OCR apps that scan gift card codes

iOS and iPadOS

Hi, I need some advice. I bought an iTunes gift card today. I'm supposed to be able to peal off the strip, and redeem the code with my iPhones camera. I have scanned my card successfully less than a few times. However, I could not get the card to scan at all today. I don't want to keep asking someone every time I get a new card. Is there a app that will let me take a picture of the code, so I can copy and paste it in the redeem text field? Any advice is helpful, thanks.

Hi. I'm not sure if there's an app for that particular use. Other Ocr. apps such as Seeing AI. might do ok. You could try the apps you have for Ocr. already. Plus, once you get the card, you just need to move your camera around and after a bit, you should get a message to enter your password, or touch Id.
The only other option that I can think of would be to use Be My Eyes and have a volunteer read you the code if possible. Im not very sure about this though, but maybe an app that reads Qr. codes may do it too. Like I said I don't know. Good luck and hope this helps!!

I have used Seeing ai before. I took a picture of the code twice. Somehow, I can't get the camera to see the code. However it will pick up the other area of text on the card.

I was just using Seeing AI. for an example. You could try other similar apps, and see what results you get. Or you could try and see if Be My Eyes works. If that works, and you have another device, I'd suggest using that device to write the codes down. Or maybe you could go out of the app and write it down. I don't know how you'd do that part. I wish there was an app spicifically for gift cards too.

Well, I just tried seeing ai and it worked. Though I can't tell you how I got it to work. I guess I have to scann a card a thousand times before I get the right block of text. I think its me, though. I don't know where the camera is in relation to the tiny text at the bottem of the card. In other words, I put the camera where I think the text should be, and lift up. Then I move my phone around just a little untill it says ", hold stedy" and takes the picture.
