Hey friends! I'm an audio engineer and I record 3D Soundscapes in my travels around the world (I travel a lot for work). I feature the soundscapes on my app called Travelear. It's free on the App Store.
I record cities, forests, music festivals and more with a special 3D binaural microphone. To get the full experience make sure you use your headphones when listening.
ViA by Braille Institute is an app that can help you find apps for people with disabilities. in the accessibility category The says apps compatible with VoiceOver. I highly recommend this app its a great way to find great apps. That work with voiceover
Apple just approved VOCalc, a Voice Over accessible calculator I've built.
From the blurb
VOCalc brings you a basic calculator which you can use without reading glasses.
The user interface is designed with readability for low vision users in mind. For this, high contrast and big clear fonts are used.
VOCalc is optimized for use with VoiceOver.
Calculator features:
Expression entry is done with formula visible, like 2x(5-4). This way you always now where the result comes from and can verify the input.
Access to past calculations is only one button away as history is saved as you go.
UPDATE: For the next 24 hours, I have made Voice $1.99. After that, it will return to its original price of $4.99. For those who have already purchased, all updates are free. Tell everyone to download this so they can get it at the sale price!
This is Shalin Shah — the creator of Voice. For those of you who don't know me, I’m a senior studying computer science at the University of California, Berkeley. Voice has been a project of mine since I was in high school, and I’ve been working hard to make it better over the last 6 years.
Another month, another app; Apple approved my VOTimer today.
VOTimer is a simple countdown timer.
My design goals for this release were to make a timer that
1. is fast and intuitive to use
2. is usable without touching, in the kitchen your hands are often dirty.
3. is accessible with VoiceOver and providing a low vision friendly UI.
4. will continue to run if I have to exit the app to check something else.
5. has a variety of alarm sounds.
To achieve the above, I fitted a big numeric keypad that you can use to enter the time.
Hello,
My name is Bret. I'm the creator of WebOutLoud, a text-to-speech app for websites. I've heard from several of my customers that it is great for low-vision individuals so, having happened upon this forum, I thought I would bring it to your attention.
The app is ad-free for seven days at which point you can choose to purchase for $10 a year or continue using the app indefinitely with advertisements.
I would be interested in hearing what you think of it.
I would like to inform visually impaired readers of an app I initially wrote just to help me and members of our local club (called Helping Hands for the blind) find out where you were around our town but because there was such keen interest I decided to make it more user-friendly, work anywhere in the world and published it on iTunes.
My friend and I recently built a notification app that was inspired by the needs of the visually impaired. It turned out to be a pretty entertaining way to communicate with close friends.
We added a list of humorous sound bites from popular movie and TV moments that users can choose from and send as text and audio notifications with a single touch of a button.
Here are some of the sound clips you can send with just one tap:
I’m Akash, a member of the CrowdViz Team. CrowdViz is an IOS app for blind and vision impaired people that just released from the Apple app store this Monday (Labor Day). I wanted to make this forum post in the hopes that we can have an open discussion about CrowdViz, so that you can understand what our service is truly about. Here is a quick exciting blurb about CrowdViz below:
Hello everyone,
I am in the Uk. Have just bought an iPhone 5 but at the moment feel totally baffled by it. I have turned on voice over but I must be doing something wrong, because whatever I seem to do the fone doesn't do what I want. Maybe I am not doing the correct finger gestures. I understand that siri must have to be set up but I can not set it up on my own.
If someone could give me some help, I would be very grateful.
Best regards,
Lovable rogue
I wanted to announce a new version of Intuit's GoPayment app that includes a visual redesign. We all know that when an app changes, there will be a learning curve to the new interface. This note is to let you know in advance what to look out for.
First off, I want to thank Michael Hingson and Rob Slaughterbeck, who gave me some early feedback on the beta version of the app. Mike's feedback helped us fix a couple major bugs before the official release.
I got my first I phone just before Christmas (I phone 4s) and think its a brilliant device for blind users. The only problem I have is choosing an intuative GPS navigation AP, which works well in the UK and is accessible. I want something that will provide full navigation when walking (road names, house numbers etc) but it is very difficult to pick one, especially when the two in the Apple Vis directory either don't appear to be very accessible and are very expensive. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I've been having this problem for a while now but just getting around to posting about it. I'm still on the latest version of ios14, I can't remember when this started but I think it was in one of the 14 builds perhaps as far back is when 14 was installed. What is happening when I'm using apple pay it gives me an invalid address error and will not go through, however and this is the odd thing if I back out of the apple payment screen and try again it will allow me to proceed with my payment as normal.
Hello friends,
Voice Dream Reader application has announced that, as of May 1, it will switch to a subscription system for people who have previously purchased for a lifetime.
This is a clear example of exploitation and injustice.
To express our reaction on this issue, we are all deducting stars from the app store page!
You can support us by making comments about reversing this unfair practice and this unlawful decision and by giving 1 star to the application.
Hi. I don't usually get a lot of responses when I post something in the forums, but I hope to get some responses here. I updated Hanging With friends to the latest version yesterday, and the game itself is very much still usable and quite fun. The problems start in the area of the game where you invite friends from Facebook. In the earlier versions, you would hear hanging with, followed by your facebook friend's name. However, in this latest version, Zynga has done something that prevents you from hearing your facebook friend's name.
I have tried out nicegram, bright guide, and the telegram app itself. All of that said, I cannot figure out how to invite people to the service. Any suggestions?
