iOS and iPadOS

Hello all, I'm looking for the best app you might recommend to use Facebook on my iPhone 4S, with Voiceover. What I'm wanting to be able to do is: Check into places, and read where other friends are at also. Read/send/reply to Facebook messages. Like/comment on others status updates, as well as do all the other features that you can do on Facebook. I've read where the Facebook App isn't really that accessible, and where Facely For Facebook, Ace for Facebook, and one other really aren't that accessible. So which should I use?

I have seen several GPS apps and have no idea which one would be best for what I'd like to do. I don't walk around town, but would like to explore different areas of the U.S. I'd like to be able to choose an area and then browse information for that area like businesses, streets, etc. This would be helpful for me as I travel some.

I would like to be able to look at an area without actually having to physically be there.

Any suggestions? I want an app that has the widest number of listings, as well.

Thanks.

Hi! So I really like to walk around and find new places like coffee shops in unfamiliar areas. Which GPS app do you think gives the best walking directions? I have tried Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Seeing Eye GPS and have found Apple Maps the most helpful because it seems to be pretty accurate, tells me whether the destination is on my right or left earlier in the route, and announces nearby streets and addresses. What does everyone think? Which app (or combination of apps) do you find most helpful?

I own Blindsquare and it is great in town, but now I need a iOS GPS app that will let me capture a route in a US National Park and enter my own POIs on that route. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking I'll probably just use Apple's Messages app once they implement RCS, but I'm hoping for some advice on a good group messaging app to use right now. Currently I do most of my messaging through Facebook Messenger and Discord, and both work ok, but there's one thing they don't do that frustrates me. There is no sound queue when a new message arrives in a message thread that you have open. When using iMessage there's an audio queue for that.

Hello, Everyone.
I previously posted about field recorder accessibility, but this was removed because it wasn't strictly apple-related, which I understand, so I'm trying again.
I have two zoom field recorders, and am relying on a pair of eyes from who ever is around to read the display when I want to change something.
Would something like SeeingAI, Be My Eyes, or another iOS program perhaps be able to read the display in real time?

Hi,
I'm looking for a good app to record in stereo on iOS that won't send my speaker output to the earpiece, in the event I'm not using a headset. Also, it would be cool if the recordings could auto upload to iCloud drive or dropbox, but that's not a dealbreaker. I'd just like to be able to record in stereo with the built-in mic, and preferably not have voiceover come out of the earpiece while recording, as I tend to have a tough time focussing on it to stop recording or otherwise control the phone while recording in loud environments.

Hi all

i find apples built in ap maps confusing and not actually that reactive. Are there better aps out there for navigation purposes for users in the UK paid or free ? that are good with voice over that are good for navigating ??

cheers

Hello Community!

I have tried various Apps.
When it Comes to turn by turn Navigation, I use Blindsquare and Google Maps. But I dont like it when Google maps tells me to take the right, when the Destination is on the left side. I would prefer to know the turn after the next turn, i.e. take the right, then take the left after 200 meters.

What are your prefered Apps? The Apps should also work in Germany. And how do you deal with difficult crosses?

With best regards,

Firebird

Dear all, I have just purchased text grabber and to be honest, I did not have much success with it. At best, I could scan a line of text. Therefore, I would like to ask your opinion on the best OCR app for a totally blind person with iPhone 5. Do you need a portable scanner or a stand for the iPhone? Would that help with text grabber? If not please would you advice me on the best app to purchase? Thank you once again for your help. I hope I can be of some help to you in the future too. Best, John

I have a variety of the available OCR apps one can get on the iTunes store. I am looking to use OCR to help me identify which of my movies have a free digital copy and then to scan the inserts of those that do offer this so I can get the instructions for redeeming and the code included that one enters in the redemption box in the iTunes store. I know that all of the apps have their own strengths and weaknesses and I am not too familiar with these factors since I have yet to make much use of the apps.

I was wondering what are people's thoughts for the best Podcast app available on the iPhone and Mac?
is it still downcast or are there other apps now out there?
thanks

Hi,
Me and my family decided to get me a secured credit card for the holidays to help me start building credit.
For those unfamiliar, a secured credit card is when you give the bank a set ammount of money ($200) and you are able to use that money and you half to pay it off.
What banks/apps do you recommend that are accessable and are blind friendly?
Thanks in advance

I’ve been trying to use the standard Twitter for iPhone app, but I’m finding it frustrating for too many reasons to count here. I’ve even heard from some of my sighted friends that it’s not a great app to say the least. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good Twitter app? I’m looking for one where I can easily read the most recent tweets, like, reply, and retweet them, easily compose my own tweets, and get notified when new tweets come in. I’d be grateful for any and all suggestions.
