Hi,
I'm the Italian translator for Zello, the walkie-talkie app available for various os smartphones, as well for their website zello.com
I suppose (and hope) we can say that Zello is pretty well built about usability for visual impaired users, basing on how many appreciations the devs got until now, so I'm not here to talk about it.

Hi everyone!

I’ve just published a small tool I built for macOS called Code File Catcher.

Its goal is to help developers — especially those of us who rely on accessibility — collect all the source files from a project folder so that they can be easily shared with a large language model (like ChatGPT, Gemini, or others). This is very useful when you need the LLM to review code, debug something, or provide feedback — but it needs full context to be truly helpful.

Hello, I have several questions regarding programming on a Mac. I am completely blind and completely new to programming and app development, no experience what-so-ever. I have seen Objective C come up a few times and am wondering if it is the best language to learn, or start with? I am also wondering where someone would take courses or education in computer programming? The school that I am taking courses through right now has been trying to figure out how to make their computer science course accessible to me with no such luck so far.

Hi,
My name is Ricardo, and I am new to app development on iOS. I have developed a little for windows using Java, but I have taken a look at Swift and liked its syntax, a perfect blend between Java and Python I think: simple but thorough.

For UK users NextBuses update now gives real time for London bus routes. NextBuses was always a good time table but now its a must have for regular bus travellers. Been using this app since the new update and the real time bus info for London stops seems very accurate. Also once yu tap on the stop the next bus is shown and how many minutes away it is. Very simple to use and very useful.

Hi.
I am learning basic syntax of Objective-C and need to write an underscore. Does anyone know which keys to press to make the underscore? I am using a MacBook air.
Thanks.

I have Usher Syndrome which means: I have both, Retinitis Pigmentosa (vision loss) and hearing loss..

While "baby blue or light blue" may appear to be aesthetically pleasing to the eyes for those who are visual, those of us who suffer from RP or have low vision, it is EXTREMELY difficult to view. When we go to "invert color" on our iPhone or iPad, the color then becomes orange. In either case, it basically renders the app useless for us.

Hiya guys,
I know this isn't specifically VoiceOver related, but I have just started delving into Applescript.

What I'm coding is basically a windows run command on steroids, which checks to see if I'm trying to make it do something special (e:[email protected], w:google.com for example), and if I'm not, open the app I tell it too.

However, 8 times out of 10, opening an app causes it to open in the background, meaning I have to command tab to it.

It's not a big thing, but it's a little annoying.

Hi - we're developing a Websocket-based browser solution to push live surtitles to blind operagoers, using their iPhones and Brailliant devices. We're encountering a hiccup in testing which we would love to solicit thoughts on.

Browser refreshes of text lines work perfectly to iPhones, and get rendered to speech in VoiceOver - but the Brailliant BI40x doesn't render the Braille output.

Is this a known VoiceOver issue - or a Brailliant one? JAWS from a laptop to a Brailliant works perfectly.

Hello,
I'm building a web game and want to know how one can pass all their gestures through to the webpage while still keeping Voice Over on?
For example, on NVDA on Windows, you can press NVDA+Space to pass all keys to an input element. Is there a similar functionality with Voice Over?
If not, what is the best way of asking users to pass their gestures to the app? Should I ask them to open a page that captures all input, then turn off Voice Over?

Hi all. I'm having a problem when it comes to playgrounds. I'm taking the App Development with Swift course (on my own), and I'm having no luck seeing the results sidebar as it pertains to the code provided as well as the code I type. I've read the long and short ways people have tried--whether it was to go to the menu bar, VO-Right Arrow to the View column, pressing VO-Down Arrow to get to the Assistant Editor submenu, then, once in that submenu, checking the Show Assistant Editor button; or the much shorter option, pressing Command-Option-Return keys to show it.

Hello,
My name is Harrison. I'm totally blind, and would love to develop apps. (and i mean i'm actually willing to put in the time and effort to learn swift) I have a MacBook air 2013,, but I have a question. is it accessible to do this? I picked up a book about swift, and it's telling me to drag one thing to another to make connections and things. how would a blind person develop apps? Thank you.

Hi all,
Does anyone have problem with code suggestion on xcode 10?
I can only move upward by pressing up errow in the suggested list, down errow doesn't work at all.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
Thanks a lot,

Hello,
I don't know whether its the problem of VO or something is broken more seriously, but when I run my app and want to view the state of all variables in the debug area, the variable view is empty. MacOS 12.5, XCode latest

Hello everyone,

I am a visually impaired Apple Developer who developed Talkie Video Player that you may heard of from another forum topic. I would like to announce that I am willing to provide programing assistance for blind and low vision programers.
The sessions would be held online via Skype.

I can teach a wide variety of topics but I can guarantee the best results with the following concepts:
- iOS Development with Cocoa Touch and Swift
- Mac Development with Cocoa and Swift
- Server-side development with C# and ASP.NET Core

Hello developers,

I am running into a problem that I have encountered before and I don't know how to solve it.
I want to increase the version number of an app. However, the project editor tab chooser is not visible.
How can I make it visible again?
In other projects, there is no problem and the project editor is visible.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Kristof

Hi, learning python from bits. And now did a alien invasion game. Now trying to turn it into an accessible game, and chat gtp been helping me out, got an issue, where I use python 3.12 to then run the game in terminal. Have jaws 2026, nvda 2025.3 windows 11 home. And so got visuals studio code. So what is supposed to happen, when you then load the game, it then runs the tts speech and says play and a welcome message. Then use the left, right, up and down arrow keys, press control space to shoot the wave aliens. And then move from the top to left to righ off screen.

What I am picturing for people who are blind is a Word template that has 2” squared cells where you can type up to 250 characters and when you hit enter it will become a QR code. Is this possible? If so, that person could just tab to another cell and make a printable Word doc with up to maybe 16 QR codes on one sheet. They could then label whatever with them and use a phone or iPod to read them. Thanks for any input!

Hi, I'm blind, and I've developed an app that I wish to put up on the App Store. However, aside from visual testing issues, I have encounter another, even bigger issue: app icons. How can I design an app icon for my app? I know there are people we can pay to d it for us, but honestly I don't think the fact that I'm blind should mean I have to pay for a product others who are sighted could do on their own. I'd love to use some sort of design software, but I can't.
