iOS and iPadOS
I came across an app for creating/sharing digital business cards called HiHello. I was able to create a basic card with my contact details and a photo of me but hit a problem when trying to share the card by e-mail. That part seems inaccessible and I got a sighted person to do it for me. I'm wondering whether anyone here would be interested in trying the app and seeing how you get on with it? I'm writing to the developer to encourage them to improve the accessibility and hope that, if others here are interested in the app too and express an interest to them, that would help.
I'm based in the UK and my heating supplier is wanting me to change to Hive Active Heating claiming it's the only accessible program system now available on the market for visually impaired people.. They claim the app is totally accessible for voice-over users but I'd rather get visually impaired comments on how easy it is rather than those of sighted engineeers. So, if anyone has a HIVE timer system for their heating and water, I'd be interested to hear your comments on how easy or not it is to operate.
Many thanks
So I went to edit my heating schedule this morning in the Hive app. It’s summer so I only really need it to heat the water.
Lo and behold I find they’ve broken accessibility again. On the thermostat screen, the control, schedule and actions tabs are now wrapped in a single VoiceOver element. Selecting this appears to take you to the schedule at least, though it does not appear possible to get to the actions tab.
On the schedule tab, it now speaks the time slots, but not what temperature that time slot is set to.
Hi all,
If there are any long time or experienced users of Hokusai II, is there a way, when we're monitoring audio when we're recording on a track, to know if what your recording clips? I'm asking because I saw this function in ferite recording studio, to monitor clipping, and when the audio clips, you get a beep to let you know that this is the case. Can this be done in Hokusai II?
Hello,
I am using voiceover and a Mantis 40 braille display with qwerty keyboard. I have written a block of text which must be emailed to many individuals. I selected and copied the text to the clipboard and was able to paste the text into three email messages. But when I issued the Command V paste command in the fourth email, the text did not appear in the message as expected. I had to return to the pages app, reselect the block of text again, and reissue the copy command.
Hi All,
I was asked today by someone if the Thompson's Holidays app is accessible? If not, are there any other apps that you can use?
I wasn't sure myself, so would anyone be able to help here?
Cheers
Hubert
Is the home app from Apple 100% accessible with voiceover? I can't find the app in the app list.
Even when I have the rotation lock off in the control center, my home screen stays in portrait. Is this normal?
Greetings, I’m a voiceover user but I can see a very little bit. I need to use several HomeKit security cameras. In iOS 13 I was able to flick between the different timestamps to go back and look at detected items and recordings. But I am not able to and iOS 14.
Has anybody else tried to use voiceover with HomeKit secure
Video? I’m having A number of problems in the home app under iOS 14.X that I did not have with 13. Would love to discuss issues with others using the home app.
Hello. Since updating to 13.2.1 on my HomePod, my HomePod doesn’t play my playlists. Despite going into the Home app and looking through all the obvious and relevant settings, it doesn’t seem to play my playlist. The only way I can, is to use my iPhone and ask Seery to put shuffle my playlist on my HomePod. Anyone know if this is a OS update issue, or is there a setting or something that I’m not doing right? Thanks for your help
somebody just sent me a text that included a picture of a poster. My SE 2022 read the whole poster beautifully. Just a few months ago, I wouldn’t have gotten the laugh that this poster created. Thanks, Apple.
A few months ago, someone who had actually downloaded my Gmail reader app ("Reader+ for Gmail") asked if it could use voice commands like Siri to help a blind person (her mother) read email messages. Luckily, iOS 10 which was just released about a month ago added the ability for developers to use Apple's voice recognition technology in their apps.
Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me. I searched for and added the “skip back” and “skip forward” commands to my shortcuts. My desire is to map the 4-finger flick left and 4-finger flick right Voiceover commands to “skip back” and “skip forward” respectively. I also desire to activate “skip back” and “skip forward” via Voice Control in iOS 13 and above. Here’s the rub. Though I succeeded in all of these mappings, I am always shown a confirmation prompt. In simple text form, it consists of the 4 following items. Note that for item 3, it also could say “Run Skip forward”.
Hi. Well, last week when I used my hotspot on my iPhone 4s it worked good. Yesterday I went to use it and my iPod 5 and my BrailleNote Apex which both used to be able to connect do not connect anymore. The hotspot still shows up in the network list as Jessica's iPhone, but when trying to connect to it it is stuck on in progress and I have the correct password. It used to work and I have not changed my phone plan or any of my phone's settings. Also, everything else on the phone still works. I can use the phone and texting and all the apps and everything.
