iOS and iPadOS

Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of upgrading my iPhone 12 Pro and debating between regular 16 and 16 Pro. I got the 12 Pro because of the Light IR.

I'm just curious - for short text detection, do you prefer Seeing AI or the text detection built into the Pro iPhones?

Hi

Wondering if anybody can help me with this problem.

I have an iPhone 13 mini and having trouble getting Seeing AI to work in the document, product, scene and handwriting channels.

When I try to use these channels Seeing AI loads for about a second before showing me a message that says “Sorry something went wrong. Please try again in a few moments.”

This happens every time.

I needed the registration number off a plate on the back of a fireproof safe, or at least a picture of the plate that could be read by a sighted person at some point, and written on a form etc, etc. I'm not going to lug the safe around the neighborhood on a dolly to try to get someone to read it..--and thinking about it, that could lead to horrible things...--so I decided to try out the save image option in the Scene Description channel with my iPhone, instead of the Camera app.

I purchased a one-year subscription to the new Seeing Eye GPS. While I realize there are going to be ongoing improvements, I am somewhat disappointed. I took a walk with it and the GPS, while identifying a lot of POIs, failed to identify some major intersections. I also tried entering a route, and the GPS did not notify me of upcoming turns. I found that Apple Maps did a better job of both identifying where I was, and detailing routes. I'm not sure if it the way I am using the GPS, or if this is just an early version.

Hey guys. Has anyone tried the Seeing Eye GPS application with IOS 8.1 yet? I'm demoing it for a client on Friday, and I want to know if it's safe to update from IOS 7.1.2. Thanks.:-)

Hello, I just renewed my monthly subscription for the Seeing Eye GPS. I was able to get in a couple of times, but when I went in today, the renewal screen came up. It didn't present any other choices. It offered me the monthly and yearly options. When I followed the prompt it told me I had renewed my subscription, but it could not connect to the ITunes store.

Dear All, With reference to the last forurm post about good GPS apps, does anyone know if the Seeing Eye GPS app will ever be available in the UK? I use most of the apps listed in the last post like Blind Square, Navigon British Isles, Google Maps etc.

Hi! Is there a way to see all the pages you like on Facebook? I've tried ways that you used to be able to do it before, and haven't had much success. Only time I got it to work, I could only see 4 or5 pages. Thanks advance!

Hi, How do I see the recent notifications sent by apps? They just disappear too quick from the lock screen. The notification center doesn't work, because it's too busy to tell me notifications about calender and finance. So how do I see those? Thanks.

Hello,
I was wondering if there were any great accessible bar-code scanning apps and label reading apps. I'm contemplating KNFBReader, but I'm a little weary about the price. 99.99? That seems a bit to high IMO, but this is just my oppinion.
Are there any good, cheaper alternatives that I could use?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am searching for an app which allows me to see the history of currency exchanges. I would use this app to operate the currency trading, however I want the app to represent the dat in a graph-like way. Is there any such software?

It's summer and I'm doing a lot of picnics, camping and hiking. I need a GPS app that works in these situations that doesn't use maps.

Verry soon, I will be going to visit a friend. Her mom is using the life 360 family locator app. I understand why she wants to use this app, however, I'm not comfortable using it, mainly because of the accessability issues. Having said this, are there any apps that can do the following. 1. Let my friends mom track us as we're moving in a cab or just walking. 2. Let us check in with her when we reach our final location. 3. Useable with voiceover, I understand that the map portion of apps like this can't be used.

Hi,
I'm a musician, and I'm looking for a good thesaurus app that can help me with rhyming words for my songwriting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. I am looking for apps that I can use to meet new people. I have no vision, so I'm trying to find apps that don't rely very heavily on pictures. I don't care if they're dating apps, apps for just making friends, whatever. Being able to find people locally and all over would be nice, but it doesn't really matter. I mean, local is always nice so if you do like a person you can meet up if you so choose, but either way, I just want to find apps that allow you to meet new people.

This is something that I’ve never really got to grips with, so I figure that I should before I actually need to rely on Time Machine to get me out of a hole (smiles)

So, would somebody please explain how to navigate through the versions of a file available in TM and restore the one that you want. Thanks!

Hi guys its Carlos,
another thing I would like advise is a good color identifier app.
I saw color eye I believe its Called and another is color id free.
and I know there are others.
I'm looking for one that could tell me among other things when a light on a charging devise changes color from red to green or from red to turning off meaning its done charging.
When I looked at color id it specificly mention it could do something like that.
Also if it is good for color recognition such as of clothing etc.
Well thanks for the feed back.

I am in the process of looking for a new podcast app for my library, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I was using iTunes on my mac and Apple's iOS podcast app, but I am looking for alternatives.

The most important features to me are that subscriptions, and play back positions sink between my iPhone and mac, and that the apps can handle my massive library.

I'd like to see a guide on how to best search for apps. The problem: I want an app that does something specific. Right now, I'd like to find something that simply chimes when I'm connected to a wi-fi network and chimes differently when I'm not connected. But searching for terms like chime and wi-fi is going to find thousands of apps. Previously, I was seeking a recording app that just saved the last couple of minutes of what was recorded. I found epiphany, doing an advanced google search, and added it to the app directory here.

I got the TempoPerfect app, but the metronome sound is hard for me to hear while I'm playing, even if I turn the volume way up. Can anyone recommend a metronome app with a sharp, loud tock? Thanks.
