I have a friend who is in the process of losing their sight, who is also an
iPhone game developer. Are there any resources that I can direct them to, so
that they can continue doing what they love? Any help would greatly be
appreciated.

Hello everyone,

As many of you may be aware, Microsoft will be discontinuing their SoundScape app in June. This news is undoubtedly a devastating blow, as there are currently no apps available that can match its accuracy or provide the same level of positional audio and navigation.

Thankfully, Microsoft has released the source code for this app, which means I am considering taking on the task of reintroducing it to the App Store once it is discontinued. However, I will need the help of an experienced app developer to make this a reality.

As the title implies, the attributes role="alert" and aria-live="assertive" are not working as intended with version Ventura 13.6.4 of VoiceOver.
I can't confirm exactly in what version did this issue first appeared, but I can confirm this is not a code issue since it works now with other screen-readers, and used to with VoiceOver.
You may quickly confirm this with online implementation examples of this property. Here is one:

Hello,
VoiceOver can be controlled with APple Script, but what actions are available? The basic scripts provided by VO provideo nly some basic functionality, but as shown by apps like VOCR, much more can be done with VO and Apple Script than that. Could someone provide me with any documentation to the available interfaces?

Dear all,

My name is Dax and I'm graduating as an iOS Developer at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam
I've been making iOS applications for over 2 years now, most of them focussed on visual impaired users.

For my graduating research I'm investigating the following:
How can I develop an iOS application that makes it easy for visually impaired to write and share reviews, allowing visually impaired, expertise and iOS developers to gain insight into the quality and usability of iOS applications for visually impaired people.

Dear applevis members,

My name is Dax and I'm graduating as an iOS Developer at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam
I've been making iOS applications for over 2 years now, most of them focussed on visual impaired users.

I've almost finished making an application called BlindSpot.
It has been developed specifically for visually impaired (VoiceOver) users.

In the application you can read and write reviews for iOS applications, which hopefully results in insights into the quality and usability of iOS applications for visually impaired people.

Hi, everyone. I am the developer of the Snoozy alarm clock app for iOS, and am striving to improve the app's accessibility. I've been getting great feedback from a blind beta tester and would be thrilled to get even more feedback from the community here at AppleVis. One of the app's main features is the ability to change the remaining snooze minutes on-the-fly, via a slider control. I have yet to implement a satisfactory voiceover solution for that feature, so any feedback there would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Apple Vis Users,
My name is Daniel Mitchell and I am a rehabilitation counselor with The Bureau of Services for Blind Persons in Michigan. I work with a consumer who has been working as an Apple Programmer for 20+ years. He is struggling with finding a text editor which accurate enough for him to write computer/programmer code. My hope is you can assist me in finding a programmer who is blind and uses voice over.

I'm in the process of making sure that my app has high quality VoiceOver accessibility. I have the following question, and maybe more in the future. While navigating an entry form that has labels and text fields, is it preferred to have the label and the text field each provide accessibility? Or, combine the label into the text field? I'm thinking that combining the label into the text field reduces the number of elements on there screen that have to be navigated.

I'm the creator of AudioStretch, and I just discovered this site via Google Alerts. I designed AudioStretch mainly for musicians, for example for transcribing music, and aimed to make it as simple and intuitive as possible. While I never thought of AudioStretch as a tool for empowering blind or low-vision users, intuitive navigation of audio files must be important for that group. So I'm wondering - if you could have an audio playback program created specially for blind or low-vision users, what features & characteristics would you want? Bigger buttons? Voice control? Bookmarks?

Hi - We have built an app that helps people interview more confidently.
We now wish to tweak the content for needs of the disabled community and dramatically improve the accessibility.
Does anyone have some ballpark metrics about how many developer days it takes to improve accessibility? It would help me with getting sensible quotes from third-party developers. Or maybe you are interested in quoting for the project. John

Hello, I developed a Braille translation application for Turkish and English. Turkish version released on the App Store. I need feedback from users who know English Braille rules for English version. TestFlight link is here. Thank you for testing the Braille Editor.

Dear Applevis readers,

My name is Cleo and I am part of the mobile app team at TED. We are searching for visually impaired testers owning an iOS device to test our TED Talks mobile app. It is important for us to be accessibility compliant and we would love to get feedback on our app.

We think that our implementation of VoiceOver is pretty good, but we would like a review of all parts of the app to make sure it’s user friendly. So any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Note: At this time, the TED app does not support dynamic type, just VoiceOver.
