Reading the Bible on a Braille Display

Braille on Apple Products

Greetings.

I am wishing to find the best way to read the (Catholic) Bible on a Braille display via iOS. I’m not wanting to have the books right on my display, but I want to find a way to read them from an app or site that already exists on the Internet via my iPhone and iOS.

I have a Mantis.

My particular concerns are 1) the focus not jumping around, particularly back to the top of an element while I’m attempting to read, 2) having something that is easily navigable and 3) not having a whole lot of links or extra formatting to deal with while reading.

Thanks.

Like subject says I have two suggestions for you. My first one is the Library of Congress has a new revised standard version of the Bible from bard, and the second suggestion is you might consider using Bible gateway and choosing whatever version you would like to use hope this helps you.

Especially since you mentioned you have a Mantis, I suggest loading the Braille files from NLS BARD assuming you have access to it. Then you can also have them offline. You may have to brush up on the Mantis's reading ap commands a little, I don't remember them either. But this would be the most seamless and have correct formatted Braille. Likewise, you can get a similar experience with the Braille viewer in the BARD Mobile app.
If you don't have access to BARD check with your country's equivalent library. They nearly assuredly have formatted Braille files of the Bible.

The original post listed three concerns, one was not having a lot of extra formatting to deal with. I have a similar concern. Many Bible apps and websites present the text with chapter and verse numbers, and superscript footnote tags, which interfere with comprehension. What I would like is plain text, without chapter and verse numbers or footnotes, but with the option to turn them on easily if I want to dig in further. I've never seen any Bible solutions with such a feature, and the two previous comments contain no indication that they address this concern.

I've never seen that feature either. I know what you mean though.

Since I lead the Bible study at my church, I prefer to put my Bibles and study materials in the Braille display. I'm not sure if the YouVersion app has the Catholic Bible, but it's not bad. There are also Bibles on kindle, but there is still the focus issue. Just my thoughts.
