so, technically speaking iOS and iPad OS are two similar systems and have the same core functionality, iPpad OS is more aimed at the productive side and has some functions we iPhone users are missing.
I'm currently looking at a cheap iPad I can get for a posible productive device so w麓I was curious about something.
I can only find the gestures for the traditional iOS on the iPhone, what I'm searching for is a list of things and gestures that work different on the iPad than on the iPhone and what extra functions I have available.
Hi.
I am wondering if there are voiceover commands for changing volume of my iPad and would really appreciate other good keystrokes for VoiceOver. Please note that I don鈥檛 seem to havre any fm keys.
As the subject line suggests, after upgrading to a new shiny iPhone12 pro running IOS 14.2, after I create a folder, (for this example lets call it music), when I navigate around the OS I'm continually hearing Voiceover say music before reading an element.
Also music is spoken in empty search fields.
Hi friends, I鈥檓 experiencing an issue where VoiceOver cuts out at the beginning of sentences.
When VoiceOver starts reading something, it often skips the first word or the first two words.
I鈥檓 using an iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 18.3.
Does anyone else have this issue?
I've come across an annoying bug which I'd like to know if other people have come across. My phone crashed today when I was making a call. I tried ending the call but it wouldn't let me. VoiceOver got deactivated and I couldn't start it up using the triple click of the home button. It reset the VoiceOver settings to the default ones when I finally got it talking again with sighted assistance. I'm using IOS6 and Iphone 4s. This is the first time this has happened but it is v annoying especially as I was travelling outside when this happened.
I updated to iOS 11.1 yesterday and it鈥檚 basically been a mess ever since. I can鈥檛 get voiceover to read anything! It lags, maybe reads the first line of whatever I鈥檓 trying to read, and promptly crashes the app. This has happened with Outlook, Safari, email, and settings so far. I鈥檓 using an iPhone 6 but this is also happening on my iPad 2. Turning voiceover off hasn鈥檛 changed anything and apps still crash even after it鈥檚 off. Is there anything I can do about this problem? Thanks for any help!
Hello Apple Viz community,
Ever since I got my iPhone 6, I've been having frequent voiceover crashes when browsing web pages on safari and when reading texts continuously with VoiceOver. Has anyone been experiencing similar issues and if so, any suggestions for a solution?
Hi,
I've just had Voiceover crash whilst using the BBC Iplayer app and I've had to use Itunes to get it to speak again. Does anyone know how to exit a program once you've listened to it on Iplayer? VO won't let me navigate around the screen.
Anyway, I exited voiceover with the triple click of the home key but I was unable to restart voiceover again by tripple pressing the home key again.
I couldn't find another post talking about this bug, so I decided to create a topic. Anyone else experiencing this? It happens frequently. Voiceover stopping and restarting on it's own. This is especially annoying while typing or swiping through apps. I'm on an iPhone 13. Hoping this gets fixed because it's awful. Only started happening after the update.
With the popularity of audio input interfaces, like the Tascam IM2 and IXJ2, that also takeover iOS audio output in less headphones are availible, Voiceover Custem VibraLerts could be very helpful. Of course, other uses could also be found for the VibraLert, givin various types of situations.
When browsing over something like a newsfeed, which has a title, time, byline, content, and maybe some other controls such as Like or Comment, do you prefer that VoiceOver read out each element separately? Or would you prefer the whole item to be read aloud and the possible actions be put in "Actions Available"?
If image description is on, VoiceOver seems to treat text fields or table cells that contain a single character as though it is an image, and provides a spurious description of it. For example, if I encounter a table cell containing the single character "1", VoiceOver may say "one straw drinking". I've reported this to Apple; has anyone else encountered this?
In What's app, when I select an audio message to be played, voiceover attempts to describe the image after I double tap, such as "Possible person, possible text"
This causes the beginning of the message to be unintelligible because voiceover is stepping on it.
The workaround for me is to stop speech, then double tap, but surely there is a more elegant way.
I made sure image descriptions was off in voiceover settings, but no dice.
Any suggestions?
Thanks much.
Suppose you wish to share a photo and are searching for the desired option in the share menu, or you have a shortcut set to bring up a dialogue box and prompt you to make a selection. There should be other similar instances where VoiceOver fails to distinguish the popup window from the main window, but these are two that I can think of for now. I don't know about VoiceOver on MacOS or iPadOS, but apparently we need better object navigation for VoiceOver like that of NVDA for all Apple operating systems. Does the iPad differ from the iPhone in that respect?
Someone I know has court and the documents on the website are in PDF.aspx format. VoiceOver doesn鈥檛 read this format and image explorer only reads a little bit. Is there a way VoiceOver can read this type of format?
Thanks
I have a new iPhone SE three running iOS 15.5. When I turn on my phone every time the screen curtain comes on VoiceOver does not come back on. As you have to enter a password to unlock the phone I鈥檓 not able to unlock it anymore. I cannot turn on voiceover with Siri or the home button before unlocking and VoiceOver does not turn on on the lock screen when the phone restarts.
Is anyone having trouble with voiceover not reading messages when the iphone is in locked status? I get an alert that I have a message, but the message is no longer read. The messappears in the middle of the screen but I have to tap on the alert before voice over will read the message to me. If no one else is having this problem, what can I do to resolve this?
Thank you
Tanya
Hi,
I just realized that one of the reasons that I don't use Microsoft Word on my iPhone is that when I format text for sighted people, that VoiceOver does not speak the styles and font information, such as bold and italic. On the PC, with a more robust screen reader, such as NVDA, you can set it to read the names of Word styles, as you come across them, which gives you a better idea of the structure of your document.
