Can anyone help. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if this is some kind of bug or bad update...
I'm trying to play a bunch of previously accessible apps however when on them, the only feedback I get from VoiceOver is "Direct touch area", everywhere on the screen. If I rota and enable direct touch, I then get no VO feedback at all.
Since iOS 17, when one takes a screenshot and immediately invokes the dialog to adjust or share it, a large portion of the screen, which I assume is the image part, is now a direct touch area. Unfortunately I can't seem to toggle this with the rotor as usual, and it doesn't appear in the list of direct touch apps. Does anyone know if there is a rationale behind it being a direct touch area, or if it should be filed as a bug?
Just thaught I'd let you all know that in IOS 16.0.2 when using direct touch the focus no longer jumps around. I've tested it with BitLife and it works.
I came across a few mentions of "Direct Touch" on the forum today, which seems to be a feature that will allow touches/gestures to bypass VO. This seems like it could be super useful, however I am not able to find it anywhere in my settings. How can I activate it? I am running an iPhone 8 on 14.1, if that helps.
I was playing the Nebula arcade game, and I was on the screen that had a new game and menu level buttons. I played with the rotor for some reason and came across a rotor item which says "direct touch". I flicked down and got the choices "on" and "off". This was not in a text field. It doesn't look like the typing style rotor item, so I'm wondering what it is. I've tried looking in the manual and another reference book, but only direct touch typing is mentioned. Any ideas?
So direct touch typing works everywhere else. But when on a phone call, the dial pad reverts to standard touch typing. Apple engineers have actually confirmed that this is incorrect behavior. But nothing has been done to fix it.
I am looking for guidance on navigating books on the kindle iPhone app.
I have not used the kindle app on my iPhone for at least 3 years. Back then I do not remember having any access issues with the kindle app.
I just downloaded a book today. When I opened the book all I got was a message that said “image”. I tapped on the screen and I got options like copy, notes, ets. The only way I could get out of that screen was to go line by line to the bottom of the section.
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any directory assistance applications for the IPhone? I would cut the cord with my local land line carrier, but I like the use of directory assistance with this land line. If I could find an application out there, I might be able to get rid of this expense all together! Any information anyone could share would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. -Andrew-
Hello Applevis comunity,
I need your help, Directv’s iPhone app is not accessible to Voiceover users, and Directv has not been willing to listen to my concerns.
Here is the emails that have been exchanged, and my call to action.
Thank you.
I received a call in response to my email from DIRECTV’s office of the president this afternoon (Sunday).
The woman explained to me that she “had someone in her office test the app with Voiceover” and that it worked just fine.
you know how in iOS, App icons have badges, where they will say things like 10 items, 11 items, etc.? I know that if I go under notification and control center settings, I can disable badges on an app per app basis, but is it possible to globally disable badges a crossed all installed apps? I don't want to disable push notifications altogether, I simply just don't want any of my apps to show a badge count. I am an extremely advanced iOS user, and I don't recall seeing the setting anywhere.
Warning: I'm a complete technophobe and am probably asking seriously dumb questions and am probably posting in completely the wrong forum!!
My son has managed to damage his iPod 5 by sitting on it and the Home button is now not working properly. He's managed to use an 'onscreen' home button, but the original button often thinks it's being held down permanently, so voice control keeps activating.
I've looked for tips to disable and am told to go on General>Turn passcode on>voice control, but there's no voice control button.
I was browsing my facebook and text messages recently and realized that most of my friends were sending me messages with lots of emoticons attached to it.
Now although i know, emoticons and punctuations are a good way of expressing oneself,i was wondering if there was a way to disable voiceover from reading emoticons and punctuations;so i would be able to read just the text instead.
Was just wondering if this was possible.
If it were possible? How could i do it?
Thanks
Arvind
HelloI know that eventually I will have to upgrade from my iphone 6 s. One thing I really like about touch id is the ability to quickly authenticate with apps without having to enter my pass words. If I disable attention mode, will I still be able to use face id to quickly authenticate into apps?
I am wondering if there is a way to temporarily disable the headset mike, using the phone's microphone instead. I find that in certain apps, like recording apps, I prefer using the phone's mike, because it sounds a bit better to me. Also, I use a hearing aid app, and that doesn't work very well with the headset mike, but if I could set it to use the phone's mike I could poart it at certain sound sources instead of being the main one myself.
Hi all. This happens with the mail app or on the Mac. I have certain addresses in gmail, that somehow don't show up. Such as groupon goods and the old entombed game. I hear the chime, if I'm lucky I'll catch what it says. If not, the message is gone. No notification, no message, I can't figure it out. I've searched the gmail app itself, nothing. If anyone has experienced this or can help, please because it's making me crazy. Oh, I wasn't already? ;)
Hello all.
I have recently migrated from an iPhone SE original to an iPhone 13 mini and I'm encountering an annoyance with the safari toolbar.
I prefer the address bar to be at the top of the screen so I have changed Safari's settings to single tab mode. It seems that with this setup Safari's toolbar disappears on many web pages. I can make it reappear by double tapping the status bar at the top of the screen.
Is there any way to prevent the toolbar from disappearing?
Thanks for any help.
There is a bug that Apple hasn't been able to fix. Ever since the first iOS 13.0 release, Siri (male or female) will work with VoiceOver and Spoken Content services for a while but eventually crashes. Once Siri's voice crashes, Spoken Content features stop working; VoiceOver at least has the decency to fallback to Samantha. Siri voices will then appear on the list as if they aren't downloaded. Sometimes you can even redownload them and have the working again for a little bit, but they'll eventually crash and stop working again.
