Forgive me if this has already been mentioned but I thought it might be of interest to the group. Before posting I quickly skimmed the list of topics and didn’t see this specifically called out. I’m not a beta tester for iOS 14 but I did come across this article about photo captions. Sounds like we will finally have the ability to add our own text to photos. One thing that has perpetually frustrated me about iOS is that you can’t name your image files like you can on a Windows PC. This will be one step closer to that, at least.

Is there any app or service for accurate photo description?
I use both Seeing Ai, Taptapsee, Envision and the native description options on Instagram and Facebook but none of them fully satisfy me.
In Italy we used to have an app, called Bespecular, whereby you would upload the pic you want to have described and a sighted volunteer would send you back an audio or written description.
Unfortunately, the app has been discontinued and no longer works.

hi all, i just got my iphone xr on friday and I have selected the option to navigate images with description, and I do a three finger single tap and the photo won't tell me what it is, it just says rows one to ten of ten or something like that. so what am i doing wrong, has apple changed the jesture?

Some of you might recall that back in september I presented a short paper to a Unesco conference on AI. As the blurring out of faces was a hot topic at the time, I decided I would talk about reconciling facial recognition with law about private information. It was all jolly good fun and looked splendid on Bingo's scholarship CV. A number of you said you'd be interested in the paper and I'm sorry I haven't shared it with you individually.

With the recent release of Microsoft Pix, I have been dabbling with photography on my iPhone 6 again. The Pix app seems to be fairly accessible. I wish I could say that for the iOS Photo Gallery.
When i open the gallery, I see listings by date. I don't seem to be able to find any actual photos. I took two tonight, and I hear an entry for them, but I can't seem to access them to share or delete them.
I can get to a listing that has sections for different types of photos and videos, but again, I can't seem to actually do anything.

Hi: I have a question on how to label photos. I have an IPhone 4S and I am trying to label photos in my camera app. I know how to label the photo; do a 2-finger double tap and then type the name in when I get the edit box. That part is fine. My problem is when I go back in to the camer-roll none of my photos have the label I gave them. When I do tap on a photo and it comes up the name that appears is not what I named it. The label that shows up is the last one I typed in. Does anyone have any tips or tricks when it comes to using the labeling feature? Thanks for all of your help.

Hello. This is my first post. I was just wondering where I can get something that I can put my phone on top of and it'll help me be able to read a document with Seeing AI or Be My AI without having to hold my phone. For example, a while back, I had this scanning box that had a square cut out on the top of it, and I put a document in it, and I put my phone's camera right in the square cut out, and it was able to read the document perfectly. I was just wondering if there was a way to find one of them again.

I work as a health coach.
As part of my job, I’m supposed to post something every day on Facebook.
There’s a group I am a part of, that has albums, and in those albums, are ideas of what to post.
I believe most if not all of the pictures have text associated with them, however, voiceover will not read send text, until I actually save the picture to my phone.
Is there a way I can read the text, before I decide to save the picture?

A bit of an unusual one. I have photos on my iPhone, iPad and iPhoto on Mac all synced up. According to iPhoto there are 823 total photos, and the Photos app on the iPhone and iPad say the same. However, on the iPhone, when I go to Settings>General>About, it says I have 1024 photos. I can't figure out what or where these extra 201 photos are! Any thoughts?

There's breatheing, intanation, fluidness, if it wasn't on an app and was tweeked a little bit, I'd swear it was a human.
What do you think, do you use Pi AI?

Hi, all. When I choose a dropdown in Safari, the form activates at the bottom of the screen, but Voiceover doesn't access a picker. Is anyone else experiencing this? For instance, I started to post this message, and realized I couldn't use the popup to pick the forum for it to go to, so I started over by choosing the link for the app discussion forum, and the forum selection was populated. Thanks.

Is there a way to pick a document or language specific speech rate in voice dream for text documents? When I adjust it it adjusts for all documents. I read faster in English than I do in Japanese.

Since ios 14, I know I also received the picture-in-picture feature. Does anyone know how to use VoiceOver? Example I want to watch a video on YouTube, and be able to chat on WhatsApp. Thanks!

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience using picture-in-picture on an iPad or iPad mini? I was hoping that I would be able to watch a video while working in other apps. However, this doesn't seem possible. If I bring up a video on the web, then switch to another app, I lose the sound of the video. I'm not sure if the picture is there or not because I am totally blind. Does picture-in-picture only show the video and not the sound? If this is the case, it is very disappointing. I hope I am just doing something wrong. Any responses would be appreciated.

We made a camera app, pikSpeak Camera, that allows users to take photos with audio tags.
Luckily, the app came across a visually impaired gentleman, Markus. He said that it was a great app for him as he liked taking photos but it was difficult for him to browse older photos as iOS tagged the photos by Date and time of the image captured which can be difficult to remember. But using pikSpeak Camera, he can easily navigate through the pics as a user can audio tag pics all by himself. Now, it helps him to share his pics as well as photos with sound using pikSpeak Camera :-)

A small pilot study is being conducted to determine if iDevices can assist blind and visually impaired users to become self-sufficient in the area of fashion. The study utilizes the iPhone application VizWiz where you can receive answers to visual questions by taking a photo, recording a question, and sending it to a bank of volunteers or Web workers. This project will utilize the same application but participants will use it just for clothing and fashion related questions.

People here have been complaining about the lack of so-called neural voices and updates to RHVoice. Don't remember who made the add-on and posted about it here, but I greatly appreciate his/her efforts and would like to ask him/her whether (s)he would be willing to (help) make the voices available on iOS.
