I have at last overcome the problem of chunks of text being skipped when reading an iBook using Voice Over on the small screen of the iPhone 5S. If like me you have been experiencing this then do the following to resolve the issue.
Open iBooks Application.
Open a book in your library.
Select the Appearance Tab which is the 3rd Tab on the top above the book text. A pop-up window opens.. Swipe left to right until you hear scroll view on. Double tap to toggle scroll view off. Now double tap below the pop-up screen to close it.
iOS and iPadOS
Hello. I need help, as I am not very knowledgeable about the native books app in iOS. When reading books, I find that the experience is, to say the least, quite bad. What I’m meant by this is, I’m used to reading in the Kindle app, but I decided to give the native books app a shot. So, I start reading by going to chapter 1, then swiping 2 fingers down. Voiceover starts to read. All's fine. Until... It makes the sound voiceover makes when you swipe to a new element on screen, which, per what I can see, is how the books are structured. Needless to say, this is driving me bonkers.
My Windows screen reader has the ability to read the indention of lines and move be curser to lines of the same indentation level. I assume this is not possible with VoiceOver on Ios, but wanted to be sure.
Hello everyone, I am running the latest iOS update on an iPhone 12, and have a major problem using the Kindle app. I am wondering if there is a fix for this. I am using a Mantis Q40, and if I open the app and read, when it automatically pans to the next page, the thumb keys on the Mantis that you use to pan line by line, completely stop working. And I mean throughout the entire iPhone. I have to completely restart the phone to get them to work again. This is a major problem, ans the Kindle app is unuseable at the moment.
I found a recently released book on Amazon Kindle that I really want to buy, but the product page says text to speech is not enabled. Before I try to buy this book, I want to know the answer to this question. Can I still read the book using VoiceOver on my iPhone, even if TTS is not enabled? Or the Amazon Echo, for that matter? Is that feature for all devices or just for Kindle tablets?
Earlier today I got the nfb braille monitor on my iPod touch. When I tried reading it, the iPod said the message could not be displayed because a problem repeatedly occured. I had to go to gmail in safari and read it that way. Is this a bug with apple mail that it cannot read big emails such as the braille monitor and other monthly magazines?
I have a musical keyboard with an LCD display that I would like to see with the use of an OCR app. Is there a good one available?
I'm looking for a better way to read Kindle books through the IOS app using a bluetooth speaker. Voiceover is unreliable for me, as my speaker wants to keep VO on the phone and only play music or similar audio. Is there another way to make this work beyond multiple steps and Voice Dream?
I'm aware that sighted folks are using speak screen somehow to play their audio. But I'm not sure how to make that happen as a VO user. Would that work? Is there any other idea I'm missing?
For those of us who struggle to have Voiceover read a password as you type it into a secure text field. I found a work-around to read aloud my password, as I type it
Open a new Apple note, type in your password, which VoiceOver will read out loud as you type your password, then open the Voiceover rotor to use Text Selection to select only your password, make sure that only your password is selected and that nothing else, is selected, including any spaces before and after your typed password, then copy the selected text.
Good day, since up grading my iPhone 6S to ios 13 it cannot read pdf bank statements line by line anymore. It reads column by column. So, you first get all the transaction details, then the amounts and finally all the dates. Is there possibly a way to get it to read the document properly again?
Please does anyone know how to read PDF files on the iPhone line by line or sentence by sentence using VoiceOver gestures? Or are there applications that make this levels of reading possible? I have Adobe reader, Documents Pro and iBooks installed on my iPhone 4S and I love to employ them for PDF reading. But these only allow for character by character, word by word, and page by page reading, which could sometimes make reading unsatisfactory or even frustrating. Someone with some helpful information?
When I open a pdf file in the Safari web browser, only the first page is read by Voiceover. I am using an iPhone 7 running IOS12.1.
Are there any settings I need to adjust so that VO will read the entire page?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi all,
So I am reading an eBook in my IPhone 4s IOS 9.1 using IBooks. And I noticed something annoying. Please consider this sentence character by character. Note I am using US english sirie male voice.
So I'm going in alone?
The only thing worthwhile here is the question mark in the end, and we expect our screen reader to read this with a tone getting a little higher as if asking a question like a normal human would. Voice over does it well and good. However, say a character is speaking in the book and the sentence is rapped inside double quotes.
I'm having a strange issue and I can't figure out how to resolve it. This isn't really a big deal but it's something I'd like to solve if possible. When editing on my iPad if I set the router to words it will read the punctuation at the end of a sentence. This also used to work on my phone when I set it up as a new device. After restoring from a backup this no longer works for me. I can move character by character and hear the punctuation, but I can't move word by word and hear the punctuation at the end of a sentence.
My company just made a deal with the local bus company to let employees ride for free. They told us to download an app called UMA. The app works fine with VO. But the instructions say to hold the phone near the reader and make sure the bus pass code is within the white square. Impossible for a total like me.
Does anyone use a phone to pay for fares? I imagine it might be as hard to use as Apple Pay in some cases. I appreciate any advice.
When reading a digital book with voice dream reader, can I read some sentences word by word with voice over? I need to be able to learn the spellings of some words in particular.
I imagine this can be done, but I've never used the app before.
Thanks
Hi, I have recently started learning the flute. iBooks and kindle have quite a lot of sheet music. Just wondered whether voiceover can read it, or if there is an app for reading music?
With the holiday season, upon us, junk mail fill the mailboxes. I would like to be able to read only the envelopes to decide whether to open or discard them.
I would like to know which of the apps- KNFB Reader, Seeing AI, Prizmo Go etc is good for this task and how to do so. I have tried all of the above mentioned apps with frustrating results,.
Thanks in advance..
