Hi everyone!

So, I love what has been done with BSI in iOS 18. I don't use the command mode as much, but love having Braille screen input toggled any time I reach a text field. However, one problem I am having is that when I use a display, BSI is still getting turned on. This makes no sense when a display is connected. What ends up happening is that because BSI is toggled, when I try to use my rocker buttons to navigate, a lot of things are hidden or otherwise inaccessible, as the rockers are interpreted as swipes. So I end up having to toggle BSI off.

Hi. I'm learning Chinese and, as sighted people learn hanzi, I thought it would be a good idea to learn Chinese braille.
I can't write anything with BSI, though. I can make it translate the braille dots into the Pinyin stuff, but no actual words. Am I missing some necessary step?
Thanks all in advance!

I have not tried BSI in a long time. When I updated to iOS 10 I decided to try it again. When I switch to BSI in a text field it says home button to the left so I point the phone that way and it switches to home button to the right so I point it that way and it switches back to left. This is with screen away mode. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it.

Hello all, I just noticed after installing the latest update to iOS on my iPhone, the automatic panning feature in the Kindle app seems to have been fixed. So try it out, and see if this is true for anyone else? Or are you still having trouble with this in other apps? This is great news.

Hello
On behalf of a friend who uses an iPhone 8+ running IOS 13.5:
For years she uses the built in Braille keyboard with success, but after upgrading to IOS 13.5 problems occur when she type certain letters. For example:
Typing dots 1 and 3 is suppose to create a letter K, but VoiceOver says it is a letter l> Does anyone experience the same issue?

I'm using an iPad with ios 11 with a blue tooth keyboard and focus 40 Blue Braille display. Can't get Voiceover or the Focus 40 to indicate the presence of bullets in a Google doc. It doesn't read auto numbers on the Braille display either. Anyone else have this problem or know a way to get around it?

Hi all! I have a friend who is deaf and blind, and He is thinking in getting a Mac computer since I told him the great features about it due to the fact that I own one. However,g My concerns and question is, can a Deafblind Braille display user be capable of using a Mac computer successfully? I'm. Just wondering since I understand it requires a lot of interaction with tables and so on in regards of the Mac.

I will soon be getting an apex and would like to know what it's like to use it with an iPhone. I've never owned a notetaker or a braille display before, and I know the apex is a bit behind compared to the newer notetakers and braille displays, but I've used my best friend's apex before, I thought it was really nice and I loved it, so she's now sending me one.
Thanks

Hi! I'm new here. I recently had the possibility to test an Ipad Mini at an apple store with a Baum Supervario 40 braille display. I noticed that whenever I used siri the braille display didn't show anything. Is this normal and how things are or can one change this?

Hello, I've purchased ReadHear Pro app for mac. I was under an impression that I would be able to use my focus 40 blue to read DAISY books in this app but I can't find a way to do this. I can't even locate the window which is supposed to display the text. I've written to ReadHear Pro support but have not received an answer. Does anyone here use Braille with ReadHear Pro, and if so, would you be able to help? I love reading books quietly without the voice using Braille, and I would be mightily disappointed if I couldn't do so.

Hi,
In ios in any interactive app like facebook messenger the braille display jumps each time a new text or message arrives.
It changes focus. This makes any kind of fast chatting impossible.
The display jumps to a new focus before I can read the previous message unless the messages are spread out making for very slow chat.
There is no way to disable cursor tracking in ios.
If you turn off cursor tracking on a mac does the display still jump every time a new text or message arrives?

I think you know what ABRSM is. so, exam preparation material is known as site reading. if my music teacher makes music on mac or iOS, can the results be read with braille display? I beg for help from friends. thanks.

Hi,

The software on my iPhone 12 Pro Max is up to date and the firmware on my Focus 14 Blue is too.

I tried to pair my display to the phone for the first time this morning but several times got a message saying that pairing was not successful and that the display was not supported.

It'd be good to know if anyone else has come across this and what I could do to fix it.

Thanks.

I don't understand braille display functionality on Mac OS Voiceover. On iOS if I keep pressing the right panning thumb key on my braille display focus goes to the next paragraph or item when I finish reading through the current one. On the Mac panning stops at the end of the paragraph or item until I press the move right command. It is so incredibly inefficient and annoying! Why would anyone want their display to behave in that manner. I hated it when JAWS did that and I hate it when Voiceover does.

Hi,

I’m using: MacOS 10.12.6 and Focus 40 Blue 5th gen.

I’m attempting to establish a Bluetooth connection between VoiceOver and the Focus 40 Blue 5th gen. USB connection between the Mac and Braille display works fine, Bluetooth connection works fine for iPhone and Android, but not Mac.

1. With the Focus 40 Blue 5th gen POWERED ON and USB cable disconnected
2. VO+F8 for VoiceOVer Utilities > Braille > Displays
3. Add > Select
