Hi! Since I often use my iPad to write-down notes, I sometimes need a program that can both open, edit text, and save TXT files. I have spent some time searching for a voiceover-accessible program, but without succes. Does anyone know about an accessible app that open both TXT files but also saves in the TXT format? Notepad
Search for Notepad in the App Store, you will get ones that are free and that can do the job just fine.
Also Pages
I remember Pages supports Saving and opening TXT files.
Joplin
It's pretty good and I think it saves to txt if you want.
Subtext
Subtext seems to be exactly what you want. The app is nothing more than a simple plain text editor without any distractions. You can create a new document or open one, the app uses the native files views for this.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I will deffently try NotePad and Subtext,.
Best regards
Thanks I'll try subtext,…
Thanks I'll try subtext, joplin is good but it does more than I'd ever need.
Re: subtext,
I was also looking for something like this, so have installed subtext - thank you for the recommendation.
One other thing I wanted to do was to have it use this when I double tap a file in the Files app, instead of opening Easy Reader as it does now. Not sure if this is the right way to do it, but in the Files app I went to a text file, then selected Share. I had to go to More half way down, then Edit. I scrolled right down the list and had something like "insert subtext". So I double tapped that, and now it seems to have done the trick.
Just in case anyone else was wondering the same thing. Hopefully no side-effects of doing this!
