iOS and iPadOS
This just started happening when I updated my iPhone to the latest iOS. How do I control it, how do I switch so that it does or does not happen, how does this crazy thing know when I have Bluetooth headphones connected and not a Bluetooth speaker. Honestly it’s really cool and really new but I would like to know how to control it. If any of you have had this happen please let me know. If I am supposed to have this happen and everyone else has done, sorry for posting more than one topic.
Compared to the sound level for the voice itself, the sound effects are very loud. Where can I adjust the volume level for the sound effects? Thank you.
Hello, I was wondering if in the new iOS sounds, where you can enable, or disable them. Does anyone know if there is one for when you slide up from the bottom of the screen for home button? I have not been able to find one, but it seems like most of the other sounds have been thought of, even one for screen lock, which I never liked. Thanks so much.
Hello. So, today I updated to iOS 18.0.1. When I put on my AirPods, my voiceover sounds are in mono. I know for a fact, that’s when not wearing my AirPods, my phone has them in stereo. I don’t know what could be causing this, and I can’t find a fix for this. I tried resetting my AirPods, restarting my phone, and pairing them again. This did not fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Anyone else get Voiceover echoing back text that is entered by Dictation in certain places? A quick example follows:
Get lucky enough to get an iMessage while using something like Twitterrific, or even Music.
Swipe down on the notification to reply to the message.
Startt dictation, and notice what happens.
As you speek, Voiceover should say exactly what you say a few sedons after you do so. This leads to some vary interesting repeated text to say the least.
I have an iPhone X and I've noticed that in more recent versions of iOS, if I'm talking on the ear piece of the phone voiceover still speaks if my face touches the screen. I have noise cancelation turned on and all of that. I know in the past if you had the phone to your ear, the screen would basically freeze up so you wouldn't accidentally activate something with your face. This no longer seems to be the case. I even accidentally hung up on people occasionally because of this. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
My wife just upgraded to iOS 16.5 and now Voiceover pronounces "pause equals seven one one" on every icon as she navigates. As she goes from icon to icon it says the name of the icon like it should, then adds "pause equals seven one one". I am also at 16.5, I turned Voiceover on and it does not do that for me. We both have iPhone 12s. I told her this sounds like a debug statement that some Apple developer left in, except it does not do that for me.
Anyone else experience this or can make any sense out of it ?
Hi!
Just wondering if any of you can reproduce this, before reporting it to Apple.
So the thing is, if I'm playing audio through my AirPlay device, in my case the Apple-TV, and then for what ever reason turn VO off and back on again, VO will then speak through the AirPlay device.
This happens both on my iPhone 6 and on an iPad Air 2, and both are running on iOS 9.2
Hi everyone,
Whenever my alarm goes off on either my iPad or iPhone, voiceover speaks very loudly until I swipe to the stop button. Once I double tap stop, it begins speaking at normal volume again. I'm not too sure, but I think this problem happens when the phone rings as well, and sometimes, Siri's volume is unpredictable as well. Thanks in advance for any help.
Jason
Hi all.
I have a strange issue that I've never had before.
I need to record podcasts with demonstration of different apps with VoiceOver, and recently I started to have the issue that when iPhone is connected to mixer via it's litening to 3.5 adaptor the speech of VoiceOver doesn't start from the beginning, the volume of it rases from low to high. And it sounds like you connected bluetooth headphones or speakers to iPhone. As the result the beginning of VoiceOver's phrase cuts off, like one second.
I am running Hi Sierra (latest update) on a 2011 iMac. Of late, I noticed that Voiceover runs in jerks and spurts. This is especially annoying when I use the Read All (VO + A) command. Besides it keeps saying 'Voiceover Settings Activity'. Some poster recommended running the killall command in Terminal but that seems do nothing to VO's behavior. I have even tried changing voices to no avail.
I am wondering if my machine is too old or is there something I can do to prevent this annoying behavior?
Happy New Year to you all and thanks.
I used to think the old days when VoiceOver would crash and restart quite often were finally over, but the issue is back. I've been having the very same issue ever since I updated to either one of iOS 17.1 or iOS 17.1.1, and the latter sounds more likely to me.
I can turn VO on and off on my iphone, but she doesn't say anything anymore, only sound effects. Same thing on my ipad. Is there a bug in a software version? I am updating now to see if it helps, but I see no other complaints about this. thoughts? thanks
Ten days after upgrading to iOS 15.6.1, VoiceOver stopped speaking. The gestures still work, and I get haptic feedback but nothing else. However, if I'm on a phone call, Voiceover works normally until the call is ended.
Also, if I ask Siri a question, I can swipe over the screen and here VoiceOver read any text that is present. But, if I try to switch to an app, VoiceOver stops speaking again.
Yeah. Suddenly voiceover went silent for apparently no reason. I was trying to go to the home screen with the new sweep gestures, when it happened. I tried restarting it but I still get no voice. Has anyone experienced something like this on? How did you fix it?
One of deafblind members of our community brought us her iPhones so that we could perfom certain maintenance tasks she requested. One of them is iPhone 5S and second is iPhone SE 2022.
Both devices lost connection to her Braille display and both provide no speech, only VO sounds can be heard. Since we never faced such issue before we are puzzled and have no idea what might cause this. I know about sound curtain feature in lates iOS, but this is not a case since all sounds are working except VoiceOver speech.
