Hi everybody,

I am considering getting a Brailliant display, and was wondering, is there a way to have your braille display auto advance, four example, when reading a book.

I know this is doable in jaws for windows, as well as with the Braille note apex both in Mac OS X and iOS.

If anybody could help, it would be much appreciated.

I am a new Mac user. Previously been using windows. Is there a simple guide book to help learn the Mac with voice-over . I currently have a MacBook using yosemite but hopefully will upgrade to the latest. I live in the UK, but I don't suppose it really matters where the book comes from. If the book has tactile diagrams also it'll be very helpful. Many thanks in hope.

Hello everyone, I thought I’d share a Siri shortcut that I’ve produced. The shortcut will announce the Braille cells that are needed for those who might be learning Braille. E.g., the user can enter any letter of the alphabet or grade 2 Braille signs and the combination of dots will be read out. For example, someone typing in the letter Q will hear that the letter is made up of ots 1; 2; 3; four and five. It will also state that the letter represents the word quite when spaced on its own. Alternatively, typing in the letters T; I; O; N; will be read out as: Dots 5; 6; N.

I am a braille user, so naturally I use a braillenote with the iPad. We can use many different devices to pair to think Apple products I sometimes find different problems with my braille device I was wondering if what your guy what your device is to other people and I'm just going to say you really have to be careful with how you type things on the braille note I meant advice when we pet hair to the iPad or iPhone or Mac with the braille note even though it's really good for reading when you try to type with it it doesn't work as well

Hello,
I am wondering if any of you have experience with using a Vario Ultra with Safari?

Do you have experience navigating Safari using the braille display exclusively? I know that I can use the help section, however when I am trying to use the braille display with my Macbook pro I find that I have trouble figuring out how to navigate in text.

Hopefully this makes sense?

Jennifer

Hi everyone

I was wondering if anyone knew why pages will not read numbers of questions when you are in a document connected to a braille display. I am using the braille note apex. If anyone could help that would be great. Microsoft word does not read the numbers of questions either.

Hey there, awesome folks!

Since upgrading to IOS 13 point anything, the 2 finger scrub gesture doesn't exit braille screen input.
I can use the rodor, but my hand is hard to retrain.

Otherwise, I'd say that 13.1.2 has made BSI much more accurate than 13.1.1.

Finally, I do wish the bubble sound would stop when I'm typing in braille.

When a braille display is connected to an iOS device and input is set to 8 dot mode, one can enter symbols such as the at sign with dots 4-7.

I have the list of the standard punctuation found on qwerty keyboards. What I cannot find is a list of all the other codes, for foreign characters and other special symbols. This is for the U.S. Can someone point me to a resource for this? Thanks.

Hi Everyone: If you are an eight dot braille, computer braille, user please help. I use a Refreshabraille 18 on an iPhone 11, running 13.1.2, and Voiceover. I use eight dot input eight dot output, and English US braille table. This worked great on all previous version of iOS, until iOS 13. Using Voiceover, Voiceover sparratically speaks diffent things for the same symbols. For Example, if I press dots 2,5, Voiceover will say colon, but if I use arrows, it says three, like it's suppose too. This happens for most of the numbers, and all of the punctuation.

Hello all,
I have a 14 inch Macbook Pro running running 14.3.1. I have an Orbit 40 I use with it occasionally. Is there a way to turn off the blinking cursor when in an edit field or is it like iOS and there is not a setting for it?

Thanks,
Greg Wocher

Hi all.

I’ve recently aquired a smart beetle braille display which i am loving but i was wondering if you can do emojies on a braille display? Whilst i don’t use these often, i do use them an odd time. Also what is the @ symbol on a braille display?

Many thanks for your help.

Hi guys, have a question and I think I know the answer but thought I'd ask. I've recently got a focus 14 display which is working well. The issue is that only having 14 cells doesn't leave a lot of room for things that you could do without. E.G status cells etc. I've got rid of a lot of the stuff I don't need but the thing I don't think you can get rid of and that is annoying is capital letter symbols. It is rediculous that an entire cell is taken up by 1 dot before the start of a word or even worse if the whole word is in capitals it uses up two cells.

Hello all, this last weekend, I updated from iOS 12 to iOS 13.3.1. Ever since I updated, I hear a strange sound while typing in braille screen input. I think it is the sound that Voiceover makes when the app in use offers a prediction? Anyway, I don't hear it when I type very slowly, but, if I type at my normal pace, I keep hearing that bubble sound constantly.

Hello!

I hope I'm 'in the right place' here :-) ...

Last December, I got an iPhone 4s, and, after the Firmware version was upgraded, I could pair my SuperVario2 40 braille display with it. That was great, but since the braille display is rather big, I couldn't 'carry it around' easily. So I ended up not using it much with the iPhone.

A few days ago, I got the Refresherbraille 18, and I like everything about it. IPhone 4s and Refresherbraille 18 seems like a good combination :-) . It's 'so cool' :-) .

Hi, all. I'm trying to find a way to switch between my Or-20 and Or-40 using a quicker method than drilling through the settings to Voiceover and Braille, etc. I've done some searching in Shortcuts but haven't found anything besides turning VO on and off. Does anyone know if there might be a quicker way to switch displays?

Thanks in advance!,
