How Accessible is Sound Forge Pro 2 for Mac with VoiceOver?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has experience using Sound Forge Pro 2 for Mac? I know a user submitted a podcast to AppleVis back in 2015, and the program sounded very accessible from that recording. Does anyone know if this is still the case? If so, are there any major issues that I should know about before making a purchase?

My current situation is that I'm using Windows, and I've used Sound Forge Pro for my audio-editing needs for years. I have files mastered using the iZotope Mastering Bundle, so I don't want to switch editing programs if I make the switch to macOS so as to keep a consistent sound across my future projects.

Thanks for any help,

Michael

Sound Forge

Michael, I did the tutorial in 2015. I'm still using SF and there are no significant changes in the app since 2015. The app is rock solid and comes with the Izotope Mastering package. You know how reliable SF for Windows is, , the same is true for Mac version. I find it easier to use than Amadeus Pro although Amadeus is good for multi-tracking.

Why Sound Fordge?

By Remy

As someone who has been heavily dabbling in audio theatre/music creation, I have to ask how people manage to use Sound Forge to put anything major together? It's not that sound fordge isn't fantastic; it is. It's got some great effects and is quite accessible. Still one of the easiest ways to do precise editing. But its lack of multi-track capabilities is, for me, a huge down side. I remember creating my very first audio theatre piece in Sound Fordge. Getting the levels and the eq right while "mixing" two tracks into a single track was a bit of a nightmare. In all this time I can't believe SF can't multi-track. It would be a real power house if it could.

SoundForge is not a multitrack editor. Its reason for existing is as a mastering tool for audio that has already been mixed in a multitrack editor. Sony does make other multitrack audio tools like Vegas Pro which is largely for video.
Having said all of this, I did use Sony SoundForge as my primary audio editing tool and mixing software when I worked in radio. For radio theatre and music recording, you're better off using a tool like Logic Pro which is well-supported here on AppleVis.
