help with bose qc35 latest update
Hi all, so I just updgrated my bose qc 35 to the newest version, which gives you the option of music sharing with other bose headphones. However, I encoutered a bug. When i'm listening to music, and am using vo, and I pause the music, the voiceover voice stops talking, even though I pause the music with the headphone's button. This issue is "verry annoying. Is there any way to downgrade to the previous softwhere the headphones had? Thanks for any help.
You should contact both Bose and Apple and let them know of the issue.
I experienced the same issue w/ Bose SoundSport Wireless, so it looks like they're using similar firmware as QC35.

I updated my QC35s the other day, hoping it'd fix some of the issues I've had trying to skip songs with the buttons on the headphones. It seems like they pause all audio output when you pause music, which also means no more VO speech. Sometimes I can get it to come back by toggling VO off and on again, but not always. I usually have to turn the QC35s off and back on again, which also means walking over and manually disconnecting them from my MBP since it seems to get preference when they're connected to that and my iPhone.
I doubt this issue will get fixed any time soon if at all though since Bose is a big company and most of the time big company=they don't care about us.
The Bosse sound Touch app, which controls the Sound Touch series of speakers, also has critical accessibility issues. I believe Applevis should reach out to them as a community of Blind Apple users to discuss the ways of getting these issues fixed soon
I do not have the headset myself for trying it but I found this post on Bose Community forum:
1 user said something like "I found out how to downgrade the Firmware back to 2.1.1 again by hitting the A, D, V, Up Arrow, and the Down Arrow keys during the Firmware-search progress."
Edit: I was able to do this using Firefox on Windows on my Bose SoundLink On-Ear Bluetooth Headphones with success result.
It's frustrating that Bose hasn't responded by updating the firmware to a workable state, nor fixed the accessibility issues in app. It's been over 2 months since I emailed and no response.
Maybe you should try giving them another email or calling them? Just a thought.

The Bose Community is monitored by the company's tech support team, and it seems that we can get better results there compared with emailing them.
It's a pity most Bose headphones are now affected by this very serious issue, effectively making it impossible to recommend them to VoiceOver users. I purchased a pair of SoundLink Wireless Around-Ear Headphones II in late 2015, and they exhibit the very same problem after updating the firmware. Of course, I managed to downgrade the firmware (not an easy job), but that's not a good solution at all.
That's a good idea. That forum is full of people complaining that the noise cancellation is worse with the newer firmware versions--something I haven't noticed myself, but I do like that Bose tech support is looking into it. I've also found Bose support to be very good at answering any questions I've sent them on Twitter. So it may be worth tweeting @boseservice about this. Sure, they'll probably give they're mostly standard response of asking for a DM so they can try to help further, but at least it's something. Even with the audio issue though, I still love my qc35s. I've figured out that if you wait around 5 seconds after pausing, VO does come back? Is it ideal? No. It just may be more of a deal breaker for some. I'll gladly take that over the first few seconds of audio getting cut off that happens with my older SoundLink speaker. It'll be interesting to see if the pausing and losing VO speech issue happens with the new BT speakers that were just released.

Unfortunately this issue prevented me from purchasing the QC35 as my older Bose headphone also suffers from it and I'm not going to get the otherwise stellar QC35 before the VO issue is taken care of. It costs $350 after all .
I sent them a DM trying to explain the issue, and sent them a link to this thread. You might consider doing the same. It might not get anywhere, then again we could be surprised.

Ah, good. Hopefully with more people explaining what is going on they might be more apt to look into it. Although I'm not expecting a fix in the relatively near future. Another thing I found is that this issue only seems to affect iOS. All audio output works as expected for me on the latest macos Siera release. Can anyone confirm if it happens in Windows?
While, Android doesn't suffer from the no audio-output issue--the app does have similar lack of accessibility issues.
Brian, myBose headphone doesn't suffer from this issue when paired with a Windows 10 64-Bit machine. So iOS is in the minority here.
yeah, same here, my bose headphones have no problems when i pair them with my mac; it only seems to be ios related
I have same issue with my QC30 when I use it with iPhone.
When I want my VoiceOver to be back immediately, I press Home button longer to open the Siri and close it as soon as I hear the tone for Siri.
For me, it works well when I want to avoid this issue every time.
I also want Bose to fix this issue as soon as possible.
The Bose Connect app got an update today, and along with it, a new qc35 firmware update. The main feature of it is to let you adjust the level of noise cancellation, but at last, when you pause music or other audio, you no longer lose VoiceOver output too! My qc35s just became awesome again.
