Hello Maria and welcome to AppleVis.
Can we assume that because you have posted information about this app here that it has full support for VoiceOver? If so, it would be useful to state this in your original post.
If the app is currently not fully accessible with VoiceOver, do you have a timeframe for when this will be corrected?
The AppleVis Editorial Team
Hi, This app doesn't seem to be in the US App Store. I searched for it using the spelling in the main post and couldn't find it.
It will hit the apple store on Thur. If you check out the site it tells you what school will Launch first and the schools that are being worked on. If you are at a College and would like this app for your school, please let me know and we will work on it.
Thank you for reaching out to me. There is no typing in the Application, I hope that helps. If you have any other questions please let me know.
Based upon your reply to our question about whether the app supported VoiceOver, it seems safe to assume that you are unaware of what VoiceOver is and why it matters so much to the users of this website.
The short explanation is that VoiceOver is a gesture-based screen reader that’s baked right in to iOS and which makes iOS and apps usable for those of us who can’t see what’s on the screen.
This Apple support page provides more information about VoiceOver and the other accessibility features which are available in iOS: http://www.apple.com/accessibility/ios/
From that page:
VoiceOver is a revolutionary screen reader that lets you know what’s happening on your Multi-Touch screen — and helps you navigate it — even if you can’t see it. Touch the screen to hear what’s under your finger, then use gestures to control your device. VoiceOver works with the apps that come with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
To experience this in action, simply press the Home button on an iOS device 3 times in quick succession (this assumes that the accessibility settings are still set to their default on the device).
This will give you an opportunity to see how well you app currently works with VoiceOver.
This page offers some good tips and advice on how to test the accessibility of your app: https://patstapestry.wordpress.com/2013/05/24/tips-for-accessibility-testing-of-ios-apps/
And this Apple Developer page provides information on how to develop accessible apps: https://developer.apple.com/accessibility/ios/
The good news is that even though you may not be familiar with VoiceOver, it’s possible that if your developers have followed some basic good practice and Apple’s guidelines, that your app may already work well with VoiceOver.
If there are any specific questions that you or your developers have about ensuring that your app does offer fair and equal access to all of its possible users, then do please ask, as we will have lots of people in our community who could make use of your app.
Thank you for your response could you please contact me to discuss this voiceover with me so I can full understand it. Thank you
