I have an iPhone SE running the latest version of iOS 10. I have always used Braille Screen Input with success on this phone. Now however, when I activate Braille Screen input, it opens in table top mode and turning the device will not put it into screen away mode. On my iPod Touch running the same iOS this is not an issue, and it just started happening last night on my phone. I rebooted the phone and toggled VO, to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello,
I cannot delete notes word by word on Microsoft OneNote ıOS app using Braille screen input. I have already reported the issue to OneNote team, but I am just curious whether there is anyone experiencing the same issue or not. If you experience the same bug, please take your time and report to the OneNote team so that we can make our voice heard and get a fix as soon as possible.
Thanks!

Does anybody notice that when doing contracted braille, whenever you put the letters "i" "n" in contracted format, it just says the word "in" instead of letters like it meaning voiceover does for the other contractions? Maybe I'm new to this but I just now noticing it.

Hello all,

On my iPhone 11 Pro I have noticed now all of a sudden that when I use Braille screen input, it is locked to tabletop mode, and moving the phone is not making it go into screen away mode. I’m running iOS 14.5. Has anyone else notice this behaviour?

Thanks,
Will

Hello.
This afternoon, while texting with my sister, I noticed that the Braille keyboard simply doesn't work. It starts recording a voice message instead of typing anything.
Is there any solution for this?
Thank you in advance.

I'm using an iPhone 14 Plus with iOS16.6. There's a problem with the Braille Screen Input feature. It tells me that contractions are off before I try to start typing, even though I have it set up for contracted input. I don't think it even says CONTRACTIONS OFF" when you have the input set to uncontracted. Then when I try to type it acts like the braille keyboard isn't there.

For a few versions on ios 18 braille screen input has behaved strangely. From time to time you type in and you get the correct feedback according to your settings for feedback, but when you review the text you have typed, suddently on part of the message all words is run together that is the spaces that was announced while t you were typing is not there in the actual text. This does not happen always, but often enough to make it a huge annoyance and a bug!
Since it does not happen all the time creating a bug for Apple is difficult close to impossible.

Hello! I am a new user here so I apologize if I post in the wrong area, but need some guidance with Braille screen input. My Braille screen input isn't aligning the dots correctly. sometimes the 2 dot is larger than others,At other times the dots just don't align properly. calibrating them fixes the issue for a short time but then it goes back to doing the same thing.

I have tried to restart the phone, I have not tried to factory reset the phone but that seems too drastic for me. Does anyone have any tips for me?

Hello! I hope I'm posting this in the right forum.

I checked older topics about BSI and couldn't find the answer: does anyone know if it's possible to turn off the print display of words and letters that is active between the braille dons on this keyboard? I use screen away mode and it makes me uncomfortable knowing any passer by can basically see what I'm writing (I have a small amment of vision so I don't have screen curtain on). Thanks for any help with this!

I wonder how you would put in an address, such as email or website using Braille Screen input? How does one enter the "at" and the "dot" symbols? I tried using the dot 4 and dots 4-6 respectively, but those seem to not enter anything. Also, I notice that some contractions, such as the full cell for "for", and the dot 6 in front of Y or N for their various signs are not recognized. Also, one cannot use propper braille spacing, such as for and the together in contracted braille.

I have upgraded to IOS 17.
Braille screen input at least on my end seems to have suffered as a result. The 3 finger flick up for activating the send action in messages and What'sup no longer works.
Using a 12 pro. I am also wondering if anybody has found a work around.
I use BSI for just about everything, and boy this one just nerfed my day.
To complicate matters, it does not seem to be device specific.
Your thoughts?

Hello,
I am having serious issues with the Braille Screen Input and VoiceOver. Every time I turn the rotor to the the Braille Screen Input setting, VoiceOver crashes, and there is no possible way for me to use it at all. Because I use this all the time, any help with fixing this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
Since Flicktype is being discontinued, I need a way to type. I know iOS has a Braille Screen input, but I never got the hang of it. Which way is the most like a Perkins style Braille Writer, with dot 6 being all the way on the right, and dot 3 being on the left, etc.?
Are there any tutorials or pointers on how to get started with BSI? I'm using an iPhone 8 running iOS 14.5.
Thanks

Hi Everyone,

Is braille support comparable to the experience on Mac or iOS?

Post Date:

Hi, I am leaning towards switching from windows to macbook because all of my families and colleagues use mac.
I heard Braille support on Apple devices are slow and sluggish though.
I use Brailliant BI40x for the Braille display.
I would like to get comments and thoughts from Braille users before I moe I move forward.
Thank you.

Hello,
So i was typing on my iphone using the braille screen input.
The thing is when i try to key in the braille code for the # sybol which i thought was dot 3456, voice over announces the numbers but the # symbol does not get inserted.

Hi friends,
first, let me wish every one of you a fantastic year 2020.
This topic was originally posted in the braille forum, but having had no reply, I decided to switch forums to see if I could get luckier.

Hey there:
I am really confused about how to write some characters using the braille screen input.
Special characters like #, ( etc. I understand that there are different tables available, liblouis and system, for each language, but cannot find documentation or a full list of characters for each one.
I tried to find liblouis tables but I don't find anything useful like a refference and easy to read list.
Any resources on that?
Thanks in advance.
