iOS and iPadOS

Post Date:

Hi Everybody,

Sorry to report that Weather Gods is having some iOS13 crashing.

I'm not running iOS13 myself just yet, but I have analysed the crash reports and made a few fixes.

We have a TestFlight build available which should be more stable on iOS13.

If you are a Weather Gods user and not a beta tester, then I'm happy to extend the beta testing - please email me [email protected].

Thanks
Scott

Hi All,

We have been early beta testing severe weather alerts in Weather Gods since the start of the New Year.

I know many of you have been asking for these alerts and I think the app is now reasonably stable to offer up to a wider audience for testing.

We offer alerts for the US, Canada (English and French), UK, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy and Norway. The alerts appear as notifications on the lock screen, an indicator on the widget, an indicator on the Siri screen and full access to the details within the app.

Hi All,

We have a new version of weather gods, 3.5, which unfortunately has a nasty bug regarding the grandfathering status.

Please don't worry about this, I'm hoping to fix as quickly as possible.

Please send me a feedback email and I can tweak from our servers to put back the access.

Most importantly, please don't uninstall the app.

I'm really sorry for this, despite a lot of testing, this one got through.

Regards
Scott

Hi All,

Just stopping by to say our 1.0.3 update is out.

1. Accessibility improvements:

Post Date:

Hi All,

Just a small bug fix.

The main bug we squashed was the data not auto updating when you resumed the app.

We've got another fix waiting with Apple, 1.0.5, which improves the accessibility of the 'data services' error messages and an automatic way to overcome some of the problems we had after yeterdays data outage - without having to uninstall and reinstall the app :(

Please let us know if you find any problems or need any assistance with anything.

Thanks
Scott

Post Date:

Hi All,

Release 1.0.5 is just hitting the app store.

The main changes are around the error handling.

1. We reviewed the error messages and found them not very accessible.

Before you had to tap a small area of the screen to get the app to retry the connection. Now you can two finger double tap anywhere after hearing the message, and Weather Gods will re-attempt to download the weather.

2. We've also improved how the app handles slow or patchy network connections. It allows longer for the data to come back, rather than giving up quite so quickly.

Hi All,

1.0.6 should be hitting the app store today.

Here's the main changes for Voiceover:

Post Date:

Hi All,

Just a small update from a user perspective, but a large change for us from an infrastructure point of view.

We've added another data server called ICE, the existing one is FIRE.

ICE is our backup server should the FIRE server have any outage. You'll get a 'Data Services not responding' message, tap again and we will switchover to using ICE. We automatically switch back to FIRE when it's back online.

FIRE is based in the USA an ICE is in the UK, so should provide good resilience and availability.

Hi All,

Weather Gods 1.0.8 update is now on the App Store.

The main changes are:

Post Date:

Hi All,

Stopping by to announce the release 1.1 of Weather God is now on the App Store.

There are some big changes in this release including a lot of changes for Voiceover users.

1. Feels like temperature

Now available in Settings. This is applied globally throughout the app. It is also affects whether the gods are awake or not. For example the Ice God might have been sleeping because the temperature was just above freezing, but will now be awake if the feels like takes the temperature below freezing.

2. Timeline

Post Date:

Hi All,

We've got a small update out today.

We listened to all the feedback about the feels like temperature and have updated to have the feels like value alongside the actual temperature. So voiceover will now speak the actual temperature and then the feels like value, assuming of course feels like is switched on in settings :)

We also added a new three finger swipe down gesture to the timeline, this will cycle through the gods on the timeline (not the moon god).

Hi All,

Just a quick message to say we've released 1.1.2 today.

The main change is we've fixed the feels like temperature for the day high and low being wrong with voiceover - we managed to flip our heat index and wind chill :)

Our next update is 1.2 and probably the biggest change will be support for the iPad in landscape mode.

Post Date:

Hi,

Just stopping by to announce that release 1.2 is now on the App Store.

The major change for this release is that we've re-engineered out push notification system and moved them into our new cloud system, which we're calling Olympus.

This means you no longer need to keep Weather Gods in the switcher :) and can safely swipe it away and notifications will continue to arrive.

Post Date:

Hi All,

1.3 should be hitting the app store shortly.

The main changes are:

a) You can run Weather Gods in landscape mode on the iPad - all features supported in landscape.

b) We've got a sunset notification to compliment to the sunrise notification

c) The status bar (battery, wifi, cell signal etc) is no longer hidden.

d) The volume slider in settings has been replaced with a picker, so hopefully more accessible

e) We've added the current temperature to the now summary on the fire god timeline

Post Date:

Hi All,

1.4 should be hitting the app store shortly.

The main changes are

- a fully accessible version of Weather Gods on your wrist, split into two parts; a smart weather complication and a watch app.
- German localisation
- Japanese localisation

Post Date:

Hi All,

Just to let you know that Weather Gods 1.4.1 will be hitting the app store shortly.

This update is mainly for the Apple Watch, and includes:

- Day high and low on the main screen
- Summaries for today, tonight, tomorrow on the main screen
- Improved location discovery
- Performance improvements

Please let us have any feedback, suggestions etc and if you're enjoying your time with the Weather Gods, then we would love a review on the App Store!

The next update will have us switching back to the main app :)

Post Date:

Hi All,

Our 1.5 update should be hitting the app store in the next 12-24 hours.

Something important to note ... the main screen mentions the app being 'subscription only' - please ignore. It will become subscription only eventually for all new users, but not yet. Anyone who has the app will not be asked to take out a subscription.

What's new or changed?

Post Date:

Hi All,

Just a quick update to say that 1.5.1 should be on the App Store shortly.

The main changes are:

1. Voiceover will announce the sunrise and sunset times in the weather wheel in addition to the smart weather conditions
2. Follow me should be working now, however, you might need to go into settings and set the location permission to 'always'
3. We removed the message at startup about the app being a subscription only service.

We've also squashed a few internal bugs.

Post Date:

Hi All,

Another update should be hitting the App Store shortly - sorry for the flurry of updates, we are trying to have more smaller updates and more often. It makes our testing easier.

The updates for 1.5.2 are as follows:

1. iPhone X: hopefully everything will now run fine when people get them on Friday. We've taken Apple's advice and avoided the new touch areas (safe areas Apple calls them). I'm hoping voiceover works just as normal.

Post Date:

Hi All,

Release 1.5.3 should be hitting the App Store shortly.

There are a few significant changes for voiceover:

1. Daily summaries for day / night are now available for each of the day menu buttons. As you swipe along the day menu, voiceover will announce a summary.

2. Enhanced summaries for widget, notifications and Apple Watch. Voiceover should now speak the summary in a more natural way, expanding cardinal points and temperatures. Please let us know if you find anything that isn't quite working.
