iOS and iPadOS

Hey Everyone,

I am wondering if anyone else is having this issue sometimes. I have an iPhone 14 and I have iOS 17.0.3 installed. Does anyone have the problem where while your device is ringing with a regular call, your voiceover and screen freeze on you where you can not answer the incoming call? I have this happen to me about 2-3 times a week. It is frustrating not being able to answer an incoming call. I am lucky that I have 2 other devices besides my iPhone 14 that I can answer calls on.

Thank you!

Hello World! I freshly discovered a VoiceOver glitch with Apple Mail, but ONLY if you're a blind developer exchanging source code.
During VoiceOver's initial "forward scan" of text-based E-Mail content with embedded or inline source code of either the Swift or C programming languages, VoiceOver will announce something to the effect of "BUY module."
On a "repeat scan", VoiceOver reads the embedded source code as text.

When I'm composing new mail messages or replying to messages in the iOS Mail app, I find that VoiceOver behaves erratically. When I swipe to move the cursor by characters, words, lines etc it seems to misreport the letter the cursor is next to. For example, it will announce a space, so I'll start typing thinking whatever I'm typing will be followed by a space, only to find there was no space. It's kind of hard to explain exactly so I'm hoping someone knows what I'm referring to.

Hi everyone,
I've got a serious issue with VO on my iPhone SE since weeks or even months. The problem occured first after ugrading iOS from 14 to 15.
When navigating apps, speech is often interrupted and VO gets stuck. On screen, it looks like VO is reloading itself in a loop.
As a workaround, it sometimes helps to reload VO manually (home-button tripple-tap) or removing some apps from apps switcher.
Does someone have similar things on their iphones, maybe related to iOS 15 upgrade?
A iPhone reset didn't really help.

Best
Ben

I use voice over on my phone with BARD. How do I delete books that I have read on my iPhone using voice over?

Hi there,
I don’t know if anyone has been recently encountering the bug where Voiceover incorrectly labels words as misspelled, despite of the words being properly written. I face this issue with both English and German; both spoken at a professional level, by the way. The issue started occurring with the iOS 17.2 update. The device being used is an iPhone 14 Pro.

VoiceOver is speaking a lot more of the HTML elements with IOS 10 in Safari when flicking around. The most distracting part is that landmarks are spoken before any text, so you have to wait for it to go through all the landmark information, like article and so on, before you hear what the heading text is. It's also speaking all the table information, like Colum and row number with the flicks.
I can't find any way to lower the web page verbosity and it's making web pages difficult to read. Anyone else noticing this?

Hello. I am finding that voiceover is skipping certain elements on webpages, Such as certain search results on a Google page. This happens whatever method I use for navigation, including swiping right and left and keyboarding with theright and left arrows. I don't have the impression that the cursor is losing focus but simply that it is skipping elements. I am wondering if other people are experiencing this and if there is any work around. Also, is Apple aware of this problem? Thank you

I have updated my iPad air and mini to ios 9.1. I'm happy with the results except for Voiceover performance. On both devices I now have to hold my finger on each on screen keyboard character before Voiceover says what it is. In ios 7 Voiceover would speak the character the instant I touched the key, now I have to hold and wait. I am wondering if anyone has found a way to remedy this. I notice there are new settings for touch so maybe I need to tweak those. Thanks for any advice.

Hi all. I've noticed that, on my iPhone 5S in all versions of IOS 8, Voiceover speaks very quietly when I use the touchtone keypad while I'm making a phone call. I've tried using the rotor to turn Voiceover's volume all the way up, but that does no good. I've tried turning the phone all the way off and resetting it, but nothing's worked. Is there a fix for this or has Apple broken this. I had the same problem in IOS 6. When IOS 7 came out it went away, but with 8 it's come back. Thanks a lot,

Josh

Hi All,

Today I was using Voice Dream Reader to read a Kindle book I had recently purchased.
While reading a sentence, the voice in VDR announced the word dot between two sentences.

Example:
This is the first sentence in this example. This is the second sentence in this example.

After investigating further, I noticed that there was no space between the two sentences.
This seems to be a problem relating to the file format I converted my purchased Kindle book to.

Voiceover will say incoming call but then won't say whose calling. Even with Audio Ducking on it still cuts off whose calling. Sure stopping the ring tone and swiping isn't a big deal, still I would like it to announce the call or even for Siri to announce the call. I was told Siri won't do it because Voiceover is supposed to do it which it's not any suggestions?

VoiceOver Issue with Direct Touch

I am experiencing a persistent issue with the VoiceOver feature, particularly concerning its Direct Touch functionality, which is intended for use with non-compatible applications and games. The problem arises when previewing an image in the Quick Look feature within the Files app. As I swipe to locate the 'Done' button to exit Quick Look, VoiceOver's cursor, upon reaching an image object, inadvertently activates Direct Touch. This requires me to repeatedly disable and re-enable VoiceOver.

As of the latest version of the YouTube app, I'm experiencing a strange thing. I'll be using the app as usual with VoiceOver, and every few seconds VoiceOver will say "Button -- disabled" no matter where I touch on the app. I have enough sight to see that the app appears totally normal, and when I turn off VoiceOver the app responds normally to touches. It's almost like there's some invisible barrier between me and the user interface when this happens.

I am currently using the iPhone XR. Since updating to the iOS 14.4 software, I’ve been having a lot of problems using voice over. After ending a phone call, the speech stops working. I have to turn voiceover off turn it back on order for it to work. It’s been happening a lot lately. It began to happen when I updated the software to the 14.0. They keep telling me that it is a software issue. I don’t think it is anymore. Is anyone here having the same problem as I am? If not, then that means I have to get a new phone.
