iOS and iPadOS

Hi All, I had to get a replacement iPhone 4S yesterday because the volume button broke on the previous one. With this new one, I've noticed That when on a call, and I get an email of some sort, voice over does not say notification from email as before. Voiceover speech is turned on, when this happens. Any thoughts as to why this now occurs? Also, is your volume both on the phone and speaker phone supposed to turn down all the way while talking, or just down to a certain amount? Thanks for any and all feedback. Shane.

After updating to IOS 16.3, I note the following behaviour; VoiceOver is quite slow to respond after a finger swipe (several seconds, up to 3). Anyone else experiencing this annoying behaviour? Needless to say that prior to the update, swiping would produce an immediate response from VoiceOver. Any help to remedy the situation will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hello all,
Has anyone else encountered Voiceover freezing up while using Safari, twitter and others on iOS8 iPad Air? I mean it no longer speaks and nothing else will either. I have hoped it was a lag issue, but no.

The only fix I have found is a hard reboot and I am now doing this around six times a day. I have ensured the new Speak Screen setting is off also. Any other ideas and fixes appreciated.
Cheers

How can I stop VoiceOver from randomly speaking while on a phone call.
It will for example announce incoming messages. Or say the person’s name whom I’m talking to.

I’m on IOS 14.5 with an Iphone 12.

Thanks in advance.

I have an iPhone SE 2020.

Since upgrading to 17.2.1, I've noticed that VoiceOver speaks random words while the phone is locked. This is not a notification; there are no new notifications.

The first few times, it happened while my phone was in my hoodie pocket, so I had to wonder whether I was hearing it or hallucinating. But it has happened twice in the past couple of days, once while the phone was on my desk, and again while I was listening to an audiobook with wired earbuds.

I am running the latest iPhone operating system. When I go to certain websites to place orders for tickets, for events, voiceover is reading, mysterious countdown timer on the websites, making the webs websites, hardly usable and accessible, and I cannot navigate the website. How do I turn off the constant reading of these times? how do I turn off the constant reading of these timers?

Hi everyone, I am a relatively new user to IPhone and IOS, so please forgive me if this question has been answered before. Whenever I get a notification like a new mail message, text message, missed phone call etc, and my screen is locked, teh sound for that particular item plays and then voiceover says "one notification" and then the time of day and then a few seconds later, it says "screen locked." Even when my phone is set to mute, it does this.

Hi. i'm new to the site and love it. Been using iOS's accessibility since the beginning, and I got used to iOS 4. But now I've found something weird, and I hope the community can explain what's going on. I bought an eBook (in PDF format) about a month ago and used iBooks to read it as I could utilize the full feature set of Voice Over unlike in Good Reader. I was able to drag one finger anywhere on the document and choose what to read, then drag two fingers down to read from there. In the new release of iOS 5, the only thing I can do is start from the beginning of every page.

hi, I noticed voiceover does very good reading subtitles in its tv and movies apps. But what other apps does this voiceover subtitle reading feature what other apps does it work with? I am interested in watching anime with subtitles if possible, having voiceover read the subtitles for me on both IOS, and apple tv 4th gen. Also does apple tv 4k have voiceover features that my normal standard apple tv 4th gen does not?

Hello everyone, I recently upgraded to iOS 8.3 and, generally, I love it. However, I am having one problem that is a little more than a minor annoyance. Lately, voiceOver has been reading text in third party apps out of the order that it has followed within said apps in the past. At first, I thought this was an app specific issue, but I have now experienced this in three different apps, and I believe it correlates with the upgrade from 8.2 to 8.3. I have not seen any mention of this bug elsewhere, but I thought I would ask just in case to see if anyone else is experiencing this.

Hello, team. I hope and wish you are well.

From iOS 17 Point zero, persisting until the current stable version, 17.1, When We Set VoiceOver to announce a number of Unread notifications while the device is locked in the verbosity session of the VoiceOver settings, Whenever the device wakes up, the number of notifications is pronounced, but soon after the notifications are all read in sequence. This happens every time.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1) make sure that VoiceOver is enabled;

2) let the notifications accumulate;

Hi all! For some reason, the VoiceOver Recognition option in settings is messing on iPad OS. I have looked in the same place it is on my iPhone and it doesn’t appear to be there. Thoughts?

Which versions of the iPad does the new voiceover recognition features work on? I got a new iPad 5 months ago, updated to IOS14.1 or iPad-OS rather, and the voiceover recognition features do not show up.

Hi All,

My name is Jen. I'm a design student at the Rhode Island School of Design. I'm currently working on a project that it is all about Voiceover. I'm amazed by the capabilities of this technology. However, I think it's unfortunate that audio doesn't seem to get as much attention as do the visual aspects of web and app design.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share some frustrations with Voiceover, or some of it's quirks.

I'd really appreciate it!

Best,
Jen

I was just browsing a news app when suddenly the VoiceOver voice changed and it sounded like the compact one. I went to settings and looked to see whether it had changed itself to the default setting in the VoiceOver settings, but it was still selected as English UK Enhanced as the default setting. I've tried turning my phone off and back on again, tried hard resetting, tried deleting the enhanced voice and downloading it again. None of these have worked.

Hi, just looking for a bit of advice on a problem, I have with the VoiceOver Rota. I am trying to play a word game that uses the Direct Touch Area. When I first went into the game, I thought I had turned on the option for the Direct Touch Area in the rota. It doesn’t seem to have worked and now when I go into the game, it is telling me to use the Rota, but when I try to use the Rota, nothing happens, and no Rota options are available. This means that VoiceOver cannot speak anything on the screen.

Post Date:

Hi

I'm using iOS 9.3 on my iPhone 5C. I was wondering how VoiceOver chooses the default rotor option. For example, if I were to turn Voiceover off and then on again, and entered a text field, would it default to the first rotor option [as listed in VoiceOver settings], or the characters option, as it is the smallest navigational increment? I want VO to default to words, but am not sure if this is actually possible.
Help appreciated.
