Hello everyone!
I don't know if this is possible, but hopefully someone will know the answer.
I know that on certain operating systems and with certain Braille displays, there is an "auto advance" mode for reading texts, books, etc. For example, there is often a key combination that will automatically pan the braille display so that you don't have to keep doing it manually.
I have a Refreshabraille 18 from APH and was wondering if there was an auto advance mode for iPad operation. I have consulted the manual but can find no references to this topic.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Using a Verizon iPhone with iOS 4.2.6 and a BrailleConnect 12, the phone is not auto-connecting to the Braille display when the phone is turned on. Instead I have to go into the VoiceOver settings and click the connect button each time the phone is turned on. A major inconvenience and usability and accessibility issue for me. I did not have this issue with a previous model of the iPhone and this same Braille display. Has anyone encountered this and found any fixes or workarrounds? (I did try doing a "restore" of the iOS software from iTunes, but that didnt' help.)
when i use my orbit reader 20 with my iphone 7 on ios 13.5.1 as i am in writing this email, i notice that the norma; autoccorrect and auto capitalisation features do not work!
I have now changed for a minute to using the onscreen keyboard and all works fine
i resume on my braille display and the faetures stop working! has this always been a problem or is this a recent bug?
Hello,
I am wondering if anyone has noticed any changes in BARDmobile when using a refreshable braille display? I am confused on how to set up my braille settings. Should they be on computer braille? I think the latest update changed some of the available braille codes, but I am not sure. Anyone who can explain how to set up my braille display for BARD, I would appreciate it!
Hi everyone.
Can you all give me instructions on how to pair my Varioultra 40 with the iPhone now that I have 8.3? What emulation is best to use? I switched it out of Pronto, and the iPhone does recognize the Varioultra, but it won't let me connect to it.
Thanks.
Tif
hi all. Can anyone recommend a user-friendly manual to actually teach me the functions of my brailliant BI 20 X display. The Human Ware manual assumes the user is an experienced braille user. Their doesn’t seem to be anything for beginners. I would really appreciate some recommendations for user-friendly, beginner focused, guides on getting the most out of my display. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Hello everyone,
Today I have purchased QBraille XL from Hims and I have some questions about using a braille display on iOS. Even if that's not my first display, some things are really confusing. If some of these questions were already answered somewhere earlier, please tell and point to the answers!
Hello,
I may have asked this around here before, but can't remember, and if I did ask, I didn't find a solution that met my needs.
I am looking for a way to produce .brl files in Spanish for use on the Orbit 20. The 20 plus can do regular text files, but the 20 standard can not. It has to be .brl or .brf files. I have tried several things, none of which have worked as needed or expected.
Good evening,
Like most people I am getting to grips withhIOS7. However, I have found that my Braille displays (A focus 40 blue and Apex BrailleNote) are no longer paired to my device, which is an iPhone 4S, and when I attempt to connect them again, the phone appears not to see either of these devices. Has any one else come across this issue, and found a fix?
Many thanks
David
I am looking for a device that is a small Braille display that allows you to read daizy books and is blue tooth. I am aware that note takers will do this but they are very expensive. Do you have any ideas or do you know a good place to purchase second hand devices? Thank you
Hi All,
First, sorry if I'm asking an age-old question, but how do you override some of the native KeySoft commands like O and H-chord? I love my phone and Braille, but this would make iBook-reading and app switching so much easier. Not to mention I could properly format an Email!
I heard on a podcast that enter with dots 4-5-6 would work to pass through, but have had no success with it. Is there a certain way the keys must be pressed? Do I have the wrong keystroke? I use a custom thumb-key set, and switching back to standard whenever I want to use my display does not sound appealing.
Hello, I have a Braille Sense Mini that I am using for a Braille Display. Recently, I upgraded to IOS10.2. However, I could not connect the display after trying all resets and restarts of both devices. I contacted Accessibility Support and was advised to download beta software, which I did. I now have a very slow Braille Display. I have an iPhone 5-c. Should I 1) get a new phone? 2)downgrade to version 10.1 or earlier? or 3) wait it out, and hope that there is a patch to fix it? Three would probably be my last choice, because I really miss the Braille.
Hello. I am new to using my Braille display on iOS and new to using Voicedream Reader. I am having trouble getting the Braille display to pan without skipping text and getting the speech to just please shut up without having to mute it altogether! I followed the instructions given on the FAQ page for VoiceDream Reader, but I'm not finding the reader to behave in the way described on that page. It says I should be able to pan to the bottom of the text and then run into the Bookmark button. That doesn't happen.
Hey all, has anyone been able to read IRC output with braille easily in any client? I'm looking for a solution for a deafblind client of mine. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, everyone. I was hoping that Braille would be snappier in IOS 8.1.3. I don't think I am imagining things when I say that when using my RefreshaBraille 18, iPhone 5S and IOS 8.1.3, I am finding that Braille entry is quicker to respond. It is still a little sluggish when I am editing. However, when I'm done writing a text, for instance, and want to quickly go to the top, I press the space with dots 3-6 and it zips to the top very quickly. With text entry, it is just about back to where it was in IOS 7.1.2 for me.
Hello.
I use an iPhone 5 with a Focus 40 Blue display. The other day I did something VoiceOver didn't like and it went away. VoiceOver failed to come back with the three home button command. After various attempts, I took it to the Apple Store because there was nobody with working eyes around. The tech got everything working again; or so I thought. When I got home I found that I had to re-enter my e-mail password and Wireless settings, which I managed to do. Then I attempted to use the focus 40. I found that it was not recognized automatically.
Hello,
By default Braille Auto Advance commands are unassigned to keys on the Mantis Q40. There are not many Braille display keys and I'm not finding a way to assign them to the keyboard. Has anyone found a way to get auto advance to work on Mantis? Thanks.
