I am using a braille display for many things and now turned it on tonight. The problem is that it doesn't write what I say and the display iss healthy and new, so is there a way to fix this? It writes strange symbols. I have tried the spanish, swedish and english tables and it is all the äame. It is set on input six dots and output six dots.
Hello all. I am enjoying, the Braille input on ios 8.4. There are some minor bugs that need to be fixed, but I have almost no problem typing English text in grade 2. I had started to test other languages like Japanese and Korean. Unlike English input, some characters were less responsive. I found specific characters I could only enter with uncontracted Braille as well. Has anybody discovered any foreign language problems? I also would like to know where I can report issues like this
Thanks,
Hi,
This could be user error on my part, because I haven't used my braille display for a while. After I pair my Focus 40 Blue to my iPhone XR and turn off either the phone or display, I need to totally pair it again. How can I diagnose why the display won't connect when I turn it on? I've tried turning the display on both before and after I turn my phone on.
I am a blind user of the Kindle app, which I use with my Iphone 5S and my Focus 14 Braille display keyboard. Up until recently, I was able to go to a specific page number or location in a book by simply pressing the Mode button on my Braille unit from the table of contents page. Now, when I hit the mode button to select the appropriate page link, I am kicked out of the book and put back to the menu.
What suggestions do you have? If this is a problem with the new update?
Hey all, for those of you who read Kindle with a braille display. Have you noticed in the latest kindle update, it randomly removes spaces between certain words? I'm not sure if you notice this using VoiceOver voices or what, but in braille it's very noticeable. Anyone know a fix for this or am I just going to have to wait until the next Kindle app update? Thanks!
I am struggling to learn braille. Not so much learning the alphabet, but feeling the bumps correctly. I have got some of the way through the fingerprint course and I have a few labels around the house.
But I'm wondering - is tech a viable way to try to learn braille? I have never used a braille display but I did feel a couple at Sight Village last year. I liked the feel of the Orbit ones in particular as they felt much clearer than paper.
I'm not sure if there's a setting I'm missing or not, but when using braille screen input on any device, letters and full words in print appear between the braille dots on screen. Given that I (and most of us probably) use this mode in screen away, I find that not being able to turn this off is unacceptable. And no, screen curtain is not a solution; I have some sight and it is beyond inconvenient to turn my screen off every time I want to send a text or do a search.
Hi everyone,i know that it’s not the right place to write this, but i am trying to learn finnish language and if someone can teach me finnish letters in braille i’ll be forever grateful. Can someone help me please?
I want to understand the difference between System and Liblouis Braille table particularly in relation to Braille Screen Input using Unified English Braille.
In iOS 18, Braille Screen Input got a major overhaul. One of the main new features is Command Mode. This allows you to navigate your phone while never leaving Braille Screen Input.
If you are like me and have never used a Braille Display, you are not going to automatically know the commands that can be used.
Please find below a list of commands that can be used while in Command Mode of Braille Screen Input. I have tested all of the below commands to make sure they work. But please know that since I have never used a Braille display, I might have missed some.
Hi
Just purchased the BrailleOne 20 Braille Display and thus far liking it more and more as I explore and use. What I cannot find though, is the shortcut key combination for battery level. Please assist?
I work in IT, and am looking for a braille display that is very widely supported. I use an iPhone and a MacBook pro personally, but I also need to connect to windows machines using either NVDA or JAWS, and Linux/UNIX servers via brltty. I was able to borrow an older Focus 40 blue , and it seemed to check all those boxes, but I'm wondering what else is out there. In particular, how can I try before I buy? I don't want to put down thousands of dollars on something I'll end up hating.
Hi everyone, i am looking for a new braille display. I am use for reading and writeing on my iPhone. I have the VarioUltra braille display. Because the status of Visio Braille company witch is unknown i thinking saleing now or stay my braille display? I thot about Focus Braille display 5 gen from VFo Company. What do you think about this? For somebody have this braille display? how's braille display works with ios devices?2
I'm looking for a device with a physical braille keyboard which works with iOS for a student who is learning braille. They don't have a lot of money to spend, so I'm either looking for a standalone braille keyboard (if such a thing exists) or the cheapest possible braille display which supports input. The user is a Spanish speaker and will need a device which supports the Spanish braille code, and they'll be using it in conjunction with VoiceOver running on an iPad.
Hi all,
I have a question for those of you who have updated to IOS 13.3.
I have tried a number of times to select all text in an Email ETC using space with lower G but I cannot get this to acctually select all the text in an edit field.
However, when I go into settings and check my Braille commands it clearly states that space with lower G should still perform a select all any ideas?
I am fully aware that I can use the rotor but even this is sometimes quite difficult as I don't know if the entire text is selected as it is not underlined with dots 7 and 8.
Hello,
I hope someone has been using Braille on a Mac longer than I have and can provide some insight.
I have used Braille on iOS and all its quirky habits for awhile, so I knew a bit what to expect.
How do you interact and stop interacting? How do you access some system menus like the top bar, dock, window and app switchers? Do you have to set up custom commands for those? Do people use their displays with Perkins keyboards in conjunction with the Mac keyboard or trackpad? I am trying to train my hands on what to do when, since I never fooled around with drivers and such on Windows.
