Looking at the manual for the Focus 14 blue, I see quite a few commands for using the Focus with jaws and a PC, but I would like to learn how to use the Focus with my iPhone SE, since that is the reason I have it. Are there podcasts or tutorials of any kind on this subject? Thank you.

Hi,

Has anyone with a focus 14 braille display noticed that when typing in edit fields, or using the spacebar for chorded commands such as switching braille input/output modes that sometimes it doesn't do it? Has anyone also noticed that when your typing, you'll sometimes see spaces that you didn't put in the edit field?

Hi all, So i am acquiring a focus 14 for use with my iphone 13 pro. I have a couple of questions please. Can i unlock the phone and enter a passcode all from the focus, if so, how? can i use dot firmness in ios 16 or not? thirdly does anyone who potentially uses the scratchpad outside of ios, know how i can get to recently used files? also, the big question on my mind is, when the phone is unlocked, how can i type an app to open it? I know it will not work like Braille Screen Input, where I can say type f a c e b flick and hear facebook, then open it.

I'm not sure where to put this. I have a Focus 14 bluetooth braille display. For some reason1 whenever I type on it, my iPad won't take it. It just stays in the field where I'm typing. Whenever I hit space it moves to the next field. I did a forget this device and reset my braille display. I have even restarted my iPad and it still does the same thing. It's hard to search for something.

Hello,
I was beta testing iOS & iPadOS 17.
Now that the "Release candidates" are out, I've installed them.
However, a few weeks ago, I was having issues between my Focus 40 Blue 5th Generation Braille display & my iPhone 13 pro max, which runs the RC of iOS 17.
Due to these issues, I had to unpair my braille display from the phone.
That's fine, however, I'd now like to pair it back to the phone & cannot do so.

Hello, I'm trying to use my focus 40 braille display to type ion my MacBook. it will not let me type in contracted braille despite the fact that I have selected six dot contracted braille as the preferred writing mode for my computer. it seems to be usigÿng computer braille which I only know} a little bit of. I am DeafBlind and rely heavily on my braille display.
Does anyone else experience this issue?
Does anyone else know how to navigate using the braille display?

My problem is that I've been using my braille plage in combination with my iPhone 7 for awhile now, and I could always read the emojis in french. Since a couple weeks the braille plage has been showing the emojis in English, despite the fact that everything else is in french. Voice over says the emojis in french but the braille plage doesn't.

Does someone know how to make it go back to french ?

(A little context: I am deaf so I only know what voice over says because my bf told me)

Hello guys.
İ have a focus 40 blue.
I wanted to pair it with my Mac via bluetooth.
But I cannot remember the bluetooth pin code of my braille display.
I tried 0000, 1111 and 1234 but non of them were true.
Since it is a second hand device; I do not have the box of it.
What should I do to solve this problem?
I wish all of you a nice day and night.

Hello everyone. I was fortunate to receive a focus 40, and I absolutely love it. Once I figured out how to connect it and set everything up on my phone, it was great. The only problem I’m having, is that I can’t get it to automatically repair after I have turned the focus off. I don’t like to leave it on the whole time, but it is looking like I’ll have to. If anyone can help me, I really appreciate it, as when I turn the focus on, it would be great. If somehow it reconnected to the phone. Thank you for any help in advance.

Since I updated to iOS and iPadOS 17 I am unable to detect and pair my Focus 40 4th Gen, is anyone going through this? I also reported this to Apple Accessibility.

Hi all, Using the Applevis channel on Zello, I was able to get some much appreciated help with connecting my focus 40 to my iPhone. I now have it connected and am trying to learn the commands. It stays connected as long as the focus is turned on. When I turn it off after I'm done using it and then turn it on again the next time it is no longer connected. Each time this happens I have to go back into my phone and click on the braille display. Does anyone know why this is or how to fix it? Thanks, Holly

HI,

This started back in iOS 17, but has not been solved. I send the following to Appple over the weekend and received an answer that they are looking into this. If other Focus users see the same please follow up mentioning the case-id so the problem gains more attention and hopefully a sollution.

This problem surfaced first during the iOS 17 cycle, and has unfortunately not being solved until now, where I am on iOS 18.1.1

Hello,
I am thinking of buying a focus 40 blue, 5th generation, but I am not sure how well it works with the Mac. I have found documentation about this display with iOS and windows, but not with macOS.
I seem to have read somewhere that you can't updated the display's software with a Mac, but the person I contacted at VFO apparently didn't know.

So again, I am having issue with my Focus Blue 40 and iPhone and iPad. It is not detected when searching for the device in the braille settings of VoiceOver. My Mac and Windows laptop can detect and connect to the Focus perfectly, so apparently this is an issue with the iOS and iPadOS>
Any idea how I can resolve this?

Hello Everyone.

I am finding the Focus FS 4th Gen Braille Display locks on my iPhone 8+ running v12.1. I have seen the same issue on my older iPhone 6 using version 11 and possibley v12 of iOS. The keyboard is not locked (I can input text).

what occurs, is I am using the braille display. Such as the right rocker switch to move between items in an app. Then the Braille Freezes. The text is the last information on the screen.

When using IPhone, Since updating to IOS 6.0, I've noticed that voice over sometimes has an issue maintaining focus. Specifically, when rotating to heading mode and going through headings, the focus jumps back to the top. This makes it difficult to read what the heading is and as it happens numerous times, it becomes troublesome to swipe through a page and its irritating when trying to read and continually having to find the spot I was previously at. Similarly, It happens when swiping right or left as well when reading a body of text in an app or in Safari.

Hi, I've noticed that the cursor in edit boxes when using a braille display does not jump to the correct place when I want to edit a document. It makes editing take much longer than I would like because I end up deleting and inserting text in the wrong places. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to go about editing properly? Aside from reverting to editing using the touch screen or an external keyboard? Running Ios 16.1.1 on an iphone 12 pro, and have 2 displays I use, the Smart Beetle and the nls display. Thanks.
