iOS and iPadOS
Since upgrading to iOS 11, I seem to be having more problems than before whenever I try to access voicemail messages. I'm with AT&T, have an iPhone SE and they use visual voicemail. From what I've read so far, it's sounding like once you bouble-tap on a voicemail message and hear it, you can't replay it again, you can only read the transcript data.
Hello. I am trying to use voice control with voiceover on my iPhone running iOS 14.6. I understand from an earlier podcast on this site that this was possible to do reliably an iOS 13. However, I am not able to get it to work reliably. For example, when I issue a voice command to double tap on an item, the wrong item is activated. As another example, when I am on the home screen and issue a verbal command for voiceover to swipe left or right, I am moved to a different screen but not to another item on the same screen.
Is there any way that how much VoiceOver speaks, especially within a WhatsApp group chat, can be reduced? For instance, when clicking on a message it mentions all the details, the person’s name, phone number, emogies etc, before eventually getting to the actual message. So it says Message or document from maybe John 0721234567 plus all the emogies at the person’s name. When it is a replied message, it adds, Replying to a message from maybe the person’s name and phone number. is all this information necessary?
Hi everyone,
Ever since updating my iPhone 8 to 15.3, VoiceOver reads the time as follows: 12 colon 05 P dot M. I do not have this issue on my iPad.
I tried many of the suggestions indicated in this thread with no luck, even though these are two separate issues, and I have my punctuation level set to some. VoiceOver is as verbose as I want it to be in literally every single context. Does anyone else have this issue and if so, how did you make it go away?
Hi all,
I have an App for the iGrill thermometers by Weber.
When the temperature changes by one degree, Voiceover announces the new value automatically.
I have another App for a pressure sensor, but on this one Voiceover doesn't do that.
My understanding is that this auto speak has to be supported in the App.
I talked to the developer and they told me that they don't have plans to change it.
Does anyone know if there is a workaround it, other than changing the App?
Hi friends,
When you are using the rotor and when VoiceOver says, Headings, it says the number of headings that are on the web pages.
Is there any way to stop VoiceOver from saying, Headings 33 headings when you use the VoiceOver rotor?
Any tips would really be appreciated.
Is there any way to stop voiceover from announcing the caller ID loud out to the world. I have iPhone 13 pro running on IOS 16.4.1, and if my phone is unmuted and the phone rings, voiceover announces at full volume who is calling. Muting the phone through the silence ringer isn’t a solution, as the vibration sometimes can be missed and missed calls.
I've submitted the following bug report to Apple regarding audio destination in Voiceover when using a Bluetooth speaker that supports keeping speech on your phone. In this case, it's my beloved Bose SoundLink Mini 2 SE. The bug report is as follows:
Lately, even after getting a new iPhone, VoiceOver will suddenly, and abruptly, adopt the same kind of output heard when you are in a phone call. I could be reading an email, and then, all of a sudden, VoiceOver sounds as if I am on an active phone call, non speakerphone. I am not on an active phone call.
When I play some peace of audio again, or any media, then VoiceOver behaves normally, and stops sounding as if we're on an active phone call.
Hi,
I know the native youtube app can play videos with subtitles,
Voiceover can locate it within the player,
but when voiceover focus is on the subtitle, if the subtitle changed, voiceover did not automatically speak the new subtitle and I have to pause the video and read the subtitle manually and replay the video.
I would like to know any anlternative way that can have voiceover auto read out those subtitle while the video is playing.
Any alternative video player suggested?
Or any alternative ways?
Thanks
I'm sure this is a bug with the new audio ducking but has anyone else noticed that voiceover will raise it's volume when dictating, watching videos, etc. wand doesn't turn itself back down? Has anyone found a work around for this?
Thanks
I have listened to podcasts where Thomas gets his phone with VoiceOver to read the lyrics of the song that is playing. How did you do that? My devices won’t read them to me. I have a Braille display and I can swipe through them, but they don’t automatically read them out. Thanks.
I discovered an interesting Shortcuts automation VoiceOver bug in iOS 18 and 18.1. This has been confirmed by Apple accessibility with an explanation and workaround below.
Create a new automation. Select the trigger, and choose next. I chose to have it run when the phone connects to a specific wi-fi network. So I choose the wi-fi trigger, and on the next screen select the saved network and then choose next.
Hello!
I upgraded my iPhone SE to iOS 13.3 last week. Since I have done that voiceover behaves very unstable on my device. Especcially when I am browsing through web content, both in Safari as well as in other app's web views, Voiceover seems to crash very often and restarts it self automatically (indicated by announcing "Screen Curtain is active" or whatever this is called in english iOS version). :-)
Got a new iPad Pro for Christmas. No home button. How do I enable Voiceover right away, before starting the setup? Thank you!
