I've submitted the following bug report to Apple regarding audio destination in Voiceover when using a Bluetooth speaker that supports keeping speech on your phone. In this case, it's my beloved Bose SoundLink Mini 2 SE. The bug report is as follows:
iOS and iPadOS
Lately, even after getting a new iPhone, VoiceOver will suddenly, and abruptly, adopt the same kind of output heard when you are in a phone call. I could be reading an email, and then, all of a sudden, VoiceOver sounds as if I am on an active phone call, non speakerphone. I am not on an active phone call.
When I play some peace of audio again, or any media, then VoiceOver behaves normally, and stops sounding as if we're on an active phone call.
Hi,
I know the native youtube app can play videos with subtitles,
Voiceover can locate it within the player,
but when voiceover focus is on the subtitle, if the subtitle changed, voiceover did not automatically speak the new subtitle and I have to pause the video and read the subtitle manually and replay the video.
I would like to know any anlternative way that can have voiceover auto read out those subtitle while the video is playing.
Any alternative video player suggested?
Or any alternative ways?
Thanks
I'm sure this is a bug with the new audio ducking but has anyone else noticed that voiceover will raise it's volume when dictating, watching videos, etc. wand doesn't turn itself back down? Has anyone found a work around for this?
Thanks
I have listened to podcasts where Thomas gets his phone with VoiceOver to read the lyrics of the song that is playing. How did you do that? My devices won’t read them to me. I have a Braille display and I can swipe through them, but they don’t automatically read them out. Thanks.
I discovered an interesting Shortcuts automation VoiceOver bug in iOS 18 and 18.1. This has been confirmed by Apple accessibility with an explanation and workaround below.
Create a new automation. Select the trigger, and choose next. I chose to have it run when the phone connects to a specific wi-fi network. So I choose the wi-fi trigger, and on the next screen select the saved network and then choose next.
Hello!
I upgraded my iPhone SE to iOS 13.3 last week. Since I have done that voiceover behaves very unstable on my device. Especcially when I am browsing through web content, both in Safari as well as in other app's web views, Voiceover seems to crash very often and restarts it self automatically (indicated by announcing "Screen Curtain is active" or whatever this is called in english iOS version). :-)
Got a new iPad Pro for Christmas. No home button. How do I enable Voiceover right away, before starting the setup? Thank you!
Since updating to iOS16.0, I've encountered a bug in voiceover that causes it to repeatedly crash and reopen itself if it thinks the phone is using too much ram. Additionally, once Voiceover has crashed and reopened a certain number of times, I lose the voice settings I set up and the phone defaults to a voice I didn't choose as my default voice and I then have to go back into settings and set Voiceover back up the way I want it again, only to have it happen again after it crashes a few more times.
Since upgrading to 16.1 iOS iPhone 13 pro, using VoiceOver reading emails brings up an interesting bug. Interested if anybody else has found this. I have two email accounts on my phone, let’s call them account A and account B. I open account A and come to the first unread email. It reads the subject line and the first part of the message. Unfortunately what it seems to be doing most of the time. It’s read the subject line from account A and then the first part of the message from an email in account B.
I've noticed an accessibility bug in the sonos app for iOS. I'm a bluetooth keyboard user, and every time I try entering a password in the sonos app, whether it's the password to my sonos account or the password to my Internet gateway's wifi, the app won't allow me to use my bluetooth keyboard to enter said passwords. I have to use the on screen keyboard on my iPhone to enter the passwords, even though it should be possible to use the bluetooth keyboard.
Hi all,
I found a little bug with voiceover when trying to read an email and wondered if I was the only one here who experiences this.
Here are the steps to try and reproduce this bug:
Anywhere in iOS, could be a text field or just a page in an app or safari - let's go with a text field to make this easy - type the letters no, make sure they are in lower case. Type any other letter with no spaces between the no you just typed. There should not be any punctuation after this third letter.
So basically you have just typed a 3 letter word starting with NO.
Hi,
So let me explain this really carefully, since it may not make sense.
When I open my notification center it shows everything I want, events, weather, all of that. The problem is with the events part of the notification center.
I go back to the home screen and guess who's hanging out on my screen, the events part of the notification center. It happens if I scroll to the top of my screen and I can't dismiss it. Resetting my device makes it worse by the minute.
Hi!
I’m not sure if this is a bug, but if it is I’m hoping I’m not the only one that’s having this problem.
When I am on Facebook, I went into my profile and I found this very interesting.
Voiceover does not tell me how many friends I have, is this a bug? Or is this a setting that I need to turn on in order for voiceover to do this?
Here are the bugs in ios 11 that I would like to see squashed in ios12, let me know if any of you are having the same bugs. This is an iPhone SE.
-The app switcher still has focus issues, you can close an app you thought you closed because vo said it was that app but it turns out it was the wrong one.
-if you go out of the app switcher and open another app, vo sometimes will still read the contents of the app switcher until you move around on the screen.
-the alex voice will sometimes lose speech and you have to restart vo.
Hi all, I've recently downloaded the latest IOS update, and have found a large number of voiceover bugs. Firstly, when typing in a text message, every few words voiceover takes me back to the top of the screen where it says 3 unread. Secondly, when typing in Safari or Chrome, I can't type with a braille display and can only use dictation, or the keyboard on the phone. Finally, I have noticed that when receiving phone calls, voiceover doesn't really work when trying to find the answer button. Has anyone else noticed these issues?
Hello everyone, I have recently updated to iOS 17.1. I came from iOS 16 and I have noticed several issues in Ios 17. Most notably being the voiceover a bug that I’m about to state. I’m a bilingual user, which means I constantly have to switch between two languages or more. Whenever I switch, there is always a slight delay with voiceover when it comes to pronunciation. Has anyone bilingual like myself noticed this issue? And if you did, do you think it’ll be solved in the next update?
Hi all,
I thought it might be useful to gather together in one place details of any VoiceOver-specific bugs which have been introduced in iOS 4.3.
So, please use this thread to share details of any bugs and workarounds that you are aware of.
Thanks
David
