iOS and iPadOS

Hello, I hope that this message finds you all well. I just have a quick question about the accessibility of the Kindle reader on the I pad. I have been using this app for books for a while now, but I want to access my books in a more accessible format. I need to be able to move by paragraph and access the page number as well. I already check on the online Kindle cloud where I should be able to read my books, but I can't figure out how to move from page to page. I have never been able to move by paragraph or access the page numbers in the Kindle app.

is it possible to see the time left in a chapter or in the book? I saw something like this for sited people?
I am using the kindle app on my iPhone but I do not know how to get this information accessible with voiceover?

With kind regards, Mslion

Hi everyone,

I've been experiencing a strange issue with the Kindle app while reading in braille and I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this. While reading and getting close to the end of a page, the display will jump back up to the start of the same page instead of flipping to the next one. Has anyone had this happen? If so, any fixes?

Kindle books on my iPad Air lack the contrast I get with iBooks. In fact with a black background there is no text visible. I haven't found a contrast adjustment in the app's setting and increasing the native brightness of the iPad has no effect. Is this a common problem? Am I missing something?

Hello, I have been using the Kindle app for iOS for several years. Mostly, I read self-help or fitness books on it, and for the most part, find it fairly accessible and usable. However, I ran into a snag when I bought a Bible study e-book. That’s when I discovered that the Kindle app apparently has no back button. Has anyone figured out a workaround to the lack of a back button in this app? This problem manifest when I click on a link from one part of the book to another, and then want to return to the place I clicked from.

Hi Everyone,

I woke up yesterday to discover that my Kindle App is being strange when Reading a Book Using VoiceOver.

Before Yesterday Morning, I was able to happily read my Books one whole page at a time. Since Yesterday Morning However, VoiceOver is only Reading A Paragraph at A Time, and then I have to Swipe to the Next Paragraph, Which, as I am sure that You Can All Imagine, is rather Annoying to say the least.

Hi all,

I am looking for any podcast for guidance using the Kindle app on IOS for a friend. I recently suggested a friend to use the Kindle app on both his IOS as well as on his Mac & Windows laptop. While he quite liked my idea for the same, he wants to know if there are any podcasts for using this app with VO & more. I was looking for it on the Applevis podcasts page but could not find anything for it. Please point me to a podcast either on Apple vis or outside for the same.

Even I could have created a demo for it all myself but I no longer use an Iphone.

AppleVis family I need your help!! Amazon released a new update to the Kindle iOS app Oct. 24th. It is again not accessible. The labels are marked . However, books are still not accessible. I wrote Jeff Bezos a letter telling him I will no longer support Amazon. I am not asking you to boycott them. I am however asking my AppleVis family to post their frustrations on this thread. I would like to send it to Amazon. Will you please take a moment to post. This could benefit us all. Thank you for your time.

Hi all. I’ve been using and loving the Kindle app since 2013 and haven’t encountered any major issues, until now. Since updating the app earlier this week, (version 6.9), I’ve had a lot of trouble reading books with VoiceOver. The reading experience isn’t nearly as smooth as it’d been previously, with choppy speech and weird breaks between words and sentences. I thought this might be a font or formatting issue, but I fooled around with the display settings and tried several different books and keep getting the same results. I’m running the latest version of iOS on an iPhone SE.

Hey,

Not sure if this is really the right forum, but it's happening on my iPHone too so...

Alexa has something called assistive reader which reads out kindle books on alexa devices as well as apps, such as audible or the amazon alexa app. It's great for reading books that don't have a audio book version... Wehn it works.

I'm currently trying to listen to a book but it seems to be stopping after one page without continuing. I've turn the option off and on in the alexa app > more > settings > accessibility, but the issue remains.

I'm reading a book on Kindle for iOS that contains numbers in the text that are links to specific points in the References section of the book. When I activate a link, which Kindle calls footnotes, there's no problem. It's getting back to where I was that gives me trouble. There's no toolbar or anything else on the screen that Voiceover can detect for me to use to return to my place in the main text.

I purchased a Kindle book called the musical magic by Richard and Robert Sherman. It is a picture book with text as well. But, I don't see any way to back out of this book and get back to the list of library books I have purchased from Kindle. the back button is dimmed. I'm guessing its a problem with the inaccessibility of this book. I'm using the latest Kindle version with iOS 10 and an iPhone 6s. Does anyone have suggestions? I can wait for a sighted person to visit and then have him get me out of it but, I'd rather do it my self. Thanks!

hi to all, is it just me, or is reading with kindle these days, using voiceover a less than intuitive experience? For example when i read using voiceover, words>e space out for example es pecially when i am enjoying a novel, and "not in part icular words are read, with spacing between the 2 halves of a word so reading be comes dis jointed. as you can see from that above paragraph, although i exagurated a little, the reading sounds choppy and difficult to comprehend. also, sometimes, at the end of pages, it is like the words are hyphenated, when really they are not.

Hi all! I have an iPod touch 4Th generation and have the kindle app loaded. When I start continuous reading it does fine for a few pages then it skips a page ;and I have to manually go back to the page it skipped. Is anybody else having this problem?. And is there any way to turn off that irritating little page turn noise? I've looked for answers to these two questions but have not found anything. Thanks, Jim

I just downloaded the update to the Kindle IPhone app. It claimed to have accessibility improvements. I had the "believe it when I see it" attitude, but I'm amazed to report that not only can I see my books in the library, I can read them!!!!! I think Christmas has just come in May!

Hello Everyone, Today I tried out a new church and they had a women's Bible Study Group. I do have questions about youversion reading plans on the bible app, but I'll get to that in another topic. One of the things the women are doing this month is purchasing a book to read as a devotional. They said the book was on amazon, and it was also on IBooks. I searched for it on IBooks and found it with ease, so I lean more towards the IBooks app, partly because I have been using it for months now. I just wanted to gather some oppinions.

I just bought the KNFB Reader a couple of days ago. I would be in love with it, even using it on my pitiful iPod Touch 5g it gives very good results. If not for the fact that when I use the Field of View report it crashes the app about 75 percent of the time, I'd be on OCR cloud nine right now. I'm totally blind, and that feature is a requirement for me.

I first blamed myself and/or my poor little iPod Touch 5G, but ti does the same on an iPhone 5C, and on an iPad Mini 2.

does in app perchases for knfb reader mean that family sharing will be gone? and why in app perchase does not apply to family sharing?

I just got a new phone yesterday and am in the process of setting it up. I went to use KNFB Reader to do a scan of an envelope I got in the mail. I had to resort to Prismo. I wonder if KNFB Reader is usable with IOS13? I updated the phone to 13.3 yesterday as well.

Thanks for any help
