantis and the new Brailliants? Which one do you prefer for productivity connected to Mac or iPad or both and why? If you use braille with speech completely turned off, is it awkward to quickly navigate and quickly check the display?
Hi,
I use mBraille as a third party keyboard as my primary keyboard. I find an extreme difficulty typing web addresses and email addresses. I use mBraille in grade two contracted Braille. Any tips would be greatly appreciated so I won't have to keep switching back and forth between mBraille and the iOs keyboard.
Thanks,
Moop
Hello,
I have had a strange issue with MBraille on my iPhone 5s lately. When I try to write, VO says nothing, and I only get the clicks telling me I'm writing. Today, when I tried to use the "clear text" swipe, VO said, "Clear test can't be used in Direct Touch mode".
This is strange, because I have typing set to Touch typing in VO settings. So, I was wondering if anyone knows how to get MBrille to behave like it should, again?
Priviet druzja hello friends. I try to use mbraille to type messages in russian. However, when I want to send a message or dial a number i don't know how to do it. The manual says type .sms and the name of the recipient. However, how do I type "." in russian keyboard in mbraille? Also how do I type the accent "udarenie" for instance "rob'ota"? Sposiba. Thank you.
Just wondering if anyone uses mBraille from their iPad or iPad Mini, and if so, what your results are. Using mBraille with my iPhone, I'm able to type quickly and accurately, to the point of it being my primary app for text entry on my phone. But I'm struggling a bit using it with the iPad. As I'm typing, every few letters, it seems to make what sounds like a double click, two letters entered at almost the exact same time... the one I meant to type and then some random symbol. It almost seems as if it's registering two separate keyboard presses at the same time.
I have used MBraille now for well over a year and have had great success with it. I recently updated to an iPhone 5S and am running IOS 7.1.2.
I have loaded MBraille onto the phone and have restored all purchases. When I try to send a text message, even though I use the proper dot command and type in the contact's name, I am taken to the new message, but no contact shows up in the "To" field.
Hello all,
What are others opinions on MBraille vs BSI? I have been thinking of purchasing the full version of MBraille. It looks to have quite a few useful features, like the alias's and dot commands. Can UEB be used with MBraille? One more question. How does MBraille work as a third party keyboard? Right now I don't have a braille display and I am hoping using either MBraille or BSI will help me at least keep in practice somewhat with Braille.
Regards,
Greg Wocher
