iOS and iPadOS

This is just basically a rant but I really am annoyed with the fb app, what happens is that everytime I'm scrolling through my newsfeed and I get an fb notification voiceover will refresh the screen and tell me who commented on my post and then it will refresh again after it's done telling me who commented, until I respond to that comment, this means if I'm reading a long post I have to go back and reread it. What is the purpose of this annoying behavior? This started happening several fb app updates back, I can't tell you which one as fb has had many updates.

Hi guys,

So as some of you know, facebook released a new update the other day I'm assooming. Well I usually have my apps set to automatically update but wanted to update them manually because facebook had a new update. I eagerly updated it in hopes that the tagging issue that a lot of us use would be fixed. I went to post a status and I am sad to report that this issue still hasn't been fixed.

Hello,
I follow 9to5Mac on Mastodon & they, along with MacRumors, just posted this article about the naming conventions for Apple's operating systems, starting now & going forward.
What do you think?

I saw on another list that there was a new ios version 10.1.1 but with a different build number that was released today. This update was not an over the air update but can only be updated via ITunes. I opened up ITunes and sure enough what I read was correct. There is also no change log for this version. Anyone know what this is all about?

Yeah, this is a possible bug, but I'm not running the beta, so don't assume I'm posting this in the wrong place, as I'm not.

I'm up to date on iOS 16.0.2. I don't think the active voice would have even the slightest remote possible thing to do with this, but just so others can set up my exact scenareo, I'm using Reed with Eloquence for my voice.

Lately, the need to lighten the load on my bag has become painfully evident... literally, my back and neck hurt from all the stuff I take to school, and somebody proposed to me the prospect of switching out my big, heavy epic gamer laptop for my iPhone 11. Currently, I use Notepad++ on Windows 10 with NVDA and a Focus 40 with computer Braille to take notes for my math course along with a Victor Reader to record the lectures and an Orion TI-84 for crunching numbers. I access Canvas via Firefox to see upcoming assignments, and that's pretty much it.

VibraBraille is an app that lets you explore Braille patterns through touch and vibration. It uses the iPhone’s haptic feedback to represent the dots of each Braille cell, so you can feel it as you move across it.

I wonder if there is an app that can vibrate the quarter half or full hour without sound?

Hi AllDoes anyone know of an iPhone app that will let me tell time Via vibrations or haptics? I'd really like to find a way to tell time when watching TV or in busy or quiet environments when I don't want to disturb others etc. Thank you for any help.

Hi, has anyone else had issues with vibrations since the update to IOS 14? I updated on my iPhone 8 and found vibrations often stopped working even though they were set to on, I then got my new iPhone 12 mini on Friday and this didn't happen... Until today... Turning voiceover off and on again sometimes fixed it on the 8 but only temporarily and this hasn't worked on my 12 mini.

Anyone else experiencing this or got a fix? I haven't seen it listed on any bug reports so far...
thanks

Many of us know that TuneIn is a wonderful and very accessible app where you can hear radio stations all around the world. Is there an accessible app like this but for live streaming video from television stations? I am lookin for an app where I can watch/listen to stations such as RT (Russia Today), CCTV (China Central Television), BBC television stations and television stations in other countries all in one place on one app.

Hi guys,

Has anyone been able to try this new iOS8 feature? I haven't found a video that is optimized for it, even on the Apple website. Might be nice to optimize the video of their last keynote, for example, to showcase how this feature will work. .

I have used Ring and the Ring app for awhile and am not satisfied with the Ring app's accessibility. I find myself in need of a new doorbell and app combination, and am wondering if anyone has found something that works better? The most important things to me are audio quality to talk to visitors, and an accessible enough app that I can activate the Talk function, as well as review the log and share videos. Suggestions welcome.

Hello, all,

I was looking at different Video editing apps for IOS, but have had little luck with IMovie, or the native Clips app.

Does anyone have an idea on an app or way to create and edit videos that is accessible with Voice Over?

I am primarily trying to edit and clip audioe or video to combine videos, or take out un-needed silence that may be within a video.

Thanks for your help!

Derek

Hi, I was wondering, is there a voiceover friendly app that allows you to split videos and trim them to the precise point that you want?

Post Date:

First of all, let me say that I am low vision and can therefore take pictures/video with the right lighting/contrast/zoom conditions.

I am wondering if anyone could recommend an accessible video editing app. I am looking for one that is easy to use and even preferably works at least sort of like Vine, but that is capable of recording much longer segments of video.
