iOS and iPadOS
I have an iPhone 6 Plus with IOS 9.3, the latest update. When using VoiceOver through a bluetooth earphone, the sound reverts to the iPhone speaker when I launch the Google search or Google maps apps. This behavior is not new to the latest IOS update, it's been happening to me for some time. Am I missing some setting for the Google apps? Is there a procedure to follow to allow me to continue to hear VO over my bluetooth earphone when I launch these Google apps?
Thanks.
Is anyone else having problems with Google search? Since yesterday voice over says search box is "combo box" and editing is impossible. Same on ipad ios7, ipad ios6, iphone5 ios7.
Thanks
Geoff
Since updating from IOS 13 to IOS 14.5 I have noticed that google search results don't seem to be marked with h3 tags. The first one in a group will be marked with a heading, but subsequent results show up as links. Tried reporting this to google but they sent me to apple. Any one know of a fix for this? Not being able to scroll through search results efficiently is a pretty big inconvenience.
Hello all, just wondering if anyone’s having this problem. I am currently running the latest software update and I have the iPhone XR. When I go to do a Google search, the word appears in the box but it is not telling me that the word is appearing in the box. This is when using voice over. For example, if I type in the word girl, it is not telling me that this word is appearing in the box. I hope this makes sense. If anyone else is having this problem please let me know.
I've been playing around with the Google Sheets iOS app, and I'm actually pretty impressed with its compatability with VoiceOver. If only the desktop version worked this smoothly ... anyway, I was wondering if anyone would happen to know whether it's possible to manually highlight two or more cells at a time. So far I've only been able to work with multiple cells by selecting an entire row or column, but is there a way I could, for example, highlight cells a3 through a5?
Is there a guide out there to accomplish editing a google slides presentation using VoiceOver? Students in our state are being asked to do this.
Thank you.
Good evening
I'm having a problem with the Google Translate app on my iPhone 8+: When I write text in the text area, I can't create a new line. The on screen keyboard does not have a "return" option to double tap. When I press Enter on a bluetooth keyboard, the text I just composed is read. Double tap to edit it doesn't work either.
Hello,
I currently have the non-Pro model of the iPhone 12 with the latest iOS version installed.
I’ve heard that the Pro models offer more accurate navigation. Is that true?
Are there significant differences between the Pro and non-Pro models, particularly in terms of GPS accuracy?
If I were to purchase a Pro model, would it be capable of determining my location with sub-one-meter precision?
Please help me to decide.
Thanks, everyone
Hi all. I work with a lot of blind young people in my job, and recently I have been asked this a few times. What GPS apps do people use? Personally I like the built in Apple maps. I like that I can just see a list of the directions on a route, but for me the big thing that it is missing is information such as, it will say in 100 yards turn left, but it won't say if this is the first left, or the second or third etc.
Hi,
I am looking for an accessible GPS that will work with my iPhone 3GS while I'm out walking. I have an older Humanware "Trekker" unit, but you have to use the little satallite device along with a speaker & the PDA so it's a bit cumbersome. Also since the device is older, it doesn't always work as well as I would like it to when walking.
I've looked at Navigon, but it's expensive and some of the reviews i've encountered say it's a memory hog, isn't always accurate & more for driving than walking.
Hi,
I am looking for a navigation app that would let me enter an address for a destination and obtain directions. After it gives me the route, I would like to be able to search points of interests along my route and then select one point as an intermediate destination. Hardware GPS products like Garmin have this functionality but these products are not accessible. Is there any accessible iOS app that have this feature?
Thanks
Charlie
Hi!
I am looking for a GPS app that is accessible for the blind, and it doesn’t have to be free.
How is Google maps? Is it good in terms of giving turn by turn directions?, Does it have any voice guidance feature? How is blind square? Is that app good? Looking forward to get suggestions recommendations, and reviews of the apps that I’ve mentioned.
Stay safe and healthy!
Hi all,
As many of you are aware, I have been working with a focus group on developing apps targetied to Low Vision and Blind folks. During the discussion group we found a very strong desire is to have a GPS based navigation app created that would be accessible and fill in some specific needs for the blind.
I usually use BlindSquare for GPS on my iPhone 5S. My only complaint is that it constantly tells me my location while walking, like every 2-3 seconds. All I want it to automatically tell me is the next crossing and any POIs nearby. When I turn off announcements, then it doesn't tell me anything.
Is there a way to make BlindSquare only say what I want? Or is there another app that will, automatically? I don't want to be always messing around with an app, when I'm walking around.
Thanks.
