In IOS 7, it was possible to have braille display in languages according to your voiceover setting, e.g. VO speaking Spanish, braille displays Spanish. I am in IOS 8.3 now and am only getting the option to display English US, English unified, or English UK. Is this intentional or is this a bug that should be reported? My phone and VO are correctly configured for use of several languages.

Hi, a long time ago, I think their used be an app called Pocket Braille pro. In this app, I could type a letter or punctuation and get the dot positions for that symble. I have forgotten my advanced punctuation so, for example, I would type a @ symble in the search box and the app would tell me the braille dots. Apple unfortunately got rid of that app. It is no longer even in my purchased history. Is there any app that will do the same thing or something similar?

Hello to all,

I am experiencing the following issue after upgrading to iOS 18. The equipment being used is an iPhone 10 and focus Braille display.

1. Begin typing in either notes or messages (I suspect this happens in other editing apps too).
2. You find the Braille display disconnects and you are left at the devices power on screen (in the focus this shows the time set on the display).
3. In order to resume your writing task, it is necessary to lock and unlock the phone to initiate pairing.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Hi all.

So I was looking into braille screen input, and a two-finger swipe right does something with it, switches keyboards? But I feel like the alternative rotor gesture is also two-finger swipe left and right. Is there another gesture alternative for the rotor? Or can you just use the normal alternative even with braille screen input?

The typical twisty gesture is pretty hit or miss for me, so I don't really use the rotor. Yes, I know about split fingers and all. I've tried it, it's less annoying than the normal one, but still not really great for me.

I am using a Focus 14. I want to flick up to select the delete option on my e-mail. Is there a keystroke to do this on the Braille Display?

Hi. I'm starting to find that braille screen input has become increasingly Laghi since the beginning of iOS 18. I'm running an iPhone 16 that iOS 18.4.1 and all apps and firmware are up-to-date. Is it just me? The other thing to note is I do have a screen protector on my phone that is tempered glass. Would this make a difference? I've always had one on and have noticed a difference even so.

I recently purchased an iPhone 15. I have noticed some BSI behaviors on this iPhone 15 that I have not previously experienced on any older models, and I'm curious if anyone else has experienced these and, if so, maybe you can provide some tips or solutions.

What happened to the, so called, Braille touch app, that was rumored to be released months ago. It seemed for once, that we, as a blind community, would have a more than seficient Braille input app for messaging and emailing.

Students and teachers at Georgia Tech University have apparently created an app that will allow users to type Braille with an iOS device facing away from them. Here is a link to the You Tube demo... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIEO1bUFHsI And here is a link to volunteer to be a tester of the software... http://www.cc.gatech.edu/~mromero/brailletouch/ I can't wait!

Greetings from BrailleTouch! I am very excited to announce that BrailleTouch will be available on the App Store on Thu Jan 31 worldwide. We offer a free trial version, which lets you type in braille on your touchscreen and hear the letters or words spoken as you type them. If you like BrailleTouch and find it useful, you can purchase a full upgrade from the app which will allow you to send text messages, tweets, and emails directly from the touchscreen braille keyboard.

I posted comments on her website but no response is forthcoming. Does anyone use the app confidently? Could someone help? Also, does the developer follow the forums on this site? Please do help. Highly appreciated. Thank you. Ketan from Mumbai, India

Dear Friends, I actually thought I loved the app but I am quite confused: I have following questions: 1 Can I select grade of input? How? 2 Can I create more grade II letters/combinations? 3 How do I get letter echo while typing/deleting? 4 Can I edit whthin a letter E.G. I have pressed a wrong number can I do something before pressing “next” button? There may be some more questions but these can get me started. Please do help. With best wishes, Ketan Kothari

Hi, My name is Surabhi and I live in San Francisco, CA. I’m the developer of Braillist - a free braille keyboard for the iPhone. I believe that accessible technology should be accessible to individuals from all economic backgrounds. This is often not the case and for this reason, I'm proud that the community of people using Braillist is steadily growing. Special thanks to all members of the blind and sighted community who have given me constructive feedback over the past weeks and months.

I'm trying to find some apps where I can do some brain training. I know there's Fast Math and Accessible Math, but what else? Any grammar ones? Spelling? Not looking for trivia apps, but will take suggestions for them, because maybe that will change.

Hi,
I have been using Brave a lot recently & really like it. I have it set as my default browser on all my devices.
When trying to delete bookmarks under iOS16.3 with either the current AppStore version or the beta, the app immediately crashes.
I’ve reported this via their forum, Twitter, Mastodon & an AppStore review I left this evening.
Has anyone else seen this?
The current version of Brave is 1.4.7.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

However, there is another app with the same name but from a company called Kengin and seems to offer about the same thing only a little different. Does anyone know if this is a helpfull and accessible app to use? Any feedback would be fantastic.
