iOS and iPadOS
I am using an iPhone 6s plus, my software version is 13.3. I turn on VoiceOver (Accessability / VoiceOver on) and open a book in Kindle, then swipe down with two fingers for continuous reading. Until the last two upgrades voiceover would read the book to me correctly except for some odd pronunciations.
I have noticed:
That in iOS 13 and above, voiceover will only read the second number in a series or column of numbers
for example, if I am looking at my banking app, and it says $350, it will only say the number five
Hi folks. Iāve been having a problem with my phone for a while where sometimes very randomly and sporadically, VoiceOver will only be talking out of the top speaker and you hear absolutely nothing from the bottom speaker. I Iām using an iPhone 8 Plus with iOS 14.3 and this actually has been happening for me since iOS 13.7. I know my speakers arenāt damaged because when Iām playing audio for everything else, like watching videos, listening to music, podcasts, etc., stereo sound out of the top and bottom speakers is perfectly fine.
So I've been having issues with Voiceover not coming back up after I get off a call, but I simply shut down VO and bring it back up. A pain, but it works.
This morning, Voiceover is only working when I ask SIRI something, and I can get voice on the SIRI screen.
But as soon as I close the SIRI screen, Voiceover goes away.
I have powered the phone off and back up, I have stopped and started VO with SIRI, cycled VO off and on with triple tap, nothing is working.
I have made no updates recently, nor any changes.
Hello team, how are you?
Since iOS 17.0, I was able to identify immediately after installing the system that the page loading sound played by VoiceOver is very low, with almost zero volume.
To reproduce the problem, simply open Safari and start loading any page, with VoiceOver enabled and its sounds turned on.
Hi folks,
I hope youāre all doing well! I wanted to reach out regarding a problem Iām experiencing with the YouTube app on iOS when using VoiceOver.
When I try to adjust the playback speed, the app crashes suddenly. Additionally, Iām only able to see a limited set of speed options: āNormal speed,ā ā0.75x,ā ā0.50x,ā and ā0.25x.ā The faster speed optionsā1.25x, 1.50x, 1.75x, and 2xāare not visible. Interestingly, the Screen Recognition feature makes all speed options appear again, but that workaround isnāt ideal.
Maybe it's just me and my hearing, but I think the voiceover pops to slide to unlock, app switcher, etc. need to be louder. I can hardly hear them. Is there a way to actually turn up the vo sounds without it turning up the voice?
Thanks
Hey EveryOne,
I was just messing with my VO/ Accessibility Settings, because My phone just stopped giving me haptic Feedback when I was interacting with my phone.
I have sounds switched to on but I was still not getting the Haptic Feedback so I went into Accessibility Settings and Vo Settings to see if I could fix it⦠I turned a couple of settings On/Off (But I CanāT Remember Which Ones Lol) And now after every letter/Word/ Tap and after interacting with any apps etc, VO now is saying āFrameā!!!!
Literally After Anything VO Speaks⦠I Get āFrameā!!!!
Hi all, Since upgrading to IOS8 I have noticed a few bugs with Voice over.
I recently bought an ipad Air 4 (ios 14.4). Previously I used an ipad Air 3. The Air 4 has considerably more power so I was not expecting to run into serious new Voice Over problems. Problems are mostly with but not limited to safari. When loading pages from a site with a mixture of text, pictures and videos, VO will start to read the text ok but after a few lines will stop and Safari will completely lock up. After waiting about 20 seconds it will unlock but VO will be chopped up and unusable. I then give up and accept this web site is not accessible.
I am registered blind and my life was made much easier when I purchased my iPad. I could shop, email keep in touch with friends and family, listen to books on my kindel app.
Now my iPad is useless voiceover keeps switching on and off and is causing all sorts of problems for me. When will this problem be fixed???
Helping my mom configure her iPhone and I wanted to see if anyone here has suggestions.
She has extremely low vision + hand tremors and issues with fine motor skills.
Using the phone exclusively through Siri works well for her. Using individual apps through the "swipe + tap" navigation of VoiceOver is too complex, but she needs a few of the "bonus" features of VoiceOver (announcing notifications, extra verbose Siri reponses, double tap to answer / hang up, auto route between speakerphone / ear).
When I turn this feature on with my iPhone, I lose voiceover speech. Itās really that simple and it shouldnāt be that complicated. I was trying to stream a Twitch thing on my phone to my new television. It has the feature. You can airplay into it. I used the feature from the control center if that helps. Iāve never done this before. Itās probably an obvious mistake. Thank you for any help.
Hi all, Is there a way to correct voiceover's pronunciation of words? My example is: I have the AppleInsider app. And when I get a notification from them, VO pronounces it applenesider. Not a big deal at all but just curious if VO can be changed like Jaws to correctly pronounce a word.
Good morning to all:
I have an issue when trying to change the way words are pronounced in iOS. I have no problem getting the entries done, usually changing the way someone's name is spoken. However, when that person's name becomes a possessive, i.e. an apostrophe s is added, it reverts back to the incorrect way of pronouncing. There is no option I have found to correct words with apostrophes. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
I have iPhone 4S on iOS 7.0.4 . If I open my contacts I can't scroll down the screen with VoiceOver on? Is there a way to do this?
