My last app is available for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac. It is the Speaker assistant. A tool to help you when you are presenting something or when you are in a speech.
Hi guys, i am legally blind and do a podcast to raise awareness about our community.
This started happening 2 weeks ago or so.
2 things are happening that are related:
1.
This is kind of a follow-up to my post earlier about direct touch and VoiceOver not speaking words.
I'm noticing now that if autocorrect has to jump in, then it's not speaking the words and it's just saying space. If I get the letters exactly right, then it'll read the word correctly, which makes me wonder if there's a new setting somewhere I'm missing to make sure VoiceOver will speak autocorrections out loud.
Note: It is not under spoken content; I've already tried this.
We have created an app for listening to email called Speaking Email. We think this would be useful for blind users.
I would be grateful for any feedback on what changes we might need to make so it works better for blind people. It is a paid app so if you would like a free copy you are welcome to email me for a promo code on [email protected]
For iOS, iPad, and for any Mac, Apple TV, and Homepod users, what accessibility changes do you want to see in the next update? I'm going to send this post to Apple's accessibility division.
Alright, so maybe I am getting old, but I recall in iOS 10, and I was pretty sure in iOS 11 too, but when the onscreen keyboard pops up, if you perform a long press on a letter, or even on an emogy, you typically get access to special characters. For example, for French users, if you wanted to type in a "É" or "à ", you would simply long press on the "e" or "a" and a list of special characters would pop up. I also believe that this was the same action to access alternative versions of an emogy.
If anyone out there's a Spectrum subscriber, we have a Disney plus basic subscription offered at no cost. However here's where things get interesting and inaccessible. I started on the mac. I then did the same steps written below on the phone which was where the get disney plus button was visible. After clicking the activate link, I'm taken to the disney plus website. After the email is entered, the only button shown by Voice over is log in. Of course, how do you when you can't create the account? so after cooling off the Irish rage, I went on the phone.
Does anyone else stream content from spectrum tv? because out of nowhere, using the latest version, it suddenly reads out what I think are either closed captions or subtitles Either way it's completely makingme crazy. I don't have closed captions on andI can turn speech off but I shouldn't have too. Has anyone else has this weird behavior? I checked and the last update was maybe a week back or so.
Hello everyone, overnight my Speech Central app updated to the latest version. Now it runs much slower, consumes a lot more battery, and I've noticed that the device heats up significantly during app usage. I have an iPhone 14 with the latest iOS system update. Additionally, since I use eSpeak NG as the text-to-speech synthesis, the app reads text with an English accent (my native language is Serbian), even though in the VoiceOver settings, I have configured it not to change the accent when reading another language.
Hello, I configured Speech central to use the API key for Microsoft Azure voices. What happens if I import a Word document which has several language tags correctly inserted? Will the voice - particularly multilingual voices - respect language tags or will it recognize the language by itself ignoring the tags?
Being nominated as the best accessible iOS app in 2017 by AppleVis is a great honor, but also brings a great responsibility to further improve the app and be even better in 2018.
Hi
How can I back up my entire Speech Central library? I have a large book library and want to make sure I will not lose any of the content.
Thanks for any advice.
I recently downloaded Speech Central to give it a try. As a VoiceOver user, I thought we had access to all features? I've noticed on the extras tab there is a button labelled Log In To Websites and it is dimmed. What does this button do, and how are additional features accessed?
Speech Central has added several notable new features in the latest version that is available on iOS 11.
1. PDF support - with the support of PDF format all major text/e-book file formats are supported now, and the number of supported formats now raises to 11. The PDF support includes the support for password protected files. Also the text is imported in a smart way so that repeating text in the header or footer of the page is skipped.
2. Comments tool - now you can attach a comment to the paragraph to annotate the text.
