I'm hoping some of you can help. I've been blind for a couple years now. I have never learned Braille. I would like to teach myself. I would just like another tool to add to my arsenal, in making sure I stay as independent as possible. Can you guys recommend best all-around Braille teaching app. I would like to learn alphabet, numbers, punctuation. Thanks for any advice given- Jeremy
Hi! I am noticing a bug with my braille display, reproduceable on iPad pro 6 gen (12.9-inch) on iPadOS16.3.1, and an iPhone SE 3 running ios 16.5 both with my Brailliant BI40X. The issue is, most often appearing on Chrome, that if I type a one-word thing into a text field then open another one fast the text transfers. I can delete the text myself, wait a few seconds for it to disappear, but if I type while that text is there the text inserts itself there (I say inserts because VO doesn't read the text it's only in braille). and that's pretty frustrating.
Hello,
I am not a proficient braille user. I did take grade 1 lessons sometime ago but, sadly I let things slip. I would like to be able to learn how to use braille cards so I can play with my friends and family. Is there an App that can help me learn braille playing cards? If not, is there a on-line resource that can help? I mean really, you have 4 suits, 10 numbers and jack, queen, king and Ace so this should not be that hard right? So folks; Is there an app for that? Peace and love...Rocker
hi everyone. really sorry if this post has already been bought up, but do you any of you use any braille translation/editing software on your Mac with voice over? i have tried Lewy and looked at iBraille but they are both old! any working alternatives you'd recommend? many thanks!
Does anyone know of a VoiceOver accessible application for the most recent Mac OS 10.9.4 that gives a blind user the ability to create , save, edit, format, open, and read Braille files on the Mac? Windows has several options, but we are limited on the Mac. The main translation program I've found for Mac is Louis, but it is not compatible with the most recent OSX. Another application I found is Braille Writer, but it is not accessible with VoiceOver!
Hey everyone, I'm at a point where I use my braille display as my one and only way of interfacing with my IPhone. My 5s is getting pretty close to biting the dust and I'm thinking about getting the 6 or 6s. On my 5s, I notice that I can't type in contracted braille very fast without the phone falling behind. I then have to stop and wait for it to catch up. I've got automatic braille translation off, such that when I hit the space bar at the end of a word, it is only then translated.
Hello all,
I currently use a Mac book air, and every now and then it seems to be running something in the background. The fans get quite loud and when I investigated in Activity Monitor, I found that something called 'Braille Translation Services' was running.
This is strange, since I do not use any Braille Hardware and (to my knowledge) I haven't enabled any braille settings.
Hi Friends, I love my Iphone 4S and get a lot out of it. The only problem that I have is typingand hence I was quite excited when Braille typing Apps were released. I am sorry to say that though I have 4 apps: Typeinbraille, Brailletouch (free), Braillist and Braillepad I am unable to use any of them successfully. Could anyone throw some light on these? Is there anyone who can use any of these successfully and would he/she share their experiences? Please? Thank you in anticipation, Ketan
I just upgraded from a 6 SE to an 8. When I try to use the onscreen braille keyboard, I can type everything except the letter Y and the word "and". I hold the phone in landscape away mode. Is it possible to get the keyboard in portrait? My thought is that maybe my hands are a little too small to get my fingers in the right positions in landscape. I have IOS 13.1.2. Any help will be appreciated.
Hi all: I've noticed a few bugs while using my newly-upgraded iPhone 5 with my Hims Braille display. I don't think these issues have been brought up previously, so I don't know if it's just me. Here's what I've found: 1. When I double-tap and hold an app icon to move it to a different location, I still get audible feedback from VO, but the braille display is blank. When I flick through the apps in editing mode, the names are spoken in the usual way, but there is no Braille feedback whatsoever. 2. most of the editing commands seem to be broken.
I have an iPhone 5C, and I cannot get it, or my iPad mini, to connect via Bluetooth to my Apex. Both units have Bluetooth enabled, and the Apex is in Braille terminal mode. When I go to settings > general > accessibility > voiceover > Braille, it just searches forever. Suggestions???
Using a BrailleNote Apex as a Braille display and keyboard on an iPhone 5S, what's the command to quickly switch between Nav modes, like on a qwerty keyboard one does with I think left&Right arrows together? On the website of
I want to know what you use to write documents on your Apple products--IPhone, IPad, IPod, or Mack. And why is Pages so slow when trying to type with the BrailleNote Apex? It's so annoying.
Thank you
Greetings all,
I have BrailleNote mPower B32, I have not used it for a while as it is getting falty and old. I tried pairing it with the Mac to use it to edit few documents. It pairs fine but when I add it to VoiceOver as a braille display, VO utility announces a lengthy busy message then I get this message:
VoiceOver failed to load a driver for the Bluetooth device "BrailleNote."
If the device must be in a "terminal mode" to be used as a braille display, please make sure it is in that mode.
I've recently started using my BrailleNote Touch plus as a Braille Display for my iPhone. While this setup works really well overall, I have found that when my phone locks, the connection to the braille display is dropped as expected, but the only way to reconnect it is by going into Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Braille and selecting the device. In other words, it does not automatically reconnect once my phone is unlocked again.
Hi, all. I am a completely blind iPhone user for about 8 years now, and I love it! I am about to graduate high school in about a month and as a result have to give my BrailleNote Apex and other loaned products back to my school district, so I will be without a notetaker. I use a notetaker almost every day in conjuction with my iPhone, so I want to find the best one for me, as an Apex really doesn't do much. I can do a lot on my iPhone, but I still use the Apex for word processing, emailing, and file management.
Hey everyone!
I've been having some problems with my BrailleNote Touch connecting to my iPhone 12 mini on ios 15, although these problems have existed for a number of years now.
