Hello everyone, I've been a developer in various languages for some years now, web and desktop alike, and got to see quite some IDEs -- Eclipse, Code::Blocks, Visual Studio...The one IDE that always eluded my comprehension was Xcode, and so I found myself using Xamarin framework if I wanted to create iOS compatible apps. I am, however, unwilling to let my Mac just catch dust -- it simply must be possible to get Xcode to work as advertised, no?

Any recommendations for an accessible git client? Or do people mostly use the command line?

I have recently begun testing apps which I do not expect to be accessible and have recently come across a few which could be accessible with a few minor changes. Is there a guide I can send developers when contacting them about this? What have other people found to be useful when trying to help a developer understand a problem which is not as a simple as a button being mislabeled, or not labeled at all? I apologize if this is addressed somewhere else on the website but I haven't been able to find anything. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I've already played a little bit with xcode, but I was wondering if I could make an app that can scan my photo folder, and put all the GPS coordinates in a database/CSV file ?

Does anybody has experience with this ?

Many thanks

The Groups IO service, which is like a google groups alternative that runs popular mailing lists, such as the NVDA mailing list, is developing an app that will interface with the service so users won't have to use the site to manage members or manage their group via email commands.

Until recently, the beta app wasn't accessible. That's changing.

The link below is the Test Flight link. Feedback should be limited to the app development group.

I thought I saw a post here a few days ago about guidelines for developers who want to make sure their apps are accessible using VoiceOver.

I can't seem to find it anywhere now on the AppleVis web site. Is there such a document? If so I would like to pass a pointer to it to some app developers so that they have an idea of what VoiceOver is, how it is used, and how they can make sure it works with their apps.

The only posts I found on this topic in this forum were from several years ago and I assume much has been updated.

Thanks.

In the WWDC state of the union address it was stated that the Xcode beta had voiceover accessibility for interface builder. Was this explained in more detail in another WWDC session or is the only information released from Apple about this the 10 second mention in the state of the union address?

I have created an experimental web application on my website called HearImage, it converts an image in to sound with the idea that blind people can scan an image and (with training) get an idea what is in the image by listening to the sound produced by different regions of the image. It can be tried out at

Touch/click the image and sound is produced generated by the local colour info.

Hello, I just found AppleVis; what an excellent resource! Although I've been in games and game sound for 25 years, I'm a new developer of iOS apps focused on "audio-games"-- videogames where audio is the main gameplay element. I'm happy to see such a great community here. I especially enjoyed the article for app developers on VoiceOver and accessibility in general. In doing our game, I learned about VoiceOver. I had no idea that iOS had such good accessibility integration. It took me only a few minutes to add preliminary accessibilty to our game.

Hi,
I sincerely apologize for the lengthy subject, but I wanted to be 'as detailed as possible.

As the subject says, I'm struggling to get through the 2nd page of "Learn to code 1" in Swift playgrounds.

It's the one where you have to turn left, in order collect the gem.

Has anyone managed to accomplish this level, and could provide some hints?

Hi guys,

I'm nearing the end of development for a text-based adventure/story-driven game. I'm really excited about it and I want to make sure it works great for VoiceOver users.

I've never developed anything with accessibility features in mind, but it occurred to me early on that this is a perfect app to really polish for accessibility. I've been doing my best based on some examples like A Dark Room and other tutorials, but I really need some experienced VoiceOver testers to help me make this a really enjoyable experience before I launch.

Hi app developers and beta testers, I have a possibly unique request that I hope somebody can help me with, one of my friends wants to use the Microsoft David voice as a voiceover voice, so any app developers reading this, please do me a favor, if you can, please create an app that has all the English Microsoft voices, I know it can be done, because espeak is already on the App Store, I would create this app myself, but I do not have an App Store developer account, and I’m not good at coding and developing apps, this needs to be done for two reasons, 1, I am trying to help my friend, 2, the

Hi all. I'm a mostly C/C++ developer with very little Mac dev experience - just command line tools, really. But, over the past few weeks, I've been trying to learn Xcode and Swift. So I thought I'd post my progress here and hopefully some of you more experienced developers could give me some pointers.

I decided I'd take a crack at writing Towers of Hanoi in Swift with output to the console, and here's what I came up with:

We develop apps accessible for children with disabilities. Since the iOS 8 upgrade, we are unable to make VoiceOver works. Is there any developers on this forum that have the same issues?

Hello Applevis,
I hope everyone is doing well.

So I've developed a mud client that i'd like to make accessible. I have a very simple problem at the moment that i'm hoping someone can help with. I have an NSTextField for user input and an NSTextView for server output. What i want is for any new information added to the text view (anything new from the server) to be read, but i don't want to change keyboard focus from the NSTextField.

Hi, we recently soft launched Clammr, an app that some describe as an "audio twitter." It provides a customizable stream of bite-sized audio clips that are max 18 seconds (many people find it helpful for getting a power feed of headlines). We'd love to make Clammr as accessible as possible for the visually-impaired community because we think it can be of significant benefit.

I am new to XCode, and am experiencing an issue where VoiceOver says XCode busy everytime I move between an item or group. After 30 or 45 seconds it will say XCode ready and then speak what I have moved to. It makes it very hard to get anything done. Does anyone know what may be causing this and how I can resolve it? I am using XCode 5.0.2 on the latest Mac Mini running Mavericks. The Mac Mini has 16 GB of RAM, no other apps are running, and I have also experienced this problem with XCode 4 on the same Mac running Mountain Lion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
