Hello!
As someone who plans to enter university this autumn, I've been thinking more seriously about my independence and the tools that could be useful to me in my everyday life.
iOS and iPadOS
If anyone out there's a Spectrum subscriber, we have a Disney plus basic subscription offered at no cost. However here's where things get interesting and inaccessible. I started on the mac. I then did the same steps written below on the phone which was where the get disney plus button was visible. After clicking the activate link, I'm taken to the disney plus website. After the email is entered, the only button shown by Voice over is log in. Of course, how do you when you can't create the account? so after cooling off the Irish rage, I went on the phone.
Does anyone else stream content from spectrum tv? because out of nowhere, using the latest version, it suddenly reads out what I think are either closed captions or subtitles Either way it's completely makingme crazy. I don't have closed captions on andI can turn speech off but I shouldn't have too. Has anyone else has this weird behavior? I checked and the last update was maybe a week back or so.
Hello,
I am the developer of the app Speech Central. It was nominated for the best accessible app in 2017 on AppleVis: https://www.applevis.com/blog/closed-cast-your-votes-now-applevis-golden-apples-2017
I had a great feedback and help in this forum for improving my text to speech app Speech Central.
Hello everyone, overnight my Speech Central app updated to the latest version. Now it runs much slower, consumes a lot more battery, and I've noticed that the device heats up significantly during app usage. I have an iPhone 14 with the latest iOS system update. Additionally, since I use eSpeak NG as the text-to-speech synthesis, the app reads text with an English accent (my native language is Serbian), even though in the VoiceOver settings, I have configured it not to change the accent when reading another language.
Hello, I configured Speech central to use the API key for Microsoft Azure voices. What happens if I import a Word document which has several language tags correctly inserted? Will the voice - particularly multilingual voices - respect language tags or will it recognize the language by itself ignoring the tags?
Hello, on app store i found a speech central pro, which is 9,99 eur. What is diferences between speech central and this pro version?
Being nominated as the best accessible iOS app in 2017 by AppleVis is a great honor, but also brings a great responsibility to further improve the app and be even better in 2018.
I would like first to express the gratitude to this great community for the feedback that it has provided in my initial post (https://www.applevis.com/forum/ios-ios-app-discussion/introducing-speech-central-interactive-web-go-and-would-welcome) regarding my app Speech Central, which is available at the App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/speech-central-web-text-to/id11
Hi
How can I back up my entire Speech Central library? I have a large book library and want to make sure I will not lose any of the content.
Thanks for any advice.
I recently downloaded Speech Central to give it a try. As a VoiceOver user, I thought we had access to all features? I've noticed on the extras tab there is a button labelled Log In To Websites and it is dimmed. What does this button do, and how are additional features accessed?
Speech Central has added several notable new features in the latest version that is available on iOS 11.
1. PDF support - with the support of PDF format all major text/e-book file formats are supported now, and the number of supported formats now raises to 11. The PDF support includes the support for password protected files. Also the text is imported in a smart way so that repeating text in the header or footer of the page is skipped.
2. Comments tool - now you can attach a comment to the paragraph to annotate the text.
Hello,
soon there will be 10 years from the release of the first version of Speech Central (at that point it was called Share to Speech and was released for Windows).
As part of that event a completely new version of Speech Central for iOS and macOS rewritten from the scratch is being prepared.
During the beta testing or just after the new version launch one user here has reported that he/she had a problem regarding the speed where the app would start to read at normal speed and then significantly slow down.
As I now know the cause of this I wanted to provide the feedback, but my searches for that post were not successful. So I hope that that person will read this and that this might be useful for others too.
As Siri shortcuts may be a great accessibility feature, Speech Central has launched initial support for 28 Siri commands almost as soon as the iOS 12 has launched.
You need first to perform the command in the app (like pressing the button that will take you to the next paragraph) and after that you can define a phrase in the system settings to invoke this command using Siri (like 'Read the next paragraph').
Is there a setting to shorten the time when reading books in speech central and say you go from chapter 1 to chapter 2, to shorten the pause between chapters? At the moment I seem to have a 3 to 4 second pause whenever advancing to a new chapter when reading, but is there a way to make said pause between chapters shorter?
Is there anyway I can know my location in a book? In EasyReader, there is option where the location is provided in chapter, level, percentage and page if applicable. If this feature does not exist in Speech Central, please, developer, integrate it in future releases.
Thanks.
Hello all.
I am, like so many others, looking for a way to migrate my VDR book selection to a new safe Haven! I would like SPeech Central to be that haven? But....
How do I migrate my more than 500 Bookshare titles currently stored in Voice Dream Reader to SPeech Central?
And can I log into bookshare to download books like I can on VDR, or do I have to download the books onto my Phone and then import the books into Speech central?
I might have asked this before here, but I forgot the answer and I searched the site and found nothing. In the Speech Central app, how to know which page number I am in? I have a book in PDF format, in the EasyReader app it shows me the page number at the top of each page, in Speech central and for the same document the page numbers do not exist. I need to reference some content from the book so page numbers are really important.
