Has anyone used Lyft?

I first request a Lyft, and then once I have a driver, I flick left a few times and there is a button called dropoff location. Double tap this, and then you can enter an address and then flick right past the cancel button to see a list of possible matches. You can also enter a place, like Starbucks, library, etc, and then flick right and the place with the correct address should be displayed. Double tap the option you want, and it will then be entered in to the app.

Scott, thanks for the info. Question, I am gathering then from what it looks like is you pay first before actually setting up the ride? Also, Have you had any problems in the app at all? I've never used them and I had heard there's some kind of slider to increase the donation. is the tip included or is that done by increasing the slider and is this accessible. My worst fear is starting this procedure and then having an accessibility issue completeing it resulting in the driver not being payed correctly. I do appreciate that Lyft's help is much more extensive and they do at least mention service animals in there policy. Thanks.
Iʻve seen some Lyft ads in twitter recently, and Iʻd also like to know how well it works. But from the practical side of it.
Since many of the rides Iʻd need are to places I canʻt go with public transport (like the closest library, to the train or bus stop that are miles away or on the other side of the highway, or some stores that are 10 min ride away) and riding alone during the day, that could be comfortable.
But how well does it work?
Does it depend on the city?
What kind of feedback or backup plans do they have if something goes wrong? (a lone passenger in someoneʻs car - sorry; I donʻt want unnecessary risks so letʻs have a look at what kind of personal security things we can have).
If youʻve USED Lyft, how well did it work? And where (state/city) did you use it?
Lyft sounds good - as getting to the bus I want to frequently take otherwise is currently quite a hassle. And it could be fun to hear more local and varied accents again - something I quite miss from Europe. :)
Maybe I should do a podcast on this? I'm not sure there would be much interest, but I may have time to do it this weekend. You submit payment after the ride has completed, and the process is very VoiceOver user friendly. When the ride has completed, you will be presented with a new screen that gives you the option to add a $1, 2, 5, or other tip. You then go on to a screen to rate the driver, then press submit and you're done. An email receipt will be automatically generated, and if you have an issue with the fare, there is also an option to submit a review of the fare by Lyft customer support. They also now apparently have some kind of safety regulation in place, though I don't know much about it, so to the user who was wondering about safety and such, it's no more risky than a regular taxi service imho. Yes, it may or may not be in your city, you would have to check that out for yourself. I've used both Lyft and Uber in 3 different US cities: Denver, Baltimore, and New York. IN all 3, I've found the Lyft drivers to be generally more friendly and though I have had friendly Uber drivers also.
Scott, thanks. I don't believe you need to do a podcast, your description was quite helpful. I haven't tried either of these services but might. So, one more for you: Uber sais the tip is included with the fair. Is this the case with Lyft or is that what those buttons are for? Thanks.
Just wondering, had anyone had any problems with accidentally requesting a lyft ride? Yeah, I know this sounds weird, but this has happened to me twice now and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas.
I open up the Lyft app to see if I have any free rides, to check what the ETA of a driver is if I were to request a ride, get a fare estimate and the like. This is the weird part, after I close the app by going in to the app switcher and closing it, I later get a text message from Lyft telling me my driver is here and sometimes get a call from a driver as well. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be happening here?
Lucky for me Lyft is new in my area, so a lot of the time the drivers are dizzy, so I can safely close the app, but till then, I'll only be opening Lyft only when I'm 100% sure I'll be using it. I can use the Uber app to get a fare estimate since the fares are somewhat similar. Besides, Uber has a nice tie in with BlindSquare which is very handy.
Here's the unique thing about putting in credit cards. When you're on that screen, there's a field for the credit card number, and only once you've filled in those digits do the other fields pop up. Also, then when you've saved the card details, it does list the card, but along with that are places that say the word null. These are the Paypal, lyft credit, and free rides buttons. Have a sighted user tell you which button you're on when you flick to it. The cursor shows them where you are. Then do a two-finger double tap and hold, hear the chirp sounds, and you'll then be able to label that particular button. I will take my first Lyft tonight, but this is my experience with the app in my initial stages.
If you contact them via twitter @lyft they might be able to help you solve the problems you are facing in regard to the app. They seem more cooperative in terms of that.
I might have the opportunity to try lyft in terms of traveling in a few months, or even weeks.
Hopefully by then they will have come out with a fix to the nul buttons in the pay screen. as that to me is a big oops in terms of accessibility.

To take a ride:
When wanting to take a ride, these are the general steps you follow every single time;
Select the pick up location, choose whether you want four or six seats on the ride mode screen, the destination you want to go, and you can also add if there’s anywhere you’d like to stop at. When this has been done, click request a ride. It will tell you it’s contacting nearby drivers, once someone can come get you they’ll send you a text and then that drivers info will appear on your screen along with how long there is to wait for that ride.
