Some courses contain a theoretical section, which explains the methods of the game in a certain stage of the game, based on actual examples. Microsoft to Discontinue Its Soundscape App and Make the Code Available as Open-Source Software

By AppleVis | December 12, 2022

Microsoft has today announced that as of January 3, 2023, its Soundscape app will not be available for download and that existing installations will cease to work after the end of June 2023.

The Microsoft Soundscape app for iPhone was launched 6 years ago. It uses 3D audio technology to enhance your awareness of what is around you, and thereby help you get around and explore your surroundings. As you walk, key points of interest and your own saved locations are called out automatically as you pass them. Additionally, Microsoft Soundscape can tell you about your current location, direction, and what’s ahead of you. It was inducted in to the AppleVis Hall of Fame in 2019.

In its announcement, Microsoft says that “it is now time to transition the Soundscape research project to the next phase, where we will share it to allow for broader development.” This will be in the form of the Soundscape code becoming available on GitHub as open-source software.

Microsoft says that today’s announcement heralds “New Horizons” for Microsoft Soundscape “with a community-driven approach. As many blind users have come to rely on Microsoft Soundscape as an important part of their navigation toolbox, we will be keen to discover what opportunities that having the soundscape code available as open source will offer to other developers - whether this is to incorporate Soundscape’s functionality into existing tools or to create completely new ones.

The AppleVis Community Names Envision AI and Evidence 111 Its Golden Apples of 2022

By AppleVis | December 11, 2022

We are pleased to announce that the winners of the Eleventh annual AppleVis Golden Apple Awards are Envision AI and Evidence 111.

Since their launch in 2012, the AppleVis Golden Apple Awards have afforded blind and low vision users of Apple products an opportunity to recognize and acknowledge the hard work and dedication which developers have put into making and maintaining great and accessible applications over the given year. The respective teams behind Envision AI and Evidence 111 are demonstrably worthy recipients of this honour in 2022 for their commitment to accessible app development.

Envision AI empowers people who are blind or have low vision by providing access to everyday visual information. Utilising the iPhone camera, the app can speak out written information, describe surroundings and objects, and even tell you who’s nearby. It became completely free with the release of version 3.0 in July 2022.

Launched in November of this year, Evidence 111 is an immersive audio thriller with high production standards. It’s September 13, 1985 in a small English town. Just like every Friday, Chief inspector Alice Wells is on duty. An ordinary night shift is suddenly interrupted by a mysterious phone call – an anonymous caller knows something about the chief inspector that nobody was supposed to find out. The app asks what will you do in this situation. What strategy will you use to uncover the secret hidden in the Evidence file No. 111?

So Much Sound In A Small Form Factor: My Experience with the JBL Charge 4

By tunmi13 | December 31, 2022

I am not usually one for purchasing Bluetooth speakers. However, one of my goals for 2023 is to balance out my music.

Before purchasing this speaker, I was quite skeptical. Doing tons of researching, watching YouTube videos, and generally checking out reviews from other websites was making me wonder if purchasing this speaker was a good idea, and whether this $100 speaker was really worth my time. The downside to a speaker or any sort of sound review, is that every microphone is different, and they all capture sound in different ways, so can never really discern the quality of the speaker unless you are in person. Our ears pick up more details than a microphone. Eventually, I decided it was worth a shot, and Free Returns were available. So I selected Buy Now, and waited for its arrival.
