the strangest thing happened to me after unlocking my iPhone. My voiceover for what ever reason switched to the earpiece and I could not get it back on speaker. the only way for me to fix this was by restarting my phone. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, have you figured out a fix or a possible reason for this?
iOS and iPadOS
Hello
Am I the only one who cannot stand voiceover continue talking after pressing the play button to watch videos or play music?
I think it is quite obvious that we don't want to hear voiceover continue talking unless we touch the screen again.
Your thoughts please.
Cheers
Dave
I have an SE third GEN running 18.5. Yesterday I discovered that the volume buttons werenβt working to turn the voiceover down. I reboot rebooted the phone, but when it came up, nothing would talk. I could feel the haptics, but no voice over. VO came back after a few hours, thankfully. But, nothing else will talk. I opened the radio station app that I have and it would not play. The book I was reading on bard will not play. Several other things will not play. Is this fixable, or has my phone reached the end of its useful life?
I am using an iPhone 7 but have had this problem with my 6S before getting the 7. Voiceover keeps jumping back to the top of an article or list of products. Ex. 1. In the News app while reading an article VO will either stutter and jump back to the top or just jump back to the top of the article. Ex. 2. When searching on the Amazon app and getting a list of results Vo will jump periodically to the top result, even if I am quite a ways down the list. I can touch the screen and it will usually jump back close to where I left off, but this is not the case in the News ap.
Hi
I volunteer for a UK charity helping the visually impaired with technology.
A lot of them are Apple users, and a lot are elderly with little experience with tech.
Teaching voiceover can be challenging and I wondered if anyone could recommend a suitable app to teach voiceover? Iβm aware of VOstarter but is there anything else thatβs a little less clunky?
Thanks
it's not my day, it really isn't! this is the second topic I've posted about an iPhone SE2020 problem today. So, in order to try and resolve the other problem I posted about (my voice being quiet when using the earpiece with phone calls) I tried restoring from an iCloud backup. Since doing so, when I restart the iPhone my Voiceover voice is Samantha. Turning off Voiceover and then turning it back on again restores it to what it should be (UK Siri female) so it isn't the end of the world but what on earth is going on here? any ideas? IOS15.2 by the way.
Hi all,
I just recently upgraded from the iPhone 12 Mini to the iPhone 15 Pro. I'm enjoying the upgrade so far. But I've noticed that if I power my phone off and then back on, VoiceOver will be off and I would either have to tripple-click the side button or press and hold the Action button. Is there any fix for this issue? My iPhone 12 Mini never did that. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you all in advance.
This particular Voiceover thing is driving me a little mad, and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or if there is a fix I haven't found...
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone else has had similar issues.
VoiceOver went silent during my recent 9.3.1 update and the previous update too. I had to ask someone with vision to enter my password for me before VoiceOver began talking. Please can someone help me out in order not to suffer this ordeal the next time?
When on a FaceTime audio or video call, VoiceOver is unresponsive. It doesnt respond when I move my finger around the screen. When I press the home button, it makes the bleep sound but there is no speech. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, has anyone found any solutions?
I honestly don't know how long this has been an issue for me, at least a year but I think much longer. For awhile I assumed this was happening to everyone but now I'm curious if it's just me or not.
Hi. I'm using IOS 12, on my IPhone 6S+. When composing text messages, using Touch Typing mode, I hear the letter that my finger is on, but, when I lift my finger to insert the letter, Voiceover repeats the letter concerned. Is there a setting, whereby I can turn this off, in order to increase my productivity when texting? I hear the key click and that would be enough for me to know that the letter has been inserted. If this is possible, what settinghs do I need to change and where?
Hi,
How do you configure the synthesizer for a secondary language when Detect Languages is on? Currently I use Alex for English and when VoiceOver detects Spanish it switches to a female voice. I installed Siri Male Spanish and put it in the rotor instead, but cannot get VoiceOver's auto-switching to use it. What am I missing? Thanks.
Hello there. For a while now I have noticed that if I turn the VoiceOver voice down to 1 percent, some voices will go silent and others will still speak, but very quietly. For instance, if I have the VoiceOver volume at 1 and I use Samantha, the speech is muted. But if I'm using Alex and it's at volume 1, I can still hear him at the quietest level. Why is this happening and how can I recover speech, rather than trying to go into VoiceOver settings without knowing where I'm at? Thanks.
Does anyone else experience the issue where the VoiceOver volume dips if the phone is left idle, even for a short time? The initial output of speech is quieter and the volume rises back to the set level as the speech continues. Itβs as if it autoducks after a while if the phone is doing nothing, locked or unlocked.
iOS 17, iPhone15.
The voiceover volume in iOS 18 can now be raised over 100%. I tried doing this in hopes that it would help with the longstanding issue of struggling to hear VO speach while on a call. It did seem to help with this, but I also noticed that VO now basically screams whenever I have an incomming call or notification. Is there any way to correct this? I had previously had VO volume set to about 60% in the rotor so that it didn't scream out my incomming caller ID.
It's been a while since I've heard about this bug so I wanted to revisit it since it's starting to really annoy me.
Anyone still having issues where voiceovers volume is still not restoring properly with audio ducking? Mine is slow to restore. I have an iPhone 8 running the lates version of ios 13.
