Using iOS 11, US English, contracted grade 2 braille, the translator seems to be jumbling up words when typing quickly.
In addition, when deleting a word, and typing something new instead, then flicking right, then left again seems to insert letters or symbols, for example the letter A or an 'at' sign.
Chords in general do not always work, it's not detecting the space bar. This had worked perfectly on iOS 10 before.
Hi all,
I got my self a new I phone today and it wants to upgrade to IOS 13.2 now except for where the Braille sometimes misses letters out when you type and you have to put them back in (This is according to a friend who uses braille and has already updated) is there any of the bugs that have been resolved in IOS 13.2 and anything major I should be aware of.
I am using an I phone 6 SE which won't stay on version 12 so I am forced to update.
Hello everyone. I just updated to IOS 13.2, and despite Facebook, Safari web pages and various other apps not supporting dark mode yet, I like it. I've been noticing while using braille screen input that various contractions, such as joining 2-3-5 as to to a word, and dot 6 Y and 5-6 N do not work anymore. Also using dots 3-6 for COM at the beginning of a word, and 3-4-5-6 for able anywhere at all don't work. I thought it was this new fangled UEB I keep hearing about, but Standard grade 2 is what is selected in my braille screen input keyboard list.
Hi, I am looking for a bit of help for my father. He has a Focus 40 Blue 5th Gen braille display and uses it with the latest iPad. He updated his iPad and iPhone Se yesterday to IOS 15.6.1. His iPhone is working fine and he is able to use the braille without any problems. However, when he tries to use the iPad the braille is not showing up. When he puts in his passcode it is showing letters that correspond to the number entered but does open the iPad.
Hi folks,
may anyone of you confirm that the Braille keyboard feature that came up with IoS8.0 finally is completely unusable after install IOS8.1.3?? OK, that feature really seems to be the reason for trouble from the day on it was borne, but the release of Ios8.1.3 unfortunately has completed the disaster.
Hi. I am having a problem in iOS 8.3 that I have not had in previous iOS versions. I made a post on this site about how in iOS 8.2.1, I was having a problem where there was a huge lag between the time I typed a letter on my braille display and when my iPhone spoak that letter. Well, now with iOS 8.3, even though typing feedback for both software and hardware keyboards is set to both, the iPhone will not give any typing feedback after I type a letter and will only say the word after I type a space. Is this an iOS 8.3 problem or do I have something set wrong.
Hi all.
I'm encountering a crazy bug with ios 9.2 and wondered if anybody else has ran into this bug.
I am trying to pair a focus 14 with an iphone 6s and I can not see the braille display listed in general, accessibility, voiceOver, Braille. I have blueTooth on and i know it's not my display, I have successfully paired it with the laptop!
Would anybody have any suggestions how to fix this?
Thanks for any feedback!
I'm learning to edit on an iPhone 5c and a refreshabraille. Is there a way to select from the cursor position to the beginning or to the end of a document?
Good afternoon all,
I am trying to locate an app for my iPhone and/or iPad which will allow me to open .brf files and read them with a bluetooth display.
Any help would be gratefully received.
Many thanks in anticipation.
David
I have noticed that, after typing something using a braille display and then disconnecting it, the IOS keyboard does not come back! Even after turning off bluetooth from settings, the problem persists.
Is it a bug? or can there be some way around except restarting the device?
Hi! I'm Jason from Choice of Games. We have long received messages from blind and visually impaired individuals for producing our games, emails for which we are very grateful. The VoiceOver feature on iOS apparently makes our games very accessible. About six months ago, we started publishing our games to the Mac App store. Recently, they've stopped approving them, saying that we provide no lasting entertainment value. Obviously, we disagree with this, but this is definitely an uphill battle.
I would like to raise an issue wich mostly affects those who use their braille devices for input and run non English versions of IOS. My native language is Russian and I love to use IOS with braille. But every time I need to enter text in English or some punctuation marks I have to detach my braille device and use either on-screen keyboard or attach a bluetooth querty keyboard. Of course, I have an option to temporarily switch voiceover language to english but since the whole interface remains Russian, the actual works become extremely inconvenient.
I've been having a weird problem with my Focus 40 (5th generation) and my iPad 5th generation. When I try to connect, it says:
"Pairing Unsuccessful."
"Focus 40 BT E3BC8911 is not supported."
The iPad is running 13.4, so what's the problem? What's weird, though, is my iPad Pro is running 13.3.1, my phone running 13.2, and my iPad Air 2 running 12.4.1 and they pair just fine.
Hello everyone, I would like to discuss the behavior of voiceover and braille displays interacting with content that has an audio component. This could be a book in EasyReader or an article on a web site that has either a screen reader or human reader. What I have seen happening is when I encounter this, voiceover will display one word at a time. I want to be able to read all of the text and have more than one word on a line. When one word is displayed I can pan right, move to the next item with a thumb key or swiping and that will move to the next word.
Hi all!
I just received my Zoomax braille display from NLS. I've updated the version in the reader but still am unable to connect to Mac or iPhone either with usb or bluetooth. Any suggestions would be great. Also does anyone know where to find information about entering special symbols? I have a password that has a # symbol and other special characters that I can't change till I can log into that site. I am trying to figure out how to enter this on the braille Reader. Also what about capitalizing letters while entering?
Thanks for any info and help.
Hello, I don't use the MBraille app as much as I used to, because the built-in Braille keyboard has improved a lot and iOS 18 has great accessibility improvements in built-in Braille; however, MBraille is still practical when making phone calls. Actually, if the built-in Braille keyboard could be used with dot commands, at least for phone calls, even if it is not for everything, I think there would be no need for MBraille; however, there is no possibility of dot commands coming to built-in Braille at the moment.
I am using a phone that is several years old. If I were to purchase a new phone, would input from a braille display be much faster than it is on my current phone?
The other day, I decided to give Braille a go instead of my usual laptop setup. I'm on an iPhone 11 running iOS 14.8 and using a 5th gen Freedom-Scientific Focus 40 Blue. I tried using computer Braille with no luck. Everything I try to type results in a space. When I enable help, it identifies keys properly when I Braille a chord, but literally every braille dot is interpreted as "space". Okay, so I try UEB, and that works better, but the display takes seconds to update. It's no where near instant.
Hi all. I've tried using braille screen input off and on since iOs8 but never have much success. Sometimes I can get it to work for a while, but then, just as I'm thinking its the greatest thing ever, crazy things start happening. The dots don't seem to register correctly no matter what I do. The letter p becomes l or w becomes j and b becomes a colon. It sometimes helps to recalibrate my dots, but more often than not, that makes no difference. I am wondering if others have avoided this problem and find this a useful tool, or do you share my disappointment?
