Which color identifier app have people found to be most helpful and reliable? I would guess the anser depends on the application. I'm thinking of an aid to help select cloting and make sure the pants match the shirt, etc.
- Which app have you found to be most reliable and useable by the blind?
- What distinguishes one app from another?
- Is there any app that has been developed especially for the blind?
Having only recently switched from Android last week, I'm trying to figure out how to listen to audiobooks. The only way I've found is to use iTunes to sync the content to iBooks, which is unacceptable (its iTunes, enough said).
I am writing a AppleVis because I have encountered a problem that I’ve spoken to multiple Apple accessibility advisers on, and they’ve had other one have reported it but I have not seen any discussion about this, my focus with voiceover seems to be broken when I’m using the native message app, and now Facebook.
Messengers started not working about three weeks ago, each time I open the app and I swipe either left or right, it is stuck on the status bar.
Hi, my husband and I are going on our first date in a while. Unfortunately, it is an a part of the city that I am incredibly unfamiliar with and would like to choose a walking GPS app for the blind. I haven’t seen a new GPS walking out posted in the last three years or so can anyone make some good recommendations about an app that is regularly updated. Thanks so much

I've just set up a WDMyCloud device. I've realised a lot of the books I have on it are in RAR as well as zip formats. I don't want to convert them all to zip as there are too many. Can anyone recommend a good IOS utility that I can unzip them in and in turn send the unzipped file to Voice Dream?
What are the most accessible IOS apps for exercising? I have the 7-minute workout app installed but when I looked it on applevis the most recent posts seemed to be at least 2 years old, is that app still accessible and are there any others? If possible I'm looking for apps that also describe how to do the exercises.
I figure that it's finally time for me to join the 21st century and digitise my printed documents for easy searching and retrieving.
As this is likely well charted territory for many on here, I wanted to benefit from that experience by asking for suggestions for the best apps and workflows for doing this. Obviously with a big priority on making the resulting archive as accessible as possible for managing and searching.
What apps would you recommend and what workflows for making this process as straightforward and efficient as possible?
Do you can recommend some apps that I can use in connection with 2-step verification if I e.g. will login to Facebook with this feature activated there work with VoiceOver on iOS?
Hi all, am looking for an app that is easy to use for IOS and that can record in MP3 by default and finally works well with Voiceover.
Your suggestions, comments are most welcome.
Thank you
Daniel
There are a small number of apps that are specific to the UK, and I thought it might be useful to pull together a list of those which VoiceOver users find particularly good.
A couple that I regularly use are:
NextBuses: great if you are a regular user of buses. The developer has paid specific attention to making this accessible, and it shows!
All right, so this used to work but now it doesn't. I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing this and, if so, if there is a workaround.
When I, for example, clikc on a ringtone to get its details, I would like to share that ringtone with a friend who also has an iPhone. So, I try to click the "Share" button. While this used to work just fine earlier (maybe in earlier versions of iTunes?), it doesn't seem to work now. Now, when I tap the "Share" button, absolutely nothing happens.
Help, please!
Hello,
Recently a Polish Company developed an easy to use application for detecting QR codes. This is QR Voice Sticker, which can be used for labelling various items. Labels can be recorded or typed. It’s not free but I recommend it as it is VoiceOver friendly and was developped by a visually impaired person.
Here’s is a link to the App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/pl/app/qr-voice-sticker/id1071148575?mt=8
Hello to all, I wish to bring to your attention a little messages app for IOS 10 for the messages app. It is called truth truth lie and is a free app for messages. You record three clips: a truth, a truth, and a lie and when you are all finished you send it off to your intended recipient. They then guess which is the lie. It is an accessible app. Just for a little fun lol
I'm the host of a podcast and we record our shows using Skype. For years the recorders for computers worked fine. Now they are becoming buggy and annoying to use. Is there any programs that will let me record Skype from my phone? Thanks for any help.
Hi all,
I am starting a podcast and using Skype to record with my co-host. The problem is my headset sounds bad on the PC. Are there any good apps for recording audio on the iPad? I'd like to record Skype from there instead.
Hello.
I am going to travel in a week and would like to know wich is the best recorder to record and pause an audio diary. I have an apple watch and an iPhone and iPad but no computer. I would like to record in m4a. And I don’t believe that Hokusai Audio Editor will do the thing even though that would be cool. This is an advanced audio editor and I need something different.
Hi all, can I somehow record sounds from my iPhone to mp3? for example when i want to record demo of some audio game etc etc. I heard it in some podcasts and i want to know how to do it. Thanks, Pavel
