I have just observed some strange behaviour involving VoiceOver, Audio Ducking, and Airplay which I thought might interest you all.
I have an Airport Express connected to a SONOS speaker, and I was streaming my iPhone's audio to said speaker using Airplay.
I suddenly noticed that the VoiceOver output was coming from my SONOS speaker instead of my iPhone, but the standard VoiceOver sounds were audible from the iPhone's speaker (clicks, beeps, rotor sounds, etc).
Hello everyone! There are still three months remaining until the launch of iOS 18, but rumors suggest that it will be introduced impressive artificial intelligence features with ios 18, and also an enhanced language model.
This morning VoiceOver suddenly started behaving oddly on my phone. I use 3 different languages on my phone: English (standard), Swedish and Dutch (Router languages). When switching from English to Dutch to read a message, I suddenly discovered that the Dutch voice had turned from enhanced quality to low quality, how is a mystery. Baffled, I switched back to English, only to discover that that one had turned down to low quality as well. Weirdly enough, the Swedish voice is still on enhanced, both voicewise and visibly in the settings.
I am running IOS11.3 on an iPhone 8. Since the latest update, my music starts to play when I am using BoiceOver in other apps. I pause the music, but it starts again. If I open then immediately close the music app, it starts again, too. Also, Siri sometimes opens by itself without me pushing the home button. Oh, I have shut down and restarted the phone, but my problems continue.
I have noticed a bug that’s been around since iOS 13, at least. I had hoped it would be fixed by iOS 14, but this is not the case. Voiceover has a problem where it will paste any text you have copy to your clipboard without you telling it too. It happens when you scroll. Both my iPhone and iPad do this. I have tried restarting them both, on numerous occasions. But this is just a bug that will not go away! It’s really annoying, and can get you into some deep trouble if you’re not careful. Does anyone else have this problem?
I hate the voices in IOs16. I use Serena UK Voice and I don't like the punctuation. In the beginning I couldn't even understand what she was saying. After using the iphone for a week I got used to her but still I do not like her. The voices before IOs 16 where much more predictable. Anybody else feels the same way?
Hello
Since iOS 13, I have selected certain voices to use in certain apps. For example Siri South-African female to speak in my newspaper apps. Siri US English female in Mail, Messages and Notes. Tessa in Facebook. On my language rotor I selected Aaron (Siri US English mail. Catherine (Siri Australian female. Everything works perfectly, except in Facebook. When I open FaceBook and swipe through the posts, it happens sometimes Aaron talks instead of Tessa. Is it a software bug or am I doing something wrong?
I recently bought an iPhone 11, and one of the first things I noticed is the sound. Music sounds pretty good through the small speakers, but voices sound strange. It's not quite robotic, but they don't sound natural. The effect is much more pronounced with lower pitches. It sounds like the phone is bringing out the brassiness and glottal fry in men. It sounds like the phone is doing some hardcore DSP, and it's mildly upsetting. Is there a way to turn it off?
I am noticing a pop sound when Voiceover reads items sometimes for example Iwas Using the UK train times app just now and it is saying 8.14 to London and then a pop sound and then it says on time button. Is this a sound effect apple has added in IOS8 to signify buttons or is it a bug?
Also the Iphone 6 has a fingerprint censor built into the home button. When the phone is unlocked and if I hold my finger over it and move it around slightly for a few seconds, I hear a swooshing type sound effect. Have you encountered that? What is the purpose of that sound effect?
I usually do not use autotune in music but I have no problem with playing with it as a toy. I had AutoRap before but now that is very inaccessible. But this app, Voloca, is a really great app and you can share your autotuned music. You can actually import your own songs but I do believe you can sing to them.
Okay, let me ask first that if you don't have a problem with volume, specifically on BBC iPlayer Radio, then there's no need to post a reply on here. I don't need to hear loads of 'nope, don't have a problem' and 'haven't noticed a problem' replies cluttering up this thread. This is only for those that DO have a problem. I fully accept that I might be the only person who has this problem, hence, I won't get any replies at all...so be it!...smiles
Hi all. When I pair my iPhone to my Google Home (both my original Google Home and my Google Nest Audio) via blue tooth, and set the device type to "speaker," VO comes through my phone speakers as it should. But the volume of VO fluctuates really wildly from the normal volume I have it set at to extremely loud. I can't figure out any rhyme or reason to when it happens, but it happens constantly. Anybody else experiencing this? Any fixes? Thanks a lot!
Hello everybody. Is anyone experiencing volume level issues with IOS 10? Ever since it came out 2 weeks ago It seems I can't keep a decent volume level. I ware my earpods all the time and I have to keep my volume at 75 percent. I shouldn't have to have it that loud, but that seems to be a comfortable level. I also have a pair of Candy Scull earphones, but I've not tried them with IOS 10 yet.
Hello.
I'm facing a problem with the main volume while listening music in my iOS device or playing an audio game using VoiceOver. Each time VoiceOver speeks an item the volume decreases and does not return to the default volume. Even after pausing and unpausing a music, the volume remains the same. I have to pause and unpause the music being played for the third time to have it set to default.
Has any one experienced this? I'm using iPhone 5S. Is there a way to disable this feature?
I have a 4s running 8.1. Starting yesterday I've noticed the volume when listening to my voicemails is quite low, however regular calls incoming and outgoing are just fine. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
Is there any way to increase the volume of the clicks one hears after typing in a letter or number? Sometimes these sounds verifying that I double tapped a character are obscured by background noises or VoiceOver speaking something. Thus I would like to increase the volume of these sounds.
I was listening to some friends type on their Android devices and the typing clikcs were very obvious yet non-intrusive.
Hello,
The volume of iOS alert sounds seems to be effected by the volume of voice over, meaning that the volume of VO and alert sounds is the same. I have my volume for alert sounds set to 100%, and the option to change the sound volume with the buttons is disabled. Does anyone know how to make the VO volume independent of the iOS alert sound volume?
Thanks!
On the Android OS, TalkBack (their screen reader) has the ability to turn the sounds down, and for the device to give small vibrations alongside or in place of sounds to indicate what's going on.
Using ios15.3 on an IPhone 8, is anyone else noticing there earpeace volume keeps turning down? For example When a call comes in I'm finding myself having to turn up the volume so that I can hear the other person. I'd say 99 percent of the time I have to do this. It's like it's not holding. I've tried restarting the phone but it's still happening.
