Hi there everyone. I was wondering if there's a way to change the display output to show text formatting when reading in Kindle books. What I mean by this is showing indents for the start of a new paragraph or something of that nature. I tried turning text formatting on but that really didn't do much. Anyone able to help? Thanks!
On my iPhone, whenever I'm reviewing my messages composed in Mail, "Message body is editing" just keeps coming up on my braille display, getting in my way while I'm reviewing composed messages. It's aggravating me to no end.
Is there a way to make it stop from popping in on my braille display?
Hellow AppleVis.
So, here's my delimma. I use a BrailleNote Apex made from HumanWare for school. I store everything on it. I'm wanting to use it less and less, because I feel that my I devices are more relayable. I have bookshare books stored on the Apex, and am wanting to know how to export them as word documents? I know bookshare said you can export books for personal use. Also, for those of you who are students, how do you read your school textbooks? Might I add that some of these books are NIMAC books, so my teacher of the visually impaired can only download them.
for some time now, i have been hearing how good it is to have a braille display linked to my ios devices, and i am had my eye on the focus 14 blue. firstly, is that a good display for ios use? is 14 cells really practical for reading texts e-mails responding to them etc? i just want a solution that saves me keep having phone by ear when out to hear things going on.lastly, does the focus 14 auto-advance work at all in ios 10 or in the upcomming ios 11? since i guess to keep panning an annoyance?thoughts? Will
Hello to everyone,
I started my grad school and need to read more actively, taking notes, highlighting important parts on the text etc. It is relatively easy when I listen it with voice dream. However, I would like to use my braille display much more actively. is there any easy way to use voice dream's text sellection feature with just my braille display?
Do you have any tips for me to use voice dream and my braille display more effectively?
best regards
How to interpret Apple’s attempt to inject not so wonderful features into VoiceOver while very serious bugs have not been resolved and do not seem to be soon. How about if we discuss a deal with Apple to give up new features for the next three milestone releases and Apple in return fixes long standing bugs?
I cannot use my Mac to put BRF files from BARD on my Braille Edge. I can paste the files to the sd card with no problem, but when I open the file on the Braille Edge, no text is there. This is true if I paste a books folder or the individual volumes on the sd card.
Has anyone else had this problem? /Does anyone know what's going wrong? Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi all,
Firstly I do hope everyone's safe and well.
Secondly I am trying to read a book that is in HTML format in VRD with Braille but struggling to find the text area I have to keep arrowing around till I get there. Is there a quicker way.
Alternatively is there an app that will import books in HTML (Have tried easy reader but there was no copy or share option for it to be opened in Easy reader.
As an aside does the new Braille talk app acctually allow you to read the BRF files in Braille as long as Voice over is on.
Any help would be great!
I have just started to read a Braille book from BARD on BARD Mobile for iOS for the first time.
However, the Braille appears not to be processing correctly. For instance the word “Library” reads like “libraary”. Many other signs are Brailled completely wrong.
How can I fix this?
Using a Focus 14 5th Generation Blue on an iPhone 14 Pro with the latest iOS.
Hi. When I have my braille pen slim paired to my iPhone and I try to type, there is a 2 second lag between when I type a letter and when the iPhone speaks that letter. If I keep typing and don't wait for the speech to say each letter before typing the next, I make mistakes. I have typing feedback for both software and hardware keyboards set to both characters and words. At first, I thought it was a slow bluetooth connection and a big delay between when I typed something and when the iPhone received it.
Hello, all. I am running IOS 10 on an iPhone 6 with 16 gb and using a Brailliant 40 BI display, and I recently updated its firmware. I have noticed some major difficulties when trying to write using Braille in Google Docs.
The difficulties are twofold. For one thing, while the braille shows the content I type, it seems that, for no reason, I am put back to the top of the document when I begin a new line or go back and try to read something I have typed. I have never experienced this in Google Docs and am wondering what might be happening.
I seem to be having problems using the misspelled word feature when working to correct spelling under the newest version of iOS. The equipment is my iPhone 8, focus 5th generation Braille display.
While attempting to select and copy information from either a book or a website, using a Focus 40, my student and I are running into very inconsistent results. Here is what is happening:
• Sometimes while selecting words/sentences the content is also highlighted on the screen and sometimes is not (this is important as the student is a dual media learner and relies on a combination of braille and print)
• Sometimes what has been selected (either if it is highlighted on the screen or not) and then copied using c-chord, it copies and sometimes it does not.
Hello. For the past few weeks, I have had issues panning from page to page on both my Brailliant BI and BrailleNote Touch connected to my iPhone 7. I have turn pages with panning on in Braille settings, as well as margins advance in the books settings.
The issue seems to be because when I preis the thumb key that pans to the next page, it moves me to the book title. The page seems to be treated like a normal page, rather than an easily scrollable text box. I hope I can find out the answers why!
Hi, I'm James and currently trying to develop a Braille display for my post grad project. I seem to hit dead ends when it comes to integrating with Voiceover and Bluetooth. It seems that Apple has some proprietary Braille Bluetooth Profile.
Any pointers out there? i've been looking across reddit and apple forums but I get nothing...
Hi, all. I've noticed after updating to iOS 14.4 that my Orbit Reader 20 and the Kindle app aren't playing nicely. Whether or not I use automatic panning, an entire page is skipped backward or forward when I press a panning key. This happens once Voiceover is focused on the bottom of a page, and it's consistent. Before I report this to Apple, is anyone else seeing this behavior? Thanks!
I would like to get in touch with the developers of this app. It's a lovely braille writing application and I was hoping I might lure them into adding the Greek tables. Thanks.
