New version out today with some interesting features.
1. Improvements to weather gods sounds with some new sound effects and a more appropriate set of sounds depending on time of day etc
2. The ability to "follow" and be notified about tropical storms as they form and become active in a particular storm basin e.g. all storms for the Atlantic, Eastern Pacific etc. This means you no longer need to start following a particular storm, instead you can be notified as soon as a new storm starts.
On the main weather gods screen where it shows the weather conditions for my city plus the next few days, as I'm swiping down I see something that sounds like it should be the word altitude but voiceover mispronounces it. Anyway the number that's given for this changes quite often so I'm wondering what this is?
I just wanted to say that we are having some severe problems with our data service provider, IBM. We switched account types today and clearly something has gone badly wrong - we have been planning this since December and IBM assured us that there would be no impact to service!!
Unfortunately, it seems to be one of those problems where everything is flagged green but the service just isn't working as expected. We have a severity 1 issue raised with them and it is being escalated through other channels now.
Since this morning, July 27th, I have been receiving duplicate notifications again. Not really a problem. Better too many notifications about approaching thunderstorms than too few.
I've had a few people email me for help setting up the WG Lock Screen widgets so I thought I would share what works for me - there might be other VO shortcuts I don't know about.
We are in the process of re-working the Weather Gods sounds, adding more etc etc. We also hope to have a separate high quality downloadable set as well (from the App Store).
We are looking for help with the night time sounds. In particular any ideas that might indicate a night sound ... for example we've thought about the occasional hoot from an owl and we already have our starry wind chimes.
Hello
On my iPhone 8+ running IOS 13.2.3 I recently purchased and installed Weather Gods. Great app. Only 1 issue. I set daily summery notification to arrives daily at 6 AM. When the summery notification arrives though, I only hear VoiceOver replies: "Screen kertain off. Screen Kertain on." Swiping left and right does not solve the issue. Please assist if possible?
Sorry to report that we seem to be back with gremlins in our notification system. I have finished checking our side and am now convinced the problem is with IBM. The problem manifests itself with duplicates.
I have raised a severity 2 ticket but unfortunately these things take time to track down and fix.
Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
Hello everyone,
for a few days the Weather Gods app, updated to version 3.5.1, has stopped sending me notifications. Entering the app it tells me "7 notifications paused", but when I try to activate them from Settings> Notifications> Pause all notifications the switch is dimmed and the sentence below says "Notifications are paused. Premium upgrade required". I bought the app 4 years ago, so I think I have the premium version as always. I have already tried to restore the purchase, but without success. Is it a bug? Or what can be done? Thank you.
Just a note to say we have been having some problems with push notifications recently and I'm hoping they are now fixed.
The main cause was due to some timing issues between the database and the IBM push notification engine. These were sporadic, intermittent and difficult to track down.
Just wanted to share some information about Weather Gods and the notifications.
The good news is we've been working hard to move our notification system into the cloud and we have just recently started beta testing the new system,
So far, so good, and fingers crossed we will have an update on the App Store in a couple of weeks.
This means that you will no longer have to remember to keep Weather Gods in the app switcher :) It should also means a small saving in battery usage as well.
Just a quick note to say we raised the price to $24.99.
It's been done to deter people from purchasing the app as we've realised with our new weather provider that we are using way more data than we thought - it seems IBM was significantly undercounting our usage.
It means we now have to accelerate our move to a subscription model, otherwise the cost of the data becomes untenable.
As before, we don't intend to charge existing paid users once subscriptions are live.
I'm sorry to say that push notifications may well be offline for a while.
We recently (beginning of May) transferred our app to a new company, Weather Gods ltd. The app transfer using the Apple transfer process didn't go so well and we were left with our account in a limbo state.
This was fine whilst we didn't need to make any updates and we raised a case with Apple to resolve the problem. This is still ongoing.
First, I apologise for posting this here, but wanted to get the word out about a problem we are having.
Long story short, every 12 months Apple ask us to renew the certificate we use for sending push notifications. Today was that date.
The procedure is we give the certificate to IBM (our push notification provider) and everything carries on as before.
Unfortunately when uploading the certificate, their push notification service crashed and burned and it looks like our service has disappeared off the face of the planet i.e. the account has gone!
