I am wondering if anyone else has tried using the Walmart grocery app. I find it totally inaccessible and would like to know if anyone else has been able to navigate it. It would change my world if I could order through this app. I would like to contact Walmart accessibility (if such a thing exists). Any ideas how to secure that number?
I Would Also Like To Know
Hey, I too have tried, for a little while, to navigate and use the app here in Canada. For the most part, you can navigate it but there are so many issues that it makes the app completely unuseable. It almost looks like the app is simply the mobile web page. I didn't keep it and decided it wasn't worth keeping.
I use it regularly
It’s a poorly designed app for everyone, so one will certainly expect accessibility to be a problem. It can be done. The most important thing to remember, as you no doubt have already become well aware, is that swiping is largely unreliable. So are most other methods you might be used to using for Voiceover navigation. Sometimes they will work, but I have not been able to detect a pattern. On the home screen where various offers and some of your recent history is presented, the categories scroll sideways and you have to use the 3-finger swipe to get to the items to the right of the visible screen. For most other functions you are better off navigating by moving your finger around the screen. Scroll up and down with the usual VO gestures for scrolling. It is very difficult to find the option to add an item to your cart from the list, which is presented as a 2-column grid. The add option is at the bottom right corner of each square. You can swipe to it from the item description, but the app has a tendancy to jump to some random point, and you may find that you have added something entirely different to your cart. I’ve found that if I swipe back and verify that I’m still on the item I want, I can safely swipe to and double tap the ad button. You can also open the item and find the add button at the bottom of the screen. I’m sure there is more I could tell you if I had time to sit and play with the app for a minute and wasn’t using the phone to type this message. I will gladly try to answer questions. There are quirks with the app that are just bad design and not accessibility related, such as it won’t show you all of your favorites on the favorites tab unless you select to filter by category. It took me a while to figure out that my favorites were still there if I did that. Anything you buy lands on your favorites list, but you can easily remove things you don’t want to buy again. So far I have not seen a swipe to that button end up removing something I didn’t intend. I have to run but as I said I am willing to answer questions.
