I disabled show status cells and show extended status cells, but my braille display displays nothing instead of text. What setting do I need to change so I have a more optimized viewing experience? Or is this is yet another shortcoming that I just need to accept?
I hope Apple improves braille support on Mac soon!
Hello,
I am working with an iPhone SE 2020 running 15.2.1. I often connect my Orbit Reader 20 braille display to my iPhone via bluetooth. But when I turn bluetooth off, the keyboard on my phone still behaves like the display is connected. When I go to enter text, the keyboard is gone so the only way I am able to enter text is via dictation. When I turn bluetooth back on and try to reconnect the display, it is not recognized. The bluetooth connection is also lost if I receive a phone call while working with the display.
I have an Iphone 13 and an Apple Watch Series 5 paired to my RefreshaBraille 18 Braille display and am experiencing an issue that hopefully someone can help me with.
Almost a couple weeks ago, I installed the latest IOS updates on both my watch and phone. Everything was working fine with my watch, phone and Braille display until the update.
I am trying to figure out what is happening with my iPhone8. I try to use Braille Screen input, and the following happens; I turn my phone into screen away mode, and it says table top mode instead. Also, it seems that the dots are in the wrong places, and I did check to verify that they hadn't been reversed. I am running iOS 13.2.3. I was hoping today's might magically fix the issue, but no dice. Whats more odd, still, I have another iPhone8, and it does not exhibit this behavior. Any ideas?
I have been using Braille screen input with IOS 9.2 for quite some time, and something really strange happened today. Up until this afternoon, when I put the phone in screen away mode, it would always say "Home button to the left". The home button was actually on the right, but I could enter Braille with the traditional configuration, having dots 1, 2, and 3 on the left. For no apparent reason, this reversed itself today. Now when I get it into Screen Away mode, it says "Home button to the Right", which is accurate.
Hi there all. Just wondering if anyone might be able to help shed some light on a rather strange issue i've just started noticing while trying to pair my Orbit Reader 20 Braille display with my iPhone SE 2022 which is running iOS 17.4.1 (all will be revealed below as to why, to me, this seems very odd).
I've got a super weird issue, and am hoping someone out there might know how to fix it. I bought a book on Apple Books that I would love to read in Braille. If it matters, the book is The Freddy Files updated edition. The book wasn't accessible at all on Kindle, but at least is readable with speech in Apple Books. Unfortunately, the text of the book does not appear on my Braille Note Touch Plus.
Hello there!
One of my student has a very strange issue when She tries to type French on her iPhone, using the Focus 40 Blue V Braille display. She tries to type the word "Je". When she tries to type letter "e" after "j", Voicover announces the entered dots instead of pronouncing the letter itself. After pressing spacebar the word disappears completely.
Hey guys,
So on my iPhone I am using my BrailleSense Polaris as a braille display.
But lately, and I don't know if it's just happening to me here, some labels aren't showing up, specifically form controls.
If I go to say a text field or search field, VoiceOver's speech is the only one that reads the label of it. Where as braille only displays txt field.
This also happens with checkboxes and radio buttons. No label. It's just rd btn not checked sign, and rd btn checked sign.
Hello
A few weeks ago, I got an iPhone 15 pro.
I use Braille screen input daily.
I upgraded from a 13 pro max.
On my new 15 pro, i'm having trouble getting dots 2 & 5 to be recognized consistantly.
i'm also having to recallebrate the dots every time I want to use Braille screen input.
Can anyone else who has a 15 pro & uses this feature shed some light into what might be causing these issues?
The only way I can get things to work consistantly, is if I put my fingers in a really acword position on the screen.
I have had this problem for some time and have tried with several braille displays in the same model, which means this is not specific to my own display. When I write, especially in long texts, the display randomly disconnects and VoiceOver does that bleep sound and then it reconnects with another bleep. Often the last things I type go away and I have to retype them. The display is brand new and I have tried with several and just don't know what is wrong.
I see that apple iOS 13.1 supports lots and lots of braille languages when using a braille display. And it also supports showing math equations in nemeth braille. Where in iOS or on the web can I get example equations so I can see them in nemeth braille? Is it possible to write nemeth math in the notes app in iOS? if so, how, and also then get nemeth braille output? iOS puts all other platforms to shame with the number of braille languages that it supports!
Hello!
i would like to know if there are on mac have there to choose to use in table braille display if is not including more languages? i can to close to otter braille tables? thank!
I have a Focus 40 Blue braille display, a very new one.
I know that it is possible to have several connections of devices. HHow do I switch between the devices I have connected to the display?
Currently I have my IPhone and IPad connected to the same display and I can’t find a way to change connections.
I have just upgrade to macOS Catalina 10.15.4 from Mojave. I’m having an issue with the keyboard focus and the VoiceOver cursor not synchronising even though it is checked in VO Utilities. This is only happening in Safari.
Before I upgraded I could for example press VO + Cmd + H to the header of an article and begin panning through the body of text with my braille display as I read. Once finished the cursor on the keyboard was in same place, at the end of the text.
Hi, Guys.
Using an iPhone with an NLS eReader and VoiceDream Writer to edit and proofread a document. I mainly use a Braille display to read text on my phone, so am not sure how to ask this.
When looking at the available braille tables for my iPhone or iPad, I see two seemingly identical options—one labeled “RTFC” and the other “System.”
What’s the difference between RTFC and System?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
When would I use one over the other?
So many questions, yet so few answers on Apple’s support pages.
