Hi guys,

Is there an easier way to insert emojis using a braille display without needing to scroll to the globe on the braille display and then jump back to the search field? Can i create a shortcut for my most frequently used emojis and select the character I want from my braille display?

Sorry if I'm missing something super obvious. I read some threads that discussed emoji input but they covered the braille on screen keyboard and other third party keyboard apps.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Wenwei

Hi guys,
I use a Focus blue 40 brailledisplay from Freedom Scientiffic sometimes on IOS to read books on IBooks or type a to-do-list or type friends in WhatsApp.
Today I wanted to create me a to-do-list on the notes app.
Normally, when I type the letters it doesn't exist a delay. The letters comes on my braille display without any problems. But today I noticed that if I type my words it come a big delay. For example the word "hello" appears instead of a second in 5 seconds.

Hello.
I am not a really experienced braille user and mainly use it on windows and Linux, so my questions about braille on iOS were maybe already answered somewhere.
1. What is the best variant of braille table to use for typing on a display keyboard? 6 dot uncontracted or 8 dot uncontracted braille?
2. Is it possible to translate the word from contracted to uncontracted braille like you can do on Windows by pressing a routing button? I didn't find such option in settings. It would help me a lot in learning the contracted braille.

Hello, Folks.

I have just gotten an Uber account, and would like any suggestions, or a tutorial on using the app with my iPhone 5s and my focus 14 Braille display & keyboard. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer with regard to technology, so would welcome any suggestions on booking rides, contacting drivers, etc. Any help or suggestions would be welcome. Please email me at [email protected]

Thanks much & peace

Hi,

After changing the Braille screen input translation tables to UEB (unified English Braille), on my iPhone and iPad, I’ve noticed several frustrating Braille translation issues. For instance, if I want to type the word "you’re" or "there’s", VoiceOver will input "y’re" and "the’s" respectively. Also, if I type a contraction like "Braille" right before a close parenthesus it will translate to "Brl)" instead of "Braille)". Is this a common issue you guys are facing or is this a fluke on my end?

Thanks!

Hi everyone,
At the end of last year I purchased Ulysses for my I phone 7 but couldn't get  my Orbit reader 20 to work with it I couldn't suss out how to create documents
and the cursor kept jumping around.
As a consequence I got a BI14 from Human ware  which syncs to Gmail         , however at this stage I am unable to create folders on it for all my notes so I
have notes everywhere! I gather you can do this on Ulysses but how do you do it using a Braille display?

Hello,
I installed the golden master of WatchOS 7 through the public beta program few minutes before it was released. I was super excited to try the rotor as well as braille support. However, the option is not available. I should say that my watch is set in Canadian French. I tried to switch it in English Canada to see if that would fixe the issue. Still the same issue. I have a watch series 5 lte 40 mm. The version number is 7.0. The build number is 18r382. Am I the only one to experience this issue?

I'm borrowing an old Focus 40 from a friend. I want to get used to using a Braille display before my Mantis arrives. This is an older Focus, but I'm not sure which generation it is. The problem is, I can't get to the status bar by using chord s. When I try the command, nothing happens. Under the Braille commands, it says that chord s should take me to the status bar. Even if I'm in keyboard help, I'm told that chord s is the status bar command. Just wondering if someone might have any ideas about what may be happening. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello everyone,

Hi. I just got a new Braille Display (VarioConnect12 from BAUM). In order to try it out, I went to the Braille menu under VO, activated bluetooth, found the display and entered pin 1234. After a second VoiceOver said that pairing was unsuccessful, and that VO was "unable to read the driver" for the particular braille device. So, I was wondering if anyone could help me out on that? From all I know the display should be VO accessible, but the strange thing is that I have the same problem whenever I try to pair the MAC and Supervario 40. So I suppose it's me doing something wrong?

Hi all. I just got my nls ereader today, the zoom max version, not the humanware version. When trying to pair the ereader with my phone or iPad I was given the message that the ereader couldn't pair with either device. I entered the pin given in the user guide, turned bluetooth off and back on, as well as restarted both devices, with no luck. My iPad is running the latest IOS while my phone is still on IOS sixteen. Can somebody please help me get the ereader paired to my phone or iPad, it doesn't matter what device. Thanks in advance.

I've been re-learning Braille in order to take advantage of BSI on my iPhone. I probably won't do much Braille reading, but BSI will help me enter text faster than with the on-screen QWERTY keyboard. It was all going quite well. I took a break for a few days and just tried to use BSI again. I am now unable to reposition the dot locations by tapping the right three fingers followed by the left three fingers. That was working fine earlier. I'm running iOS 13.5.1 on an iPhone 8.

Hi all,
I have a problem which I hope someone can help me with.
I recently purchased an Apple TV and was told from other forums that like other Apple products it could be used with the Orbit via Bluetooth.
However upon trying to connect it took ages to locate the Braille section within Vo settings once paired the Orbit would only stay paired for around 2seconds
and then lose the connection which I don't understand as I am right near the TV.

I'm just curious if anyone has had any luck getting an apple tv to work with the nls reader braille display, or any braille display for that matter. I remember having this issue several years ago, and the rumor at that point was that it might be fixed in iOS 16. I kind of forgot about trying to use braille on my apple tv for a while, but yesterday, I decided to give it another try. Specifically, I t ried it with the very latest apple TV box which was released last year and TV OS 17.

Need some help from a Braille user. I just bought a Brailliant 14 in hopes of improving my decades-faded Braille literacy from "utterly abysmal" to, with luck, "not entirely sucky" and I need to understand this new fangled UEB thing. Voiceover makes reference to "English (Unified)" as a Braille table, but doesn't mention it in reference to 8-dot or 6-dot input or output. The Brailliant doesn't mention UEB at all--just computer and literary, with language specified just as English US.

Hello Applevis members. I need your help. How can i type some of these symbuls using braille screen input in Unified English braille table? For example, if i want to type @, i must press dot 4, followed by dot 1. How about another symbuls?
I need to type: slash, plus, greater than, less than, percent, etc.
Thanks for your help and feed back.

Hello AppleVis community,
That's almost as rare as a unicorn sighting: the Apple Accessibility Team has, believe it or not, contacted me regarding two pesky issues I've been whining about. It's a surprise since, in the past, it felt like my feedback disappeared into the digital abyss.

I downloaded the updates that my new OR20 seems to need. I plugged in the device to my mac, but couldn't find it anywhere. I want to use the SD card to update. Will I have to buy an SD card reader? What a pain.

I am having a problem where bluetooth devices disconnect at random. When it happens to bluetooth speakers and such, I don't mind as much, but with my Braille displays, this is a major problem that I hope is fixed soon! Someone suggested resetting my network settings on my iPhone. I did that and am still getting the same thing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
